A Stormtrooper’s Tale: Crafting a Star Wars-Inspired Animation in Just 3 Days with Maya and Unreal Engine 5
In the vast and ever-expanding universe of Star Wars fan creations, a new gem has emerged, courtesy of M.P. Rabie, Director and Co-Owner at Day for Nite. Rabie has recently shared a captivating Star Wars-inspired 3D animation, a project born out of the desire to entertain and showcase his artistic prowess beyond the confines of previs and postvis work. The Inspiration Behind the Animation Rabie’s professional journey primarily revolves around previsualization (previs) and postvisualization (postvis), crucial stages in the filmmaking process that involve creating preliminary versions of shots or sequences. Despite the importance of this work, it often leaves creators like Rabie without tangible pieces to share with a broader audience. Seeking to bridge this gap and demonstrate his skills in a more accessible format, Rabie embarked on a creative endeavor to produce a short animation that could captivate both Star Wars enthusiasts and the average viewer. The Animation: A…

But thousands of light-years away, the last of the Emperor’s warlords has taken command of the shattered Imperial fleet, readied it for war, and pointed it at the fragile heart of the New Republic…. “I like markets. I like them very…

ABOUT THE EPISODE: My name is Shahbaz Sarwar and I’m a man with a dream. A dream of taking my 16 years of accumulated experience from my time in the film industry and take a shot at getting the attention of Lucasfilm and Disney, so that they will meet with me and my team. The goal? To pitch a unique story in the Star Wars universe that will have the scale of Game of Thrones; the drama of Breaking Bad; the meticulousness of The Wire, and the visceral action of “The Raid”. Star Wars Fan Short with 70s Look and Feel is Definitely Worth a Watch
Dark Empire Episode 1: The Destiny of a Jedi is a recently released short film from WilkinsAnimations. With a run-time of approximately 12 minutes, it’s definitely not the length that makes it stand out. Instead, it’s unique, 1970s-era animation style and great story line are what keep you interested. In fact, the short is so good it actually feels like a teaser – just casually wetting your appetite for a full-length episode. The creator does have additional episodes in the works, which is exciting because this talented artist may be able to bring in a big enough audience to capture the attention of the likes of Lucasfilm Animation. The story follows an adventure featuring Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO. R2-D2, and Luke Skywalker. The events take place a few years beyond the battle of Endor. A new, unknown disturbance within the force has appeared in the galaxy, threatening all…

