SWTOR Game Update 7.8c Goes Live With Cartel Market Additions, UI Improvements, and Bug Fixes

BioWare is taking Star Wars: The Old Republic servers offline to deploy Game Update 7.8c, with an estimated downtime of 4 hours.

While this is a smaller point update, 7.8c delivers a wide range of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, UI customization options, and a new Cartel Market addition inspired by Star Wars: Visions™.

Below is a breakdown of what players need to know.

Update Highlights

New Cartel Market Items

A brand-new Shadow Sentry Lightsaber, dualsaber, and armor set, inspired by Star Wars: Visions™, has been added to the Cartel Market.

Mac Launcher Update

A new version of the Mac launcher has been released.
This update resolves an issue where some Mac players were getting stuck on a black screen after launching the game.

Subscriber Event Removed

The Subscriber Event tokens and vendor have now been fully removed from the game.

Major Bug Fix Categories

Game Update 7.8c is heavily focused on environment fixes, event stability, and encounter clarity, particularly across Dantooine, Orbital Core, and various dynamic encounters.

  • Removed invisible collision near the Eternity Vault entrance on Ziost Shadow
  • Prevented characters from getting stuck on trees, rocks, and terrain
  • Adjusted visual effects to correctly match damage areas

Buffs & Hazard Improvements

Several hazard mitigation buffs now last significantly longer, aligning properly with boss encounter windows:

  • Cryogenic and Mycelial mitigation buffs now last 2 hours
  • Thermal Regulator and similar buffs now persist for 1.5 hours
  • Research Note buffs can now all be active simultaneously and persist through death

Event & Encounter Adjustments

Multiple events received clarity and balance updates, including:

  • Orbital Core boss fixes, including ability visuals and temporary ability bar behavior
  • Sporefall Biome debuffs now apply correctly across the entire biome
  • Several events now properly respawn enemies and objectives

  • Objective tracking improvements for Ilum encounters
  • Dynamic event mission trackers now display clearer overviews

UI & Quality-of-Life Updates

One of the standout parts of 7.8c is expanded Mission Tracker customization:

Players can now:

  • Adjust mission title and task font sizes
  • Change text and background colors via color wheels
  • Control background opacity
  • Easily identify critical path missions, now marked in purple on the Galaxy Map

Additional UI fixes include:

  • Login Rewards text overlap resolved
  • Mini-map icon duplication fixed
  • Restored functionality for several buttons, including Guild Conquests

Items & Stronghold Updates

  • Escort droids no longer missing textures and are now Bind to Legacy
  • Research Note descriptions now match buff durations
  • Dantooine Stronghold now includes new Quick Travel and Jump Points
  • Several armor fitting issues resolved for female body types

Ability Tooltip Update

  • Melting Center and Draining Center ability tooltips now correctly state that they deal 4x the initial damage

Final Thoughts

Game Update 7.8c may not introduce new story content, but it delivers a substantial round of polish, especially for live events, encounters, UI customization, and long-standing bugs.

If you regularly run Dantooine events, Orbital Core encounters, or rely on hazard mitigation buffs, this update should noticeably improve your experience.

As always, servers will be back once maintenance is complete — and we’ll keep an eye out for any post-patch issues.
