SWTOR Executive Producer Letter: Exciting Updates and New Features

SWTOR Galactic Season 7 in Review: A “Meh” Season of Nostalgia and Boredom

Greetings, fellow Star Wars enthusiasts! So, let’s talk Galactic Season 7. I know what you’re thinking—“Isn’t it too soon for a review?” Well, maybe, but with 80% of my goals achieved (including those stubborn secondary servers), I’d say it’s time for some galactic-level judgement. Spoiler alert: My final verdict is a resounding meh. And no, it’s not the same meh as last season. Let’s dive in!

Season 6 Flashback: Stronghold Wins, Story Losses

Before we dissect Season 7’s blandness, a quick nod to Season 6. Remember the stronghold focus? I loved it! The Copero stronghold still sees more action from me than a Jedi Academy at finals week. But that storyline? Woof. Disappointing is an understatement. And don’t get me started on the grindy meta achievements that made me question my life choices. Overall, the good and the bad balanced each other out into a “meh” of epic proportions.

Enter Galactic Season 7: When “Boring” Became an Art Form

Where Season 6 had peaks and valleys, Season 7 plateaued into a monotony so profound it could put a Rancor to sleep. Nothing outright terrible, but certainly nothing extraordinary. Just… there.

The Excitement that Wasn’t

When the devs announced the theme—a tie-in to a world event—I was hopeful. Returning world bosses? Count me in! But in practice, this ended up like ordering blue milk and getting regular milk instead. Same flavor, different label, and a lot of disappointment.

Been There, Done That… Like 10 Years Ago

Sure, unlocking bounty hunting achievements on secondary servers was fun. It’s a nostalgic trip. But on Darth Malgus? Been there. Done that. A decade ago. Dusted off my bounty hunter hat and realized there wasn’t even a speck of dust left to collect. It’s like opening a treasure chest only to find it’s empty, and the dragon guarding it is asleep—again.

The DvL (Dark vs. Light) bosses? Been there too. Years ago. Some guildies were thrilled to finally check off the “Kill Them All” achievement, but I’ve had more DvL tokens than Jawa scrap metal, and, frankly, didn’t know what to do with them. Maybe knit a token-themed scarf?

What’s Up with the Rewards?

Look, I can handle a season without jaw-dropping rewards. The white Loth kitten is adorable—don’t get me wrong—but is it on the same level as a new companion or stronghold? Hard no. Without a gripping storyline or a grand prize, what exactly am I supposed to be excited about here? Seriously, enlighten me.

Bring Back the “Shiny” Currency Drops!

A strange admission: I actually missed the random new currencies that would pop up like a surprise in a loot drop. At least then, I knew something was different, even if I hadn’t followed the news or scrutinized the seasons UI. This time? Nada. No new currencies, no odd surprises—just another day in a galaxy that’s beginning to feel way too familiar.

Throwback Vibes… Except Worse?

Even Season 1 had more of a “vibe.” Sure, it involved tedious daily objectives to massacre insectoid mobs across planets, but at least that was a theme! Here, all I got was a one-minute intro as a feeble justification for killing two DvL bosses a week. “Bounty hunting”? Not so much.

A Brief Shining Light: Weekly Objectives

I’ll give credit where credit’s due. The balance of a solo-friendly seasonal weekly objective and one for groups was a solid move. But alas, that’s about the only notable positive in this sea of monotony. I ended up feeling like the quintessential jaded MMO veteran—everything just screamed “been there, done that.”

Conclusion: Hoping for New Galaxies Ahead

Galactic Season 7, you’ve been a ride—an old, familiar ride. Here’s hoping the next season brings a spark of creativity, a new storyline, or at least a reward that makes me say, “Hey, that was worth it.” After all, even a galaxy far, far away needs something fresh now and then.

May the Force (and some excitement) be with us all!
