Imagine this: You’re heading to your local GameStop, wallet ready, eyes on the prize—a shiny new Darth Vader lightsaber. You’re already hearing the hum of the saber as you slice through imaginary foes. But then, as you reach for that glorious piece of Star Wars memorabilia, your excitement screeches to a halt. Why? Because the label on the box, in all its glory, reads: “For rectal use only.” Yes, you read that right. This isn’t some weird dream. It’s a real-life event that recently turned GameStop into the butt of jokes (pun totally intended). The gaming retailer, known for its extensive collection of geeky merch, found itself at the center of a viral sensation when a prankster slapped this rather unfortunate label on a Darth Vader lightsaber. Suddenly, what should have been a powerful tool in your quest to rule the galaxy became the laughingstock of the internet. As you…

Oops! Wrong Acolyte: How Angry Star Wars Fans Accidentally Review Bombed the Wrong Movie

With new lore potentially conflicting with long-held beliefs about the Force’s abilities, the fanbase is in an uproar. But did you know that this uproar led to an unintended review bombing of a completely unrelated movie? The Controversy Surrounding ‘The Acolyte’ New Lore and Fan Reactions ‘The Acolyte’ recently introduced lore that some fans believe contradicts established Star Wars canon, specifically regarding the Force’s ability to create life. While these new elements might be explained in future episodes, it hasn’t stopped a segment of the fanbase from expressing their displeasure loudly and publicly. Review Bombing on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB In response to their frustrations, some fans took to Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB to leave scathing reviews of ‘The Acolyte.’ This form of protest, known as review bombing, aims to lower the show’s…

SWTOR Controller 3.0: Which One Would Be Yours?
Here it is… the new SWTOR controller 3.o. It has everything you need for a hilarious, I mean, fun time playing the class of your choice. You may need to make the image bigger to see all the details but we think you’ll like it as much as we did. The Hatred Assassin, for example, has the “Instant win” button. It also has buttons for resetting the battle the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time. Lightning Sorc has the “ForceSpam” button and don’t forget about all of those LOLs. All in all, it’s a pretty hilarious diagram and we know our readers can appreciate it as well. Thank yous go out to Xinikos on Reddit for the heads-up and some of the commenters there have some pretty good ideas of their own. If you had a custom controller to play SWTOR, what would your functions be?
Be the Weapon! Be the Asteroid!
BioWare posted one of their infamous April fool jokes today – The ultimate noob killer! Be the Weapon! Be the Asteroid! 04.01.2014 Take your Asteroid to Space! Who needs blaster bolts, ion cannons, or missiles, when your ship itself can be the weapon? Thanks to new Czerka technology, pilots can now jump into the cockpit of The Asteroid and take out their enemies head on. Blend into the battleground and lock onto unsuspecting enemies. The Asteroid specializes in tractor beams that reels their victims in. By the time the target realizes the situation, they will be blown to smithereens across the Asteroid’s rocky hull. More aggressive pilots will enjoy ramming into their foes with deadly accuracy. They won’t know what hit them until you hit them! Pilots should keep in mind that like the Bomber, the Asteroid is a big target with low maneuverability, blending into the terrain is a…

Writing Star Wars w/ Michael Arndt
Michael Arndt was announced as the screenwriter for “Star Wars: Episode VII” back in November 2012, so what has he been doing since then? According to a hilarious new Funny or Die video of his alleged first day writing the upcoming movie’s screenplay, he’s been having a whole lot of writer’s block. Of course, this is all a joke, but Arndt does have some priceless terrible lines to show off here. From “Sir, we’ve identified the nerf herder. He has a herd of nerfs” to “‘Yoda’s alive! How?’ Explain later, I will,” Arndt’s fake lack of inspiration is a pleasure to watch. The video has become increasingly popular since it was released, and hopefully it will lead to more Funny or Die “Star Wars” videos going forward. It is the first time Arndt has commented in a big way on his involvement in “Episode VII,” even if the clip does…

