Galaxy of Heroes Update Adds Vel Sartha Farming and Cleans Up Key Bugs

The latest Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes update is not just another round of background maintenance. It ties together a busy New Republic-flavored week, adds a new farmable character shard location, and fixes a handful of bugs that were quietly making parts of the Holotable more annoying than intended.

EA and Capital Games outlined the changes in the official Galaxy of Heroes Update 5-27-2026, with three major kit reveals leading the news section: Colonel Ward, Grogu & Anzellans, and Rotta the Hutt.

That is a lot of tiny chaos, Hutt violence, and New Republic paperwork for one update.

Three New Kit Reveals Lead the Update

The headline news is the trio of new kit reveals, all of which point toward the current shape of Galaxy of Heroes: more New Republic synergy, more Grand Arena pressure, and more extremely specific Star Wars characters becoming surprisingly complicated tactical problems.

We have already broken down Colonel Ward’s New Republic Support kit, which is built around debuffs, counterattacks, Stealth punishment, and making enemies regret hitting the wrong targets.

The update also highlights Grogu & Anzellans, a Light Side Healer unit with Mandalorian and New Republic synergy. Yes, Grogu is cute. No, that does not mean the kit is harmless.

And then there is Rotta the Hutt, who arrives as a Light Side Hutt Cartel bruiser with solo power, Bleeds, Thermal Detonators, and a finisher called Showboat. Subtle? Not remotely. Appropriate? Absolutely.

Vel Sartha Is Now Farmable

The other main gameplay news is that Vel Sartha shards are now farmable from Cantina Battles 9-C.

That is the kind of update line that looks small until you are actively working on the character. Farmable shard placement is always a big shift for players who have been waiting to move a unit from “interesting but awkward” to actually usable.

Vel’s move to Cantina Battles gives players a clearer path toward building her up without relying purely on earlier availability windows.

Bug Fixes Target Omicrons, Quests, and Unit Tags

The bug and adjustment list is also worth a look, especially for players who have been running into strange quest or targeting behavior.

The update adjusts the find flow for Omicron materials so it now points players toward the correct Cantina missions. Major Partagaz also gets a clearer Unique ability description, stating that at the start of battle, if all allies are Imperial Security Bureau, he cannot be targeted for the rest of the battle.

There are also several practical fixes: Armor Shred should no longer occasionally count multiple times toward quests against Raid Bosses, the URoRRuR’R’R Conquest description string has been corrected, and the “Defeat 10 Bounty Hunters” quest should now work as intended.

Loaned unit portraits have also been fixed, which is not glamorous, but anything that makes the UI less weird is welcome.

Imperial Remnant Tags and Palpatine Datacron Fixes

One of the more useful tag corrections affects Moff Gideon, Remnant Stormtrooper Commander, and Remnant Recon Stormtrooper. They now correctly count as Imperial Remnant enemies.

That kind of faction-tag fix can matter more than it sounds, especially in a game where quests, counters, datacrons, and faction-specific mechanics can hinge on whether a unit is being counted properly.

The update also fixes an issue with Emperor Palpatine’s datacron affix that could sometimes soft lock the game. The description has been updated to match the new function: the enemy defeating Palpatine now gets a bonus turn and is then defeated on that bonus turn.

That is still very Palpatine.

Even when losing, he insists on making the paperwork unpleasant.

A Busy Patch for a Busy SWGOH Week

This update is not the flashiest patch in Galaxy of Heroes history, but it does a lot of useful work.

It gives players a new Vel Sartha farm, points everyone toward three major kit reveals, cleans up several quest and description issues, fixes Imperial Remnant counting, and adjusts a Palpatine datacron interaction that could cause problems.

More importantly, it shows how busy this corner of the Star Wars gaming galaxy currently is. Between New Republic units, Mandalorian-era characters, Hutt Cartel bruisers, and constant balance cleanup, Galaxy of Heroes remains one of the most active entries in the complete history of Star Wars games.

The Holotable rarely sits still.

This update is proof.
