Star Wars publishing is going full Bard again. William Shakespeare’s Star Wars: Ahsoka’s Tale is set to release on September 8, 2026, with Ian Doescher returning to turn another corner of the galaxy into faux-Elizabethan drama. The official listing says the book will retell the events of season one of Ahsoka in Shakespearean meter and style, continuing the long-running parody line that already tackled the saga films and other Star Wars stories.
Ahsoka Is a Pretty Great Fit for This Gimmick
Honestly, this one makes a weird amount of sense. Ahsoka already has ancient prophecy energy, solemn standoffs, ghostly mentors, grand villains, and characters constantly speaking like destiny is sitting in the room with them. Pushing that through Ian Doescher’s Shakespeare filter feels less random than it might sound. According to the official book description, this version follows Ahsoka Tano and her allies as they try to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn, while presenting the whole story like a stage play complete with reimagined dialogue, stage directions, and literary-style Easter eggs.
It Is Not Just Text on a Page, Either
The publisher listing also says the hardcover runs 176 pages and includes twenty richly inked illustrations showing these Star Wars characters in Elizabethan-inspired outfits. That extra presentation has always been part of what makes these books work. They are not just joke transcripts with “thou” pasted into every sentence. They are built to look and read like playful Shakespeare pastiches for Star Wars fans who enjoy the franchise being a little ridiculous on purpose.

There is also something very on-brand about Ahsoka becoming the next Shakespeare remix. A series built around old wars, lost heirs, exiled villains, haunted apprentices, and dramatic reunions was basically begging for somebody to give it iambic pentameter and a fancy curtain call.
