Fast-food Star Wars promotions are usually a little chaotic by design, but Burger King’s new The Mandalorian & Grogu tie-in actually sounds like it knows exactly what kind of chaos it wants. Burger King has officially announced a limited-time menu launching May 4 at participating U.S. locations to celebrate the upcoming movie, which hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
And yes, the menu names are doing a lot.
According to Burger King’s official announcement, the lineup includes the BBQ Bounty Whopper, Grogu’s Blue Cookie Shake, Grogu’s Garlic Chicken Fries, and Imperial Cheddar Ranch Tots. The chain is also rolling out four collectible cups, available with select purchases including the Bounty Bundle, the BBQ Bounty Whopper Combo, and the 12-piece Grogu’s Garlic Chicken Fry Combo.
The actual menu is very Star Wars-branded in the best possible way
The most obvious headliner is the BBQ Bounty Whopper, which Burger King says comes with a flame-grilled quarter-pound beef patty, Swiss cheese, pickle chips, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a creamy Bounty BBQ Sauce, all served in a helmet-shaped carton inspired by “the galaxy’s most legendary bounty hunter.” That is either wonderfully committed branding or the point where your lunch officially becomes merchandise. Probably both.
Then there is the Grogu side of the operation, which is doing exactly what you would expect from a campaign built around the franchise’s most marketable small creature. Burger King says Grogu’s Blue Cookie Shake blends soft serve with blue sugar cookie syrup and tops it with blue cookies, while Grogu’s Garlic Chicken Fries come seasoned with parmesan and garlic and arrive in Grogu-themed packaging with garlic dipping sauce on the side. The Imperial Cheddar Ranch Tots round things out with cheddar-filled tots flavored with ranch seasoning and served in an Imperial-themed carton.
There is also a kids meal push
Burger King is not stopping at the main menu. The company also says a The Mandalorian and Grogu King Jr. Meal begins April 28, including either a hamburger or four-piece nuggets, applesauce, fries, milk or apple juice, plus a Mandalorian-themed toy while supplies last. So yes, this is very much one of those “everyone in the car is getting Star Wars-branded food now” campaigns.
Why this one will probably work
The real reason this promotion feels likely to land is that it understands the assignment. It is not pretending to be subtle, and it is not trying to be premium cinema cuisine either. It is leaning hard into May the 4th timing, themed packaging, Grogu-colored sugar, and bounty hunter branding just a few weeks before the movie arrives. Burger King’s own statement frames the whole thing as a way to bring the excitement of The Mandalorian & Grogu directly into restaurants, and honestly, that is exactly what this looks like.
So if your Star Wars diet this spring includes a blue shake, garlic chicken fries, and a collectible cup, Burger King would like you to know this is the way.
