How to enable Anti-Aliasing in SWTOR

SWTOR looks great, that is a fact that all of us playing it know. However, did you know you can make it look even better by just tweaking a few things here and there? You don’t have to be a computer pro to learn how to enable anti-aliasing in SWTOR and get a better look in the game. This write-up from PC Gamer tells you exactly how to do it- easy peasy! For Nvidia cards, the live version of TOR doesn’t allow forced AA via the Nvidia control panel, so here’s what you need to do. Locate the following file path: (C) > Users > (user name) > AppData > Local > Swtor > swtor > Settings > client_settings Make a copy of the “client_settings.ini” file, just in case, then open it up for editing. Find the line that says [Renderer] and add this line beneath it: AntiAliasingLevel = x…

SWTOR Introductory E-mail Upon Reaching Level 10 and Other Increments

Have you gotten an email from BioWare when you reached level 10 in the game? Have you gotten one at any other increments such as 20, 30, etc? While I personally did not get one at level 10 nor at level 20 and so on, some players are reporting introductory emails like this one. The email titled “Helpful tips and advice for level 10 and beyond” comes with a congratulations from BioWare about your new accomplishment and then reminds you of some things in the game that your character can now achieve or acquire at this level. It’s a nice little addition for a player and it’s a sign that BioWare wants to go the extra mile to help players and also to make them feel more welcome to the game. While some players (like myself) are not getting the emails, it is believed that they only go out to…

SWTOR List of Slash Commands and Emotes for In-Game

With prelaunch coming, what better time than now to come across this list of slash commands and emotes for in-game SWTOR? Slash Commands: Assuming they are still accurate when the servers go live (which we cannot guarantee at this time), here are some slash commands you can use in-game: Numbers like /0 /1 /2 /3 will represent chat channels /coverbar /date /dismiss /dnd /duel /e /emote /flag /follow /friend /gabdicate /gdisband /general /ginvite /gkick /gquit /gremove /group /grp /guild /hideui /inspect /invite /lag /logout /me /nameplates See the complete list for more slash commands. If you are a veteran MMORPGer, you will probably be familiar with many of these already so a good policy is just to test slash commands you know to have worked in other games in the system of SWTOR and see if they work for you. Chances are, they probably will (if nothing changes on launch)….

There are loads of WoW players making the move to SWTOR, including the majority of my WoW guild’s most active players and raiding members.   If you’re one of these players, you need to learn about the differences in the two games (aside from the obvious) so you understand what to expect and what not to. While we have all heard the comparisons about all the similarities, there are still some things that are very different in the two games.   SWTOR Hub has some tips for transitioning WoW players which covers the following points:   No U.I. Macro Possibilities in SWTOR

One of the biggest complaints to come out of SWTOR testing so far has been the lack of auto-attack. Another “issue” with the game so far is that there is no ability to create macros. As any MMO vet will tell you, macros are essential to play the game to its fullest potential. There are also certain games and classes that would be nearly impossible to play efficiently without great macros (think of warriors in WoW). The only way to do this currently in SWTOR is with the Razer keyboard and while it (and the mouse) are pretty darn nifty, we don’t all have the funds to spend on such items just to get the most out of our game. They can be very pricey- after you’ve already paid a great deal on the game itself. When staff was asked if they would change this in the future, they did…

Stuff learned from this weeks beta

Here is some hints, tips, and settings that I found doing this weekends beta. If you are using ATI, update your drivers. I think it’s 11.10 right now. You don’t want 11.8. You’ll probably spend about 3-5 hours on your starter planet which takes you to level 10, or very close to 10. At around level 8-9 you’ll get your first companion. Once you finish off the planet you’ll go to your space station hub. As soon as you walk on to the hub, if you are level 10 you will immediately see a quest giver who will tell you to choose your advanced class (AC). You will then go over to your trainer and make your choice. If you’re not level 10 you may wish to remain on your starting planet until you are. At this level you’re ready for your first Flashpoint as well. Make sure to do…

Abbreviations and Acronyms for SWTOR: Do You Have Your SWTOR Dictionary Handy?

The much-anticipated launch of SWTOR is on the way in less than 2 months now- are you ready? If you don’t know all the lingo, then you might not be as ready as you thought you were. Maybe you thought you already knew all there was to know about SWTOR but if you’re new to the game, there is one thing you will notice- the lingo is full of abbreviations and acronyms. This is pretty typical of an MMO or any video game for that matter, but if you want to know what’s going on and avoid looking like a SWTOR newb, then you need to crash course on what the big ones mean (unless you plan on pulling out the SWTOR dictionary each time you play). Luckily, someone has already done all the hard work for you and compiled a full list of SWTOR and MMORPG abbreviations and acronyms…

Tips, tricks and knowledge from SWTOR Beta

With more people playing SWTOR beta and game testing now, we are seeing more info coming out about it. While these players are still bound to the NDA, it is to be expected that some general knowledge will come out about the game. The closer we get to December release, the more info will come out to the public. On Reddit we are finding several posts started by users looking to share tips and tricks and other knowledge. Here is a snippet from one post, for example: Vehicle training costs 40 000 credits and a vehicle costs 4 000. Have at least that much by the time you hit 25. Companion weapons are upgradeable with mods, do not vendor them! You can only have one crafting skill but can have 2 gathering (may require confirmation). When in doubt, follow your class quests. More often than not your story quests will…
