This week I sat down with the largest guild in all of ToR, The Dark, a great bunch of Sith PvE’ers, that even though they are so big, is still closely knit.
We wanted to keep it simple and after many ideas we realized most of them included “dark” so we just stuck with that.
Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild?
Were a Sith guild that basically just wants to have fun and enjoy the games story. Were PVE and endgame Raiding focuesed but were also very diverse.
How did your guild come about?
Our leader started the guild with him and one of his friends started the guild by themselves and within 1 day had 60 people with no recruiting! After a week the guild had 200 members, so basically by freak occurrence.
What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP
What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
We have our Guild leader and a Council that make guild decisions. And we run the guild by allowing members to elect council positions to ensure members have a voice.
How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
Our leaders are expected to actively participate in the guild but were very understanding of members and we realize that real life must come first.
Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild? If yes, could you tell us a bit about it?
We have a separate ranking system for each class type but it is still simple and easy to understand. We have our Guild leader at top then Council members and then are our officers and last but not least enlisted members.
Why do you run a guild?
No one person runs our guild but we believe that by standing together you strengthen the individual.
How do you approach Raid Planning?
We have several different systems that we have ready to implement, but until we have access to the raiding within the game we cant commit to a specific one yet.
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
We are always open to new recruits but we have hit population capacity of 500 so only as positions open up can we accept new members.
There is no age requirement but we do require members to behave maturely and respect other players.
What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
We as a guild have not carried over from another game we started from scratch for TOR and have since thrived and become a friendly player base.
How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
Only 4-5 of us know each other in real life so we have since begun to game in other games together and participate in our forum and ventrillo discussions.
What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
Many of us have split into groups to play games like Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and other various games.
Guild systems in other MMOs? (Likes/Dislikes)
We believe that every system has its pro’s and con’s, but we like the overall system of World of Warcraft but would like to see a system like GuildWars as well where you have a guild “hangout place”
If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
You can head to our ToR guild website at http://www.swtor.com/guilds/
One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
We would like to see more support for large Guilds, we have noticed the ToR site is very glitchy when you have more than 300 people.
