Star Wars fans finally have their first glimpse of the main cast for the highly anticipated Disney+ series Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law. However, this reveal didn’t come from an official trailer or promotional poster, but rather through an early piece of merchandise.
The Skeleton Crew Official Ingot, available through Fanatik, features an engraving of the group of children at the heart of this Goonies-inspired show. The box of the ingot provides a proper look at the live-action characters. Out of the four children, three appear to be human, while the fourth is an elephant-looking alien, reminiscent of Max Rebo from Return of the Jedi.
Disney’s Silence and the First Merchandise Reveal
Despite wrapping up filming in January 2023, Disney has been unusually quiet about Skeleton Crew since its announcement in May 2022. A brief preview was shown to a select audience at Star Wars Celebration 2023, but the majority of fans are seeing the characters for the first time through this merchandise reveal.
The official blurb on the ingot reads, “An epic tale of friendship and determination awaits,” yet it doesn’t offer further details about the show itself. The engraving also seems to feature a droid character, though details remain scarce.
What We Know So Far
Skeleton Crew” is set during the New Republic era, the same timeframe as The Mandalorian, and follows a group of young kids who get lost in the galaxy and must find their way back home. The series is inspired by the classic Amblin films of the 1980s, a tone perfected by Kathleen Kennedy, who is heavily involved in the project.
Looking Ahead
While the official release window for Skeleton Crew remains unknown, it is speculated that more information might be revealed upon the completion of The Acolyte, another highly anticipated series set to debut on June 4, 2024. Until then, fans will have to wait patiently for official announcements or further leaks to learn more about this exciting addition to the Star Wars universe.
