Knights of the Old Republic

I Played 13 Star Wars Mobile Games. Here are the Best.

Over the past couple years, we’ve seen a lot of new Star Wars games, just not where you might expect them: on your phone. There have been tons of new mobile games that have come out since Disney took over the franchise, from Rebels-themed kids’ games and puzzlers to tower defense and shooters. But are any of them any good? Do they stand up to the classics, like Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire? I had to find out, so I sat down and played 13 of them. It took me a while, but here’s what I found out. The Best: Knights of the Old Republic It’s getting old now, but this game has translated remarkably well to mobile platforms. The controls are really easy to use, the gameplay is intuitive, and the story is a classic one that stands the test of time. The graphics are what you’d expect for a game that’s…

The Old Republic: Rescue Mission – (2015) Short Film

Many fans of Star Wars think that the best Star Wars game that was ever made it Knights of the Old Republic, and some will disagree. There is a new Australian fan film that has been between the events of the Drew Karpyshyn’s novel and the KOTOR game, and it’s actually quite good. It’s not just good for a fan made film, but it’s actually really good. It stinks that the expanded universe stuff has all been voted as non-canon during the wake of the upcoming movies. However, in a strange way it puts all of the half-decent fan-fiction on an even level with things like the game. In other words, it seems to make it easier for certain people to have great fun with the Star Wars world. No matter what, this is actually a high quality production and it features great acting and perfect outfits. It’s definitely worth…

RevengeofRevan.com Developer Blog asks, “Can a mod be created that won’t disrupt KOTOR canon and still allow players to continue their stories from KOTOR1 and KOTOR2? Ever since the MMO was announced along with the Revan book, this has been on my mind. The short answer is: yes, it can be done. But the next part is, how you can do this without putting yourself in a corner and hurting your creative freedom?” Revenge of Revan (RoR) does exactlly that. It will allow fans to continue their story based on the choices they make in the last two games so they can continue while still fitting the KoTOR canon. Even with the non-strict canon choice the story for the mod will still fit nicely between KOTOR2 and SWTOR in the large grand scheme of…

Being evil in Knights of The Old Republic

For a game that has been out for 11 years the Knights of the Old Republic (KoTOR) is still getting a lot of attention. Maybe it was the release of Star Wars the Old Republic that reminded us of how amazing the original game was. Maybe it was last years’ release of KoTOR for iOS that reminded us that a great game remains great regardless of the platform. Or maybe it’s just the realization that the original game remains a benchmark for all RPG games.

But now there is news that a supermassive update is on the way. IGN tells us more about this update: A new update for Knights of the Old Republic on iOS will add support for non-iPad devices, improve its visuals, update the user interface, and introduce controller support. Bioware’s excellent Star Wars RPG was brought to iOS exclusively on iPad earlier this year, but the new update supports the iPhone (4S or newer) and the iPod Touch (fifth generation). Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic now on iPad

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic  can now be acquired now from Apple’s App Store for a penny shy of seven pounds. That’s expensive for an app, but gets you the entire game, and many hours of gameplay. If you haven’t already played it, you should definitely get it now. You can also get the game for the low price of $9.99 for the Steam version.  The game itself is a turn-based role-playing game that drops you into the Old Republic Because the iPad has no physical controls, developer Aspyr has bolted on some touch controls, that see you dragging your finger around the screen to make your character run around. Gaming site IGN has reviewed the game already and says that the movement controls are a little clunky, though because combat involves tapping on-screen buttons to key up attacks, the action sequences work well with the touchscreen. The bad news is that Apple’s site says you’ll need…
