Meet the newest member of the Bioware Austin Community team Nick Avola. He’s Holding a Thermal Detonator! Hey all! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the newest member of the Bioware Austin Community team. My name is Nick Avola, and I have the daunting (yet exciting) task of playing third fiddle on a team directly involved in all areas of our games from player feedback, to design considerations, to promotions, to communications, you name it. Much of my time will be spent scouring the forums, blogisphere, and social media platforms to track community sentiment on a day-to-day basis. Ill be consolidating your comments and concerns into detailed reports, which will be disseminated regularly amongst the Community, Development, Leadership, and other key teams here at BioWare Austin. The sooner your feedback reaches the eyes and ears of senior staffers, the more accurately and effectively we can respond…

Ability Delay — Character Responsiveness Can Make or Break SWTOR
While every new game will have some bugs, there are bugs that are much more serious in game than others. Some, in fact, can be completely game breaking and this is frustrating for someone who enjoys the game but then gets caught by a bug like the ability delay that is slowing character responsiveness in SWTOR. A thread on the official forums breaks down this very important issue that could make or break SWTOR. The original poster explains the issue: “The “Character Responsiveness” for lack of a better term, is how “smooth” the game plays from your avatars perspective. I have played SWG and EQ to a lesser degree as well as Warhammer Online and several other MMOs and I must honestly say that Bioware has gotten this all too important aspect much better than any previous MMO that I have experienced (with the obvious exception, to which we will…

The big day is here – the launch date of Star Wars: The Old Republic and the popularity of the game is at an all-time high. It’s easily the hottest PC game of 2011, or at least of the holiday season. Examiner reports that on Electronic Arts’ Origin store has sold out of the physical copies of the game prior to its release on December 20th and that they do not plan to take backorders. They also said, “This will be running out of stock across the map and Origin will be the first place to get additional inventory once available.” The electronic version of the game is still available on Origin at this time. Standard editions were also still showing available on Amazon, GameStop and Best Buy websites. With Christmas…

This is likely to be on the must-do list for all GamesCom attendees this year. What is even more important to consider is that the event may be RSVP only, though this has not been confirmed. Something as cool as meeting the guys responsible for developing Bioware is sure to be a hit. Bottom line, you need to pay attention to Twitter and our website for more details as they come available so you know what to do to secure your spot. It is almost certain to be a hot ticket at such a huge event. On Twitter, Stephen Reid (Rockjaw) said that the event would be on Friday night but gave no further details….
