Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Update 12-17 showing Era Currency compensation and Datacron fixes

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes โ€“ Update 12-17 Breakdown (Datacrons, Make Goods, and a Small Oops)

Another day, another Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes updateโ€”and this one comes with a mix of welcome compensation, balance fixes, and a Datacron situation thatโ€™sโ€ฆ still loading.

Hereโ€™s the clear, no-nonsense breakdown of Update 12-17, what changed, and why you should probably check your inbox (and your Datacrons) before jumping back into combat.

5,000 Era Currency Has Been Granted (Yes, Really)

Letโ€™s start with the good news: 5,000 Era Currency has now been granted to all affected accounts as part of the previously announced make good.

If you were impacted by the earlier issues, this compensation should already be sitting in your inbox, quietly judging you for how fast youโ€™re going to spend it.

This is tied to the earlier situation explained in the official make-good update, so if you were waiting for the follow-throughโ€”this is it.

Episode Pass Text Cleanup (Goodbye, Galactic Challenges)

The Episode Pass description has been updated to remove mentions of Galactic Challenges.

This doesnโ€™t change how the Episode Pass functions mechanically, but it does clean up confusion caused by outdated or misleading text. In other words: fewer โ€œwait, isnโ€™t that gone?โ€ moments when reading descriptions.

Small change, but a necessary one.

Datacron Damage Bug Fixed (The AoE One)

A more impactful fix landed with this update:
An issue that caused too much bonus damage to be applied when using AoE attacks alongside the Set 25 Datacron (Pillars of War) has been corrected.

Specifically, the interaction between:

  • AoE abilities
  • The Attacker bonus (โ€œWhenever an Attacker uses a Special ability, deal 25% more damage for each buff on target enemyโ€)

โ€ฆwas stacking far harder than intended.

If you noticed your AoE attackers suddenly feeling a bit too Force-blessed, thatโ€™s why. The fix brings damage back in line with what the Datacron was actually supposed to doโ€”not what it accidentally did.

Datacron Reset + Refund (Mostly)

Hereโ€™s where things get interesting.

Any players who invested in this Datacron will:

  • Have their Datacron set to level 5
  • Receive the Datacron upgrade currencies they used, delivered to their inbox

This is a solid move and prevents players from being punished for investing in something that later required adjustment.

Howeverโ€ฆ

EDIT: Missing Re-Roll Materials (Yep, Thatโ€™s a Thing)

Shortly after the update went live, reports started coming in that re-roll materials were not included in the refunded Datacron currencies.

And yesโ€”this has been acknowledged.

The dev team has confirmed:

  • The issue is real
  • Theyโ€™re investigating what caused it
  • A solution is being worked on as quickly as possible

So if youโ€™re staring at your inbox wondering where your re-roll mats went, youโ€™re not aloneโ€”and youโ€™re not wrong.

The Big Picture

Update 12-17 is one of those SWGOH patches that mostly does the right thingโ€ฆ with a small asterisk at the end.

The good:

  • Era Currency make good delivered
  • AoE Datacron damage fixed
  • Datacron investments protected
  • Episode Pass text cleaned up

The awkward:

  • Missing Datacron re-roll materials (for now)

If history is any guide, a follow-up make good or inbox message is likely on the way once the investigation wraps up.

Until then, itโ€™s a good time to:

  • Double-check your Datacron levels
  • Review what currencies you received
  • And maybe hold off on heavy re-rolling until the dust settles

Because in Galaxy of Heroes, patience is sometimes the most important stat.