Star Wars Fan Film: Whisper in the Dark
It’s fan film time again! I really do love fan films and they bring out the best of the Star Wars community. people geeking out over what they love and coming together to bring other fans some fun and enjoyment as well. Even the “bad” fan films are good because they embody the spirit of what we love about Star Wars. Some of them are cheesy, some of them may not have professional-quality sound, or acting, or lighting. But they all embody the spirit of Star Wars and they nearly always have a great story. I suppose that is part of why I like them so much. So, here’s a fun one to entertain you for a bit. It’s just at 15 minutes long so you can watch it on a break even. It’s from TheJW Phillips and hopefully we see more from them in the future. Set in a…
The Dark Resurgence: A Star Wars Story (Fan Film)
There are so many things to love about May 4th, but of those, one of my favorites is all the Star Wars fan films that come out. There are so many great Star Wars fan films out there and in May of every year, we get to see even more. It’s an exciting time for any Star Wars fan. With that in mind, here’s another great film to add to your list. It’s just under 15 minutes long, so it’s a quick watch, but I think you’ll like it as much as we do. From Mike The Marine: “I’m proud to finally present, The Dark Resurgence: A Star Wars Story!!! My team and I worked hard on this film for a little over 2 years! Due to my school and work, the visual effects and editing took much longer. But in the end, the Force was with me and I…
Kylo Ren: Smuggler’s Son (A Star Wars Fan Film)
Brought to you by Shattered Star Productions, here’s a short (just over 10 minutes long) fan film that we absolutely love. The story is moving, the special effects are great, and the entire production is well done. If you’re into Star Wars fan films, here’s another you’re going to want to check out. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a smuggler’s son? What kind of family life would a smuggler have? Honestly, the real reason many of them had no family at all is because it’s easier to fly solo than to be away from the ones who care about you. Here’s a film that touches on some of those issues. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… The Dark Side of the Force has a new acolyte: the young man once known as Ben Solo, but who now terrorizes the galaxy…
Regrets of the Past – Star Wars Fan Film
I love Star Wars fan films, something you probably already know if you’ve been following the site for any length of time. There is no shortage of these films on the internet today but some far outside the others when it comes to quality, story, and all those other things that make a great film. Here’s one that is definitely worth the watch. A lot more work went into this than what we see with short films and it shows. It’s nearly an hour long and it had more than 150 people on the crew. Many working professionals put their own spare time into this project to make it possible for us to enjoy. It’s amazing and is truly a cut above many of the others we write about and share with you here on the site. This one deserves more views. So go ahead and pop some popcorn, or…
STAR WARS : FORGOTTEN FORCE A Fan Film
You know how I feel about fan films. I’ve made that abundantly clear with each one I post here on the site. But now, we have a new one and this one’s great. We also talked briefly with Tim Johnson, Misunderstood Art Company, writer and director, about the film. You can learn more or follow updates at their Facebook page. Johnson says he made the film to honor his dad, Tony, who passed away from cancer on June 19, 2011. It was released on June 19, 2016 on Father’s Day. It’s a wonderful tribute to a Star Wars fan and father and an all-around great film. We hope to see more shorts/films like this from the same crew in the future. Keep up the good work! So if you’re ready to check it out for yourself, here it is. Be sure to leave them a comment on the video or…
Custom SWTOR Topps Card
If you’re not familiar with Topps cards, the company, founded in 1938, is famous for creating collectible trading cards, candy, chewing gum and other collectibles. Growing up in the 90s, baseball cards were the big thing (at least in my circles) but the company also makes other sports cards and even non-sports trading cards. They worked with the Disney Channel, for example, to create trading cards for Hannah Montana and High School Musical. They also made Pokemon trading cards, not to be confused with the Pokemon Trading Card Game from Wizards of the Coast. So what if they were to create Star Wars themed cards? What if they made SWTOR cards? What an awesome idea! Someone already had this idea but I cannot claim it as my own. A Reddit user named loststormtrooper came up with the idea and then made his own SWTOR Topps card. It’s not perfect and his logo actually says “The Force…
EXILE – A STAR WARS FAN FILM (2016)
You know we love Star Wars fan films. It’s probably obvious from the fact that we post about them nearly every time we find them. So here’s another and it’s definitely worth the watch. This is Exile Episode 1, a Star Wars Fan Film 2016. The production quality is great on this one and the story interesting. Some may think certain themes steer a little from the traditional feel of Star Wars but as a fan film, I think they get a little leeway for such things. If you love Star Wars and you love fan films, this is just one more to add to your watch list. ““Jedi around the galaxy are being viciously hunted and killed by the evil Galactic Empire. Aware of the imminent danger, Jedi Master Boemana Tora and her Padawan Makal Lori, flee to the outer rim systems close to the planet of Lothal.” So…
Star Wars Fan Film Unity of the Force
Here’s a really cool fan made film we think you will enjoy. In this story, the young hero, Lak, is tasked with finding an artifact, a special lightsaber that is said to be the most powerful in existence. He is less than enthused in the beginning, which makes him different from many young Jedis. I would expect him to be chomping at the bit to take on a mission like this but instead, his attitude was one of “Can’t someone else do it?” While this annoyed me, I also thought it was kind of refreshing to see a different angle taken. So anyway, he goes on to complete this mission to find The Artifact and there are many obstacles in his way, which is no surprise. I think you’ll find it a fun little short and the ending was a bit of a surprise to me. The ending may surprise…
Star Wars R2D2 Computer Case Mod
I am a huge fan of DIY projects. I even have a couple of websites devoted to this sort of thing. As readers here will know, I am also a fan of Star Wars. So when a project like this comes along, it’s going to capture my attention. This is such an awesome project for a custom case for his little boy. I love R2D2 (most people do, right?) and I’ve also noticed that kids really take to the little guy, same as kids of today fall in love with BB-8. There’s something about a little beeping droid that kids can identify with, especially when they often become the hero in a situation. I know I would have LOVED a computer case like this when I was 7. So this Star Wars R2D2 modded computer case was built by a dad with and for his 7 year old son. He…
“Kara” A Star Wars Fan Film
Star Wars fan films… oh, you know how much we love them! Here is a fun one put out by A Whitelist Production just a couple of weeks ago. It’s called “Kara” and it’s a little over 7 minutes long so it’s not going to eat up your entire afternoon to give it a watch. I will say this though: it left me wanting to see more from these guys. For an unofficial Star Wars film, it’s pretty darn good. It’s not Hollywood perfect quality but it’s really darn good and has a good feel to the story. Because they kept it so short and sweet, I think it even adds more to the appeal. Some of these fan films are too drawn out and it makes it much more difficult to capture and hold the attention of the audience for that length of time. It also draws us in,…
The Weight of Forgiveness – Star Wars Fan Film
We have something fun and interesting to bring you today. This just released Star wars fan film has our attention. It’s called “The Weight of Forgiveness” and it’s all about the birth of a Jedi. It’s in Italian and it’s about 15 minutes or so in length so it’s a short watch. There are different possible interpretations of the short, which is part of its appeal. The synopsis says it is a Star Wars fan film “open to interpretation” and there have already been several ideas as to what it all means. If you know and love Star Wars (like all of us here do), you may appreciate it on those grounds alone but we ask you to watch it with an open mind and don’t limit yourself just to the Star Wars universe, then see what you think of it. Some say it is the story of redemption of…
STAR WARS LEGENDS: Legacy of the Force – Fan Film
We love Star Wars fan films, as you probably know if you’ve been reading our posts for awhile now, and here is one based on a book that we really wanted to bring to your attention. It’s Star Wars Legends: Legacy of the Force and you can see the film in its entirely on YouTube (we’ve embedded it below). It’s meant to be a homage to the Expanded Universe and the canon is spot-on. The acting was good, especially for a fan film and I found it overall entertaining. If you haven’t seen it yet, just scroll down and give it a watch. Then head over and tell the crew what you think of their hard work. You can follow everything they’re up to and learn more from their Facebook page here. Some of their members are also working on a new project right now. Their page contains interviews and…
