SWTOR Patch 1.2 Changes Confirmed by Devs: Guild Summit Update

Patch 1.2 (coming in March/April) will be huge! This is the largest free game update likely in MMO history. This is the kind of stuff you’d see in a paid expansion from Blizzard. The talk is that this was originally how the game was supposed to be launched but that BioWare was pressured by EA to get the game out by a certain release date. The result- a game that was not quite ready yet and a HUGE patch incoming soon. When reading and listening to info from the Guild Summit, you will hear a lot of rumors. Much of the information is mixed up or just not be relayed properly. If you’re a guild leader or an officer in your guild, make sure you take the time to ensure the right info is being spread in your guild. First, there were changes, additions and updates that were confirmed by…

Guardian Angel: Rotations and Tactics

Guardian Angel Hello, fellow SW:tOR fans. It’s Kiran again with another entry into the Guardian Angel blog, a column dedicated to Jedi Guardian tanking. Today I’m going to cover some of the finer details of end game Guardian tanks, namely rotations and tactics. Later on I will also cover stat priorities and itemization. Ability Priorities and Rotations: The first thing you should know about any class in Star Wars: The Old Republic is that there is no set rotation for abilities like there are in other MMOs. Abilities instead have priorities which determine which available ability should be used first. You should also know that all priorities are situational. Hilt Strike might seem like a high priority ability having a stun and lots of threat, but against multiple targets, it’s not as effect as say, Force Sweep. As such, I will classify all abilities accordingly. The first thing we’re going…

Technorati Blogger Says Star Wars is Sinking Fast

Are you happy with SWTOR and the post-launch outcome thus far? While many gamers are completely satisfied, there are others who feel let down by the game and EA has been facing some problems lately in terms of broker concerns. But is it really as bad as it sounds? A Technorati blogger thinks SWTOR is sinking fast and has this to say about the sinking ship: And there is quite a bit of solid evidence that people are abandoning ship. But what about those who say there is no problem? Many are calling it the TORtanic, and this is the fated maiden voyage. But let us explore how and why this game is failing so hard and fast. Hmm.. I’m not sure I completely agree with his evaluations but he might have a few good points. First, he explains that the initial launch sales boomed the game to an unreachable height…

So you’re new to SWTOR and you’ve got questions; we have the answers. Whether you are afraid to ask in general chat or don’t trust the answers you might get, we’ve got your back so don’t worry about it. This guide is meant to be a simple newbie FAQ for SWTOR. While it’s not meant to answer every question you may have about the game or to cover every aspect of it in detail, it’s a great overview for the new player. Even if you’ve played other MMORPGs (such as WoW), you’re going to find some differences in SWTOR that will make a difference from the very start. For example, while the UI and controls are familiar, there are other aspects of the game that are different enough that you might find yourself making some big mistakes early on if you don’t take the time to read up on what…

Hoth Datacron Locations

Hoth was the sixth planet of the remote Hoth system. A desolate world covered with ice and snow, located in the Anoat sector, a rarely-traveled portion of the Outer Rim Territories, it became famous as the one-time location of the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s Echo Base during the Galactic Civil War. It was discovered in 3 ABY by the Empire, causing the Battle of Hoth, a major engagement that destroyed the Rebels’ base and gave them heavy casualties. Hoth’s existence was known throughout the galaxy as early as 4,000 BBY. The swamp wampas of Dromund Kaas were proven by scientists to be descended from the wampas of Hoth. It is possible that wampas were brought to Dromund Kaas during the Great Galactic War though the truth remains a mystery. Indeed the Republic suffered a major defeat at the hands of the Empire during that conflict. The two fleets included…

It was here that Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn recognized Anakin’s potential to become a Jediand where he introduced him to Obi-Wan Kenobi, his future master and mentor. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild? We are a group of skilled members who have had a lot of experience in MMO’s. We play fair and we always win. We also play Garry’s Mod How did your guild come about? The great hunt: SD-01 Strategy

Welcome to “the great hunt”. Our new column here at SWTOR strategies, were we will talk strategies for each world boss in the game. My name is Zexu and I’ll be running through how to defeat every world boss on the Galactic republic worlds. Today we’ll be going over SD-01, a large droid found on Corusant. This footage was taken during the November 25th weekend beta test, so SD-01’s abilities may have changed. This encounter was completed with ten players at levels 16 through 20. We used two tanks (Jedi Shadow and Jedi Guardian), three healers(Scoundrel, Sage and Commando) and five DPS. Let’s go over his abilities. SD-01 has two abilities. The first ability is applied to the highest threat target IE your tank. The stack increases how much damage the tank takes. It stacks up to ten times making your tank un-healable. To combat this simply have an off…
