Disney has now locked in one date that Star Wars fans should probably circle in red: the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 2026 will take place on August 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Official D23 event pages describe the showcase as the place for stars, storytellers, “exciting reveals,” sneak peeks, and some of Disney’s biggest announcements across film, television, and streaming. That does not confirm any specific Star Wars reveals yet. But it absolutely puts the showcase on the radar as one of the most likely places for Lucasfilm to show something new.
Ahsoka Season 2 Feels Like the Most Obvious Candidate
If one Star Wars project looks naturally positioned for a D23 spotlight, it is Ahsoka Season 2. StarWars.com said in January that the series was already in production for its second season, with Dave Filoni continuing as showrunner. That alone makes August feel like a very plausible window for some kind of update, whether that means teaser footage, concept art, or at least an official onstage push. Nothing has been announced yet, so this is still inference. But if Disney wants a live-action Star Wars Disney+ title to carry the night, Ahsoka is the cleanest fit on the board right now.
Starfighter Also Looks Like a Strong Bet
The other obvious name is Star Wars: Starfighter. Lucasfilm officially announced last August that Shawn Levy’s film had begun production in the U.K., and StarWars.com confirmed it as an all-new standalone movie set for May 28, 2027. That timing matters. By mid-August, the film would be far enough along that a behind-the-scenes look, a cast reel, or even an early first-look tease would not feel out of place at all. Again, that is not confirmed. But for a movie already in production and still more than nine months away, D23 would be a very normal place to start shaping the public pitch.
D23 Has Already Been a Star Wars Reveal Stage
There is also history here. At D23 2024, Lucasfilm used the event to unveil the first trailer for Skeleton Crew, share Andor Season 2 footage in-room, and give attendees a first look at footage from The Mandalorian and Grogu. In other words, this is not some random fan event where Star Wars might show up. D23 has already functioned as a genuine Lucasfilm showcase stage for footage, sizzles, and project updates. That makes it easier to imagine Ahsoka Season 2 and Starfighter playing the same role this year.
Not Confirmed — but Easy to Read the Board
Right now, the safe version is simple: August 14 is officially a major Disney reveal night, but no Star Wars lineup has been confirmed. The more interesting version is that Lucasfilm suddenly has two very plausible headliners sitting in the right place at the right time. If Disney wants one streaming crowd-pleaser and one big-screen conversation starter, Ahsoka Season 2 and Star Wars: Starfighter make a lot of sense. And if that happens, D23 2026 could turn into one of the most important Star Wars dates left on the calendar.
