Hasbro has officially opened pre-orders for a deluxe Vintage Collection Baze Malbus, and honestly, it is about time. For a character who spent Rogue One stomping around with a cannon the size of a small grievance and delivering some of the movie’s coolest non-Jedi energy, Baze has felt weirdly overdue in this format. Now he is finally here as VC397, priced at $27.99, and yes, this absolutely feels like one of those releases collector shelves have been waiting on for longer than they probably want to admit.
This Is Very Clearly a Rogue One Anniversary Play
Hasbro is framing the figure as part of the 10-year celebration of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which makes perfect sense. If you are going to start mining that movie again for collector goodwill, Baze is a strong place to do it. He is not background filler, not a blink-and-you-miss-him alien, and not one of those releases only the most sleep-deprived carded collectors can get excited about. He is Baze Malbus — Chirrut’s heavily armed best friend, professional Imperial problem, and one of the main reasons Rogue One still hits as hard as it does.

What the Figure Actually Comes With
According to Hasbro Pulse, this is a 3.75-inch Vintage Collection release with articulation, photoreal design, a soft goods cape, and movie-inspired deco. Hasbro also says the figure includes two accessories, while the character description highlights Baze as the pragmatic soldier and crack shot with his heavy repeater cannon. So no, this is not some bare-minimum “here’s the character, good luck” release. It looks like Hasbro knows exactly what fans want from Baze, and thankfully that starts with not pretending he should show up lightly equipped.
The “Deluxe” Label Actually Makes Sense Here
Baze is one of those characters where the deluxe treatment does not feel like marketing inflation. Some figures get called deluxe and you end up staring at the box like, “Congratulations on including a cloak, I guess.” This one at least has a better case. Baze is a bulkier character, he has more shelf presence than your average Rebel trooper, and his gear is part of the appeal. If you are going to charge above standard TVC pricing, this is the sort of character where collectors are at least less likely to start muttering in a comment section immediately.

Where You Can Actually Pre-Order Him
Pre-orders opened on March 12, and collector coverage points to availability through Hasbro Pulse and other fan channel retailers. Jedi News specifically called out Hasbro Pulse and Comics & Cocktails, while Yakface noted the figure is a fan channel exclusive, meaning not one of those mass retail drops everybody assumes will be easy until it suddenly is not. In other words: if this is on your list, this is probably not the figure to “circle back to later” after three days of pretending you are being financially responsible.
Baze Was Always Going to Land Well With Collectors
Part of why this works is simple: Baze is just a good Star Wars figure choice. He has an instantly recognizable silhouette, a practical combat look, a strong connection to one of the most beloved Disney-era films, and the kind of gear loadout toy lines love. He also rounds out Rogue One shelves in a much more satisfying way than yet another variation of somebody already drowning in plastic. That last bit is not coming from Hasbro, obviously — that is just collector common sense. The official listing and collector posts do make clear, though, that Hasbro is treating this as a notable Rogue One anniversary release rather than just random archive-digging.

This One Feels Like a No-Brainer
Not every preorder needs a dramatic think-piece attached to it. Sometimes the story is just: Hasbro finally made a figure people have wanted, and it looks like they did not fumble it. That is basically the Baze Malbus situation. For Rogue One fans, Vintage Collection collectors, or anyone whose shelf still has a Chirrut-shaped gap next to a heavily armed best friend who should have been there already, this is one of the easier Star Wars preorder wins of the week.
