Now SWTOR bonus experience weekends have returned (yay!) and if you want to be sure you get the most time and experience in for leveling an alt, or maybe for a friend who is new to the game and wants to get caught up to you, here is a little mini guide to help you get the most from the weekends.
First, you need to understand the different ways that you can gain experience and level your alts. So here are two great options you have within the game:
- Do your main planet quest line and your class quest line. This can actually get you to 55 with double experience weekends without having to do any side questions. You will need to use experience boosts and the class quest experience boosts along with it. You can blow right through on an alt this way in a weekend if you have the dedicated time to play.
- The second option is to use Warzones to level up with the double experience. You can use the legacy boosts (found in character perks), and the warzone experience boost in order to help you get ¼ to 1/8 of your level per warzone, based on your current actual level.
So the next question that people usually have is “Which is faster?” I’ve tested both, also after leveling characters up in PvP in other games and I find that warzones are faster when you’re lower level but as you level up, it will slow down. Once you are 40+, you will probably find it faster to do regular questing. Of course if you just really like Warzones and want to finish it out that way, you’ll get there but it might take a little longer.
There is another advantage to leveling up using the Warzones and this is that you won’t have to worry much about keeping up with gear. Because of bolster, you don’t have to worry that you are not getting as many greens for your level as you would if you were questing. You can also use your coms to get you PvP gear at certain levels and with all those warzones, you won’t have to worry about not having the coms.
If you are leveling with questing instead, you will need to try to maintain your gear level with your actual character level in order to beat the mobs at your level.
Do you have any other tips you want to add? Have you tried one of these methods before?
Happy leveling!
