Big news just dropped on the Holotable, and it’s not just another marquee event. Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has dropped a massive update that rewires the way we power up characters. From star requirement reworks to the debut of Lightspeed Tokens (LSTs), these changes are aimed at making your roster progression faster, more flexible, and just a bit more… profitable.
Let’s break down everything—from early Relics to era-locked tokens—and what it all means for roster grinders, raid gamblers, and PvP ladder climbers alike.
Relics at 4 Stars? Welcome to the New Meta
Lower Star Requirements, Higher Power Potential
The galaxy just got a little more generous. Characters can now reach Relic levels as early as 4 stars—yes, seriously. Here’s the new breakdown:
- Relic 1–2: Requires 4 stars
- Relic 3: Requires 5 stars
- Relic 4: Requires 6 stars
- Relic 5+: Still requires 7 stars
This change is retroactive. Got a 4-star character gathering dust? They might be relic-ready today. Just hit level 85 and slap on some Gear XII.
It’s a massive win for roster diversification and makes early Conquest teams and low-star raid squads a real possibility.
Introducing Lightspeed Tokens: Instant Progress, With a Catch
What Are Lightspeed Tokens (LSTs)?
LSTs are a brand-new item that instantly boosts a character to a specific power level, skipping the grind like a Hyperspace lane through the Endor system. Think of them as upgrade tickets—but they only work on pre-approved characters.
Lightspeed Token Tiers:
Tier | Name | Upgrades to |
---|---|---|
Tier 1 | Carbonite | Level 85, 3★, Gear X, Ability Level 3 |
Tier 2 | Bronzium | Level 85, 4★, Gear XII, Ability Level 4 |
Tier 3 | Chromium | Level 85, 5★, Relic 1, Ability Level 5 |
Tier 4 | Aurodium | Level 85, 6★, Relic 3, Ability Level 6 |
Tier 5 | Kyber | Level 85, 7★, Relic 5, Ability Level 7 |
LSTs don’t apply Zetas or Omicrons, but they will fast-track a character into competitive territory in seconds.
Lightspeed Rules: Read Before You Redeem
Don’t Save Them—Use Them Fast
Each LST is era-locked and character-specific. Once you get one, you’ve got six months before it expires. And no, they won’t work on shiny new units. Use it or lose it.
- Initial Use: Legacy Era characters only (pre-Apprentice Era, i.e., before Nov 19, 2024)
- First Eligible Factions: Smugglers and Separatists
- Excluded Units: GLs, Conquest units, Journey Guide units, Capital Ships
You’ll earn LSTs via the Episode Track, Episode Pass, Store, and future events.
Recycling Lightspeed Tokens: Salvage for Rewards
If you receive a token and all eligible characters are beyond the token’s upgrade threshold, you can dismantle it for valuable items like Kyrotech, Signal Data, or Wiring—depending on the tier.
Example:
- Tier 3 Token = 10x Carbonite Circuit Board
- Tier 5 Token = Signal Data + Heatsinks + Bronzium Wiring
So even if the token’s not usable, it’s still useful.
Unit Progression Overhaul: Goodbye to Old Walls
To make LSTs actually work, CG had to tear down some outdated restrictions, and honestly? It’s about time.
What’s Changing:
- Unit level is no longer tied to your player level
- All unit abilities are unlocked from the start
- Gear tier no longer gates ability upgrades
- Ship ability upgrades aren’t gated by crew gear
- Ship reinforcement abilities no longer tied to star level
What’s Not Changing:
- Capital ship abilities still require star progression
- A few special cases like General Skywalker, Merrin, and Nightsister Zombie still have gear-gated abilities
Lower Unlock Requirements for Older Characters
Many older characters have had their star unlock requirements reduced to 2 stars, including legacy legends like:
- Darth Maul
- Darth Sidious
- General Grievous
- Captain Han Solo
- Jyn Erso
- IG-88
- Kylo Ren
- Luminara
- Stormtrooper Han
This change impacts both characters and ships, helping newer players unlock and invest in classic units faster—and giving veterans an excuse to revisit old favorites.
Quality of Life Upgrades: Sim Faster, Sort Smarter, Level Cheaper
Sim Up to 100 Battles
Campaign nodes now let you sim up to 100 times in a single click, if you’ve got the energy.
Leveling is 50% Cheaper
Credit and ship material costs for leveling units have been cut in half.
Clean Up That Events Tab
Events you’ve fully completed—like Proving Grounds and Fleet Mastery—will now disappear from your Events list.
New Filters and Sorting
You can now sort characters by:
- Relic Amplifier Level
- Zeta/Omicron Availability
- LST Upgrade Availability
- Gear and Ability Upgrade Status
Plus, a shiny new Era icon has been added to each unit’s detail screen, with a tap-to-view popup explaining the Era.
Conclusion: Prepare for Lightspeed
This update isn’t just a minor patch—it’s a major shift in how progression works in Galaxy of Heroes. Between early Relics, streamlined upgrades, and game-changing Lightspeed Tokens, we’re entering a more flexible, player-driven era.
And with more updates teased for later this year, this is clearly just the beginning.
So spend those tokens. Dust off those 4-star characters. And get ready to hit Relic 5 before breakfast.
