EA Inc.’s Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition for the PC held in the top five best-selling pre-order products at Best Buy Co. Inc.’s online division this week due to high demand, reports Punch Jump, but then that’s not really a surprise to us here at all.
This week it ranked #5 for best-selling pre-orders but I’m willing to bet the closer we get to the December 20 launch, the higher it will climb up that pre-order list. In fact, due to the massive beta testing weekend they just launched, I’m willing to bet a lot more people who have not pre-ordered yet will jump on the bandwagon to do so now that they get to check the game out for themselves.
SWTOR is popular but it’s also not cheap. For some gamers, they need to try it themselves before they fork out that kind of cash on a game. This weekend, many of them are getting that chance.
BioWare has hinted at limited editions of the game for sale in order to control launch conditions which may have led many gamers to rush to get their copy but they are now saying that we shouldn’t worry about not being able to purchase the game. With the massive scale of their weekend beta stress test, it’s clear they are planning for an epic launch event. They are also giving us several ways to purchase the game with different editions available.
Star Wars: The Old Republic standard SKU sells at $59.99.
The Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition will include the Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue, collectible metal case, The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural, Star Wars: The Old Republic galaxy map, Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD, Collector’s Edition box, and seven digital items at $149.95.
