Battlefront II’s Shattered Galaxy Delay Might Be Good News for Classic Battlefront Fans

Classic Star Wars Battlefront II fans will have to wait a little longer before charging into Shattered Galaxy’s next Clone Wars battlefield.

The upcoming beta map Naboo: Ruined Valley has been moved to July 9, according to the latest update on the mod’s official ModDB page. It was previously being teased for June 18, but the release has now been pushed back while custom game modes are still being worked on.

Annoying? Sure.

A disaster? Not even close.

The Map Is Not Being Scrapped

The important detail is that Naboo: Ruined Valley does not sound like it is stuck in development hell. The update says the map layout is finished, along with the vanilla game modes. The delay is about finishing the custom modes.

That is a very different kind of delay.

This is not “we have no idea what we are doing.” This is more “the battlefield exists, but the extra madness needs more time in the bacta tank.”

For a fan-made mod, that is honestly the healthier version of bad news.

Shattered Galaxy Is Still One of Battlefront II’s Most Interesting Fan Projects

Shattered Galaxy has been around for years, and its pitch remains exactly the kind of thing that keeps classic Battlefront II alive: more eras, more factions, more heroes, more villains, more vehicles, more maps, and a wider Legends-inspired sandbox than the original game could ever contain.

The mod’s page describes it as a project bringing the Legends timeline into classic Battlefront, with separate eras, game modes, reworked maps, and improved space and land combat.

That is why a single delayed beta map still matters.

This is not just one Naboo map. It is part of a larger Clone Wars Part-I push, and the update notes that Naboo: Ruined Valley will be the only beta map for that release.

So yes, people are watching.

A Rushed Mod Helps Nobody

The thing about classic Star Wars modding is that it runs on passion, spare time, stubbornness, and probably a concerning amount of caffeine.

There is no giant studio machine here. No polished marketing cycle. No corporate roadmap with thirty-seven approvals and a teaser for the teaser.

There is just a modder trying to make an old Star Wars game feel alive again.

That has always been one of the best parts of Star Wars gaming history. The official releases matter, obviously, but so do the fan projects that keep older games breathing long after the industry has moved on. You can see that same long, strange history across our Complete List of All Star Wars Games Ever Made.

July 9 Is Worth Watching

If the extra time means Naboo: Ruined Valley launches with better custom modes, then the delay is probably the right call.

Classic Battlefront II fans know the deal by now. The wait is part of the hobby. Sometimes the galaxy gets saved by massive studios. Sometimes it gets saved by modders quietly rebuilding battlefields one map at a time.

For Shattered Galaxy, July 9 just became the next date to circle.
