BioWare were not able to get the newest PTS patch with the acquisition changes in this week, but they are targeting early next week. In the meantime, Eric Musco took some time to talk us through what is coming in this round of changes as quite a bit is changing. Check it out: Targeting GearWe talked about this in the last post but just to reiterate: we hear your concerns about gear dropping too randomly and so we are introducing mechanisms to work towards exactly what you want (with one change from last post). Here is what is available in this patch: New vendors will sell almost every set tactical and set bonus for tech fragments and credits. The only items not included on the vendors are set bonus and tacticals that drop directly in Corellia and Dxun, crafted sets and tacticals, and the Onderon Reputation vendor set. Corellia and…

Are loot boxes in video games considered gambling?
This is a rather hot topic in the video game industry nowadays. With the amount of popularity the gaming industry has today and the amount of money circulating it, it’s nothing strange that, for large companies, most of the motivation when creating games simply comes from wanting to make money. Now, this is by no means a bad thing in itself considering companies exist to make a profit and we are in no way condemning them for trying to do their job. A high ranking executive often doesn’t concern himself with gameplay, story, immersion, or graphics because, ultimately, that is not what he’s hired to do, the same way a game designer tries hard to make the best game possible within the budget constraints and in agreement with the management which is why there is surely often internal conflict. Everything needs to stay in balance. A game must earn enough…
SWTOR: Discussion Topic – Master Mode Operation Gear Drops
Eric Musco started an interesting Discussion were they want players to speak there mind on Master Mode Operation Gear. Check it out: Discussion Topic: Master Mode Operation Gear Drops | 06.14.2017, 09:29 PM Hey folks, Since the launch of Galactic Command we have made great strides to change it to be a supporting gearing system versus the primary means of gearing your characters. We still have improvements to make and we will be talking more about gearing methodology in an upcoming discussion topic. For today, we really want to focus on the drops currently coming from Master Mode Operations, as this has been a hot topic. Let’s start with some context on how gearing currently works for Operations at each difficulty (all examples assume 8-player): Story Mode Operations: Each boss drops a specific Tier 2 Legendary quality item Ex: Soa in Eternity Vault will always drop 2 offhands Veteran Mode…
SWTOR: Changes to Operation Drops in 5.2
Eric Musco took on the official forums and released BioWares plans for the operation loot table coming with patch 5.2. This describes the plans forh specific drops attached to the each bosses. Check it out below: Hey folks, If you haven’t read it yet, we recommend you head over to the “Tier 4 in Game Update 5.2” thread and learn about the new Tier of gear coming next Update. Along with the new Tier of gear, we are making quite a few changes to what gear drops in Operations. For endgame PvE players we know there is a desire to gear primarily through Operations. The first change we are making is specific Unassembled Gear Pieces will now drop on each Operation boss in the game (except Golden Fury and Colossal Monolith). This means when you kill a boss in an Operation, you will know exactly what is going to drop…
Eternal Empire Recon Walker changes comming to SWTOR
Eric Musco just informed the community that The Eternal Empire Recon Walker, previously a rare drop from Star Fortress, will drop in Eternal Championship and become bound on legacy. Hey folks, I wanted to pass on some information regarding a change to the Eternal Empire Recon Walker that is coming in Game Update 4.4. Currently, the Walker is a rare drop from The Exarch in Star Fortresses. We are making two changes to the mount. First, the Walker will now also be available from an Eternal Championship vendor. Second, we are changing the item from Bind on Equip to Bind on Legacy. If you have an active GTN sale at the time of 4.4’s release, this will behave normally. However at the time of sale or expiration, the item will become Bind on Legacy. Thanks everyone. -eric
Nightmare Mode will drop guaranteed 224 gear with SWTOR Patch 4.2
Eric Musco just informed the community, that due to the community feedback, Bioware will make Nightmare mode drop guaranteed 224 gear again with Patch 4.2 sometime in March. Update on Nightmare Loot Changes | 01.25.2016, 08:58 PM Hey folks, Recently, we announced that starting in Game Update 4.1, only the final boss in each Nightmare Operation would have a 100% chance to drop 224 gear. The dev team has been very actively following all of the feedback that you in the community have been posting regarding this change. With that in mind, they are making one additional change… Starting in Game Update 4.2 all bosses in Nightmare Operations will drop 224 rating gear. We saw a lot of feedback over the past few weeks where many of you felt strongly that Nightmare should be a guaranteed source for the best gear, even if that means the priority HM was equivalent….
Republic has Better Color Crystals than Empire
There have been several accusations of bias on the part of BioWare in SWTOR. Some were said in jest but others seem to have some real backing to them. Could there be a legitimate case of favoritism towards one side? While BioWare insists that this is not the case and that they created the game with balance to both sides, here is some evidence that Republic has better color crystals than the Empire for lightsabers. This is actually the case for several weapons, especially if they have the same name for both sides. Here we can see that Empire players get the Q48 crystal but Republic side gets the Q56 crystal. There are other instances of this in the game. What gives, BioWare? Do you feel like the Republic has better color crystals in the game? What about just better gear/weapons overall? Are there any other cases where you think…
