Battlefront II Is Back in the PS4 Download Charts — and the Player Surge Is Real

Star Wars Battlefront II continues to behave like a game that absolutely refuses to stay in the archive. According to PlayStation’s official April 2026 PlayStation Store download charts, Star Wars Battlefront II was the 8th most downloaded PS4 game in the US/Canada and the 10th most downloaded PS4 game in Europe last month. That would be notable for any older multiplayer shooter. For Battlefront II, it is even louder because the game has not had a major official content update since EA and DICE wrapped up the live content roadmap with The Battle on Scarif back in 2020. EA’s own Battlefront page still points to the April 2020 update as the moment the game’s “vision” was completed after more than two years of free content. In other words: no new official expansion. No new season. No big publisher comeback campaign. Just players coming back anyway. The Numbers Are Moving Again…

We have had Star Wars themed games for the PlayStation since 1995. In this video from PSNext, we can see the full evolution of Star Wars games for the this platform – from those early days in 1995 (when I was just a girl) to as recently as 2017. What will the future hold for PlayStation and Star Wars? Only time will tell. In the meantime, check out this video for a recap of all the Star Wars games PlayStaion has brought to us over the years….

Star Wars: Battlefront Hits VR With PlayStation

With the VR wars in full swing, Sony fell somewhat behind as far as spectacular and hype-filled announcements were concerned at least, but they were apparently only squaring off to release this one: it looks like there will be a Star Wars Battlefront experience coming to Sony’s PlayStation VR as a fruit of the partnership between EA and Sony and as one of the 50 games which will be available for the VR device come its October 2016 release. The announcement was made at Sony’s GDC presentation which focused on the VR headset. Now then, as the expression “Star Wars battlefront experience” clues us in, it’s not an actual game we’re looking at, rather something described as “a cinematic gaming experience” by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Andrew House. House also said that there would be no shortage of content for the upcoming VR platform, given how some 230 developers are already…