“Star Wars Episode VII” Audition Tapes
Following up on Lisa’s Star Wars 7 Rumor Roundup from yesterday, Conan O’Brien has been running these Episode VII ‘audition tapes’ from various directors. Some of them are extremely hilarious, yet I would love to see how Lars Von trier would do a Star Wars movie. Kevin Smith: Woody Allen: Wes Anderson Michael Moore: Todd Philip and my favorite the Infamous horror director Tom Six, make of one of the most absurde movies ever The Human Centipede:
MTSBWY: Star Wars orchestra flash-mob
Now here is something you don’t’ see every day: An orchestra flash mob in the Wallrafplatz, in the center of Cologne in Germany. I have always been a huge fan of flashmobs, but I have never seen a full out orchestral flash mobs — that play the Star Wars Theme. I also love that they brought both harp and timpani. That’s dedication. We can only hope they show up at next July’s Celebration Europe II oh… And as a bonus video, I give you the newest Star Wars spoof from our old friend OneMinuteGalactica – The Awkward Awards. Yes, Everything is so less regal and majestic when the music cuts out:
TOR TV: VENDORS – EPISODE 1
Vendors is a new animated series based in the era of Star Wars: The Old Republic made by TheWarpZone. The guys thought it would be fun to explore the lives of the unsung heroes of galaxy, the Vendors. Hope you like this one and stick around for more. At first I was a bit put off…and then the guy got stabbed with the lightsaber. Well done fellas
Gotye Meets Star Wars
Two internet memes collide in a galaxy far far away this week, as Star Wars and Gotye are crammed into one spoof. If that sounds crude, it actually works surprisingly well, with some pointed swipes at the Star Wars prequels and a George Lucas-alike who sings about “all the times I screwed fans over””. The Force is strong with this one, just don’t expect this to be released on Blu-ray any time soon.
Wish Granted, Tycho
In a fun Easter Egg from BioWare, here’s the new NPC on Corellia, Ty-Ko. Did you catch it before?
MTSBWY: What If Yoda Spoke Normally?
The ‘Star Wars’ universe is riddle with mysteries. Did Han shoot first? How come Chewbacca doesn’t get a medal at the end of ‘A New Hope?’ And how come Yoda insists on speaking in semi-reverse order? It’s hard not to see master Yoda as a very short font of wisdom throughout the Star Wars films, but when his unique speech pattern is made to fit traditional rules, suddenly he becomes one seriously creepy little dude. Vimeo user MechaStewart shows us in the video below:
Memes of the week: March 5 – March 11
It’s Sunday and time for a new round of “memes of the week”. This time a few non memes (but really funny pictures) got our attention to. TOR TV: SWTOR Episode II – The Internet Strikes Back
Khalirei the Creator of “SWTOR Episode I – A NEW MEME” has finally made a sequel to his first EPIC Machinima, But Warning: This time it’s rated M for Manneyus. I especially appreciated the Battlemaster bag and Minecraft scenes. Looking forward to part 3! Memes of the week: February 27 – March 4
Last week we posted a weekly rundown of SWTOR Memes we collected around the web. The article was well received, but some people asked us about what this meme thing is, so here’s a more than a little information on that. I pronounce it so it’s rhymes with ‘dream’; some pronounce it so it sounds like ‘mem’ (from mem-ory). An Internet meme is an idea that is propagated through the World Wide Web. The idea may take the form of a hyperlink, video, picture, website, hashtag, or just a word or phrase, such as intentionally misspelling the word “more” as “moar” or “the” as “teh”. The meme may spread from person to person via social networks, blogs ( such as this), direct email, news sources, or other web-based services. An Internet meme may stay the same or may evolve over time, by chance or through commentary, imitations, parody, or by…
Memes of the week: February 20 – 26
Memes like “Advice Animals” and “Rage Comics” have been big part of social media the last year. On some websites like Tumblr and Reddit they have become so big that many is starting to find them annoying. Some might ague that subreddits have been destroyed by the amount of these memes being submitted. Examples of now useless subreddits is r/gaming and r/wow. Many reddit moderators have therefor taken a stand against these memes. This includes the moderators on r/swtor . This action is both good and bad, as might keep the subreddit way more clean and easy to navigate, but it also goes against the nature of reddit, and many good jokes never get to see the light of the day. So tarting today, we will bring you a weekly recap of memes that you never got to see. Philosoraptor on SWTOR: By AppleJuiceCookies Unimpressed Sith. By donnymocker Saw this odd glitch last night. TOR TV: Unnecessary Bleeps in Star Wars: The Old Republic
In today’s TOR TV, we Bring you the brilliant idea of Jimmy Kimmel’s segment “Unnecessary censorship” to the world of video games. For people who don’t know what Unnecessary Censorship is, it refers to the practice of adding censor bleeps, mosaic blurs or black bars to source materials that were neither profane or explicit to begin with. The bleeps are typically dubbed over words to make it sound as if they were explicit. Mosaic blurs and black bars are placed over people, objects, or text to make it appear as if they are covering up pornographic or explicit material. Some times that makes not funny things hilarious. Clear Favoritism of Republic in TOR
We’ve heard the accusations of favoritism in SWTOR. In fact, I remember the same thing from the early days of WoW (and actually it never ended in WoW). I’m hearing all this talk now of BioWare clearly favoring the Republic in TOR and before I just didn’t believe it. That is until… I came across this image and it’s so glaringly obvious now. BioWare, yes, you are definitely showing favoritism to Republic. What other explanation could there be for this? That’s right- what you are seeing is correct. The Republic get more cleavage, more leg skin and less pointy elbows. This is serious business, ya know. It’s apparent from these dancer’s outfits that the developers prefer Republic to Imperial and want to spice up the eye candy more for one side over the other, right? Of course I mean this only for a chuckle but do you think there really…
Escapist Magazine Zero Punctuation Reviews SWTOR
This week, Zero Punctuation reviews Star Wars: The Old Republic. Escapist Magazine did not have nice things to say about SWTOR. It’s a 5-minute, fast-paced rant about how much SWTOR sucks (in short) but self-admittedly is nothing more than a “preview” as he doesn’t spend enough time actually playing the game to give it a real review. Ben “YAHTZEE” Croshaw is notorious for not liking MMOs. In fact, his criticism was somewhat mild considering his distaste for the genre. It’s amusing, I’ll give him that, but I really don’t think he gave SWTOR enough of a chance. Since he doesn’t like MMOs, it feels like he just went into the game wanting to hate it and where do you get with an attitude like that, really? You get just what you ask for. Yahtzee chose a Smuggler as his class but doesn’t seem too impressed with it. My Smuggler is…
TOR TV: A New Meme (probably the greatest machinima to date)
This may be one of the the dumbest thing I’ve watched all week – and I have had a REALLY strange week so far — but it still made me laugh out loud. Kudos I’m not sure how to describe this video, I guess you just have to watch it your self. Please help us out though and write your own description in the comments 🙂 Interested in SWTOR Movies?
