Why Star Wars Battlefront Could Have Been Successful in E-sports

Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises in the world, with scores of loyal fans ready to immerse themselves into the lush environments of the forest moon of Endor. Battlefront had mixed reviews when it came out, but there was one point of general consensus: it was able to recreate the popular Star Wars experience authentically. Fans thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of flying Tie-Fighters over Tatooine and taking down AT-ATs. However, as any gaming enthusiast who is also a Star Wars fan will tell you, Star Wars Battlefront is a game that did not make full use of its potential. Yes, the game still has enough of a dedicated following that its game modes can be kept active, but it simply wasn’t as successful as had been anticipated. However, there’s one simple change that could have caused the game to do much better: becoming an eSports title. Yes, Star…

EA Claims Star Wars Battlefront II Controversy Will Change How They Make Games

Electronic Arts, the publisher behind the 2017 game Star Wars Battlefront II has claimed that the controversy surrounding the game has changed how the company will design and release games in the future. The backlash towards Battlefront II began before the title even hit stores. During the pre-release beta testing mode of the sequel to the 2015 title Star Wars Battlefront, gamers grew frustrated with the in-game progression. EA created a loot box system and in-game currency which could be used to purchase new and improved heroes which were not based on player performance. Some of the most iconic heroes in Star Wars history were initially locked out for players and, as Polygon claimed at the time, players were expected to put in 40 hours in-game in order to unlock characters like Darth Vader. The anger grew, especially when EA attempted to solve the problem. The company’s customer service department…

DICE is Working on Something New for Star Wars Battlefront II

No, it’s not new content (yet), but we did see an update that DICE is working on something new for Star Wars Battlefront II. The long-awaited update that focuses on both cosmetics and a new game mode is finally here. With it can a customization system and microtransaction. This is different from the original plan for microtransactions (that made players angry) because it will be used for cosmetics only – nothing that will help you gain an advantage in the actual game. This has been a long-standing request from the community and they’ve finally delivered, so say goodbye to pay-to-win scenarios. So, now what’s happening with Battlefront II? Since the update is out, are they all done with content at this time? Maybe not. There’s also been an ongoing request for squad system improvements. The current squad system is very basic and players have been asking for more. Basically, you just…

Cancelled Star Wars Battlefront IV Concept Art

Are you wondering about the game that might have been? Every time a Star Wars game is canceled, we find ourselves curious about what it would have looked like. Sometimes, we get lucky enough to see this for ourselves. As is the case with the canceled Star Wars Battlefront 4 – which was already in the planning stages when they shut down Free Radical’s Battlefront 3 project. And it’s really too bad this game would never come to be because the concept images show a very interesting approach to the project. This is likely something a lot of fans would have really enjoyed. It’s too bad we never got the chance to find out. This gallery of concept images reveals a strikingly different approach – a ‘what if?’ scenario where the events of the Star Wars prequels would play out differently. Anakin would have killed Yoda and murdered Padmé, which…

Star Wars Battlefront II – Patch 1.2 datamined

Here’s some stuff that was discovered by reddit user Heavyweighsthecrown  after spending a few hours in the game’s files with Frosty Editor – a game assets editor that’s also used to manipulate game files for mods. He Spent some hours looking at 3D meshes, cryptic command lines, colorful textures, and files named under some arcane system, and this is what he found… But first, a Disclaimer: I don’t know if people already knew this stuff 100% before this latest patch, or if this is new stuff. Also, everything here can easily be verified if you use Frosty Editor yourself to dive into the game files. There are actually 2 head models named “JangoFett”. But he’s without the helmet, and both look very alike. I don’t think they will be used in future models though. The more detailed head is probably the Clone Officer, and the slightly less detailed one is probably the background clones…

Electronic Arts downgraded by Morgan Stanley on disappointing ‘Star Wars’ Sales

Morgan Stanley downgraded Electronic Arts  from Overweight to Equalweight with a price target of $120.00 (from $126.00). Analyst Brian Nowak comments: “Recent disappointing Star Wars Battlefront 2 third party data (NPD and GfK ) cause us to lower our Star Wars unit estimate from 13mn in F3Q to 10mn. These lower unit expectations flow down to the bottom line.” I find this quite interesting as Star Wars: Battlefront was the most downloaded playstation game in december 2017.  Most analysts also remains optimistic. Of the 19 brokerages covering EA, 16 rate the shares a “buy” or “strong buy.” In addition, EA’s average 12-month price target of $128.52 represents a 16% premium from the stock’s current perch, and is in uncharted territory for the shares. This implies that more downgrades and price-target cuts could be on the horizon. Brian Nowak also had some thoughts on the rollout of “Star Wars Battlefront 2” microtransactions: It’s unlikely…

Latest Star Wars: Battlefront DLC, solves Plot hole in “The Last Jedi”

The guys over at NME has apparently found that the latest downloadable content for Star Wars: Battlefront II answers some of the questions raised during Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Check it out: An apparent plot hole in Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been solved in the downloadable content (DLC) for Star Wars: Battlefront II. Fans were left confused after the opening sequence of The Last Jedi showed Resistance fighters planting bombs inside the First Order’s Dreadnought ship, without offering any prior explanation as to how they knew where to leave the explosive arsenal. But that very question has now been solved by Battlefront II’s ‘Resurrection’ DLC – and it makes a whole load of sense. Battlefront II‘s DLC reveals that game protagonist Iden Versio and her daughters obtained the plans to the Dreadnought and “transferred” them to General Leia Organa in an attempt to help the Resistance. In turn, this meant that…
