Today we hat the chance to speak with Ardinicus – Guild leader of Cynical. Cynical is a Semi-Casual Sith Empire guild on the Mind Trick server. They are an East Coast (EST) PVE Guild, currently recruiting for 16 man Operations. They use an EP/GP loot system. Right now the guild is actively seeking a competent, reliable player for their 2nd MT slot. Be you Powertech, Assassin, or Juggernaut (PT or Assassin would be nice for the cross-class synergies, but that’s not a requirement), if you can consistently and reliably be online during out raid times, have Ventrilo with a headset so that you can both clearly listen and be heard clearly, and want to tank endgame Operations encounters as well as Hard Mode Flashpoints, World Bosses, etc., then please apply, or talk to an Officer (Ardinicus, Tenebra, Felgrim).
Check out our interview below:
Where did your guilds name come from?
Originally from rift
Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild?
Cynical is a semi-casual guild that enjoys end-game content without the stresses of pushing through content on a 5-7 day a week schedule. Our atmosphere is friendly but we know how to buckle down when we need too.
How did your guild come about?.
Ripwire, the originator of cynical, wanted to create an end-game raiding guild with a friendlier atmosphere in rift beta.
What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
PvE
What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
Our guild runs similar to a democracy, as in we take a lot of info from our raiders. The officer team does not dictate what happens with the guild. Rather, we take feedback and guide the guild in a progressive manner to create a great atmosphere and continue the progression.
How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
We have people in the guild that play everyday damn near ALL day, *cough* Tenebra *cough* to people that just play casually but enjoy the other people in the guild. We run the guild to keep progressing in content. We don’t plan on logging in 10 min. after a major patch and clearing new raid content, but we do clear it.
Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
We do have ranks but not so much a hierarchy. We have member, recruits, raiders, elder raiders, and officers. These ranks are used, basically, for loot distribution rather then a hierarchy. The officers are on the same level as everyone else, we just ensure that we are helping the guild as a whole rather then individual people, even if that means some people feelings are hurt.
Why did you choose the Sith Empire?
Bad people are good. nuff said 😀
Why do you run a guild?
To ensure a fair and friendly atmosphere. Far to many times have we been in guilds where an officer or officers are yelling and/or believe that you MUST do as they say because they are the end all be all. We don’t want that atmosphere and we can ensure that by running our own guild.
How do you approach Raid Planning?
We prioritize the raids and the encounters in those raids. What do we NEED in a certain fight, who do we have that can fill those roles, who needs gear from that fight, who doesnt need gear from that fight, who has sat the most recent, and is there anyone who is willing to sit. If the fight is progression, as in we have not clear the content yet, we add the ranks into the decision making, because we want to reward those that stay with us for the long term.
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
We do stay open to recruitement, but we dont just let any tom, dick, or harry join. For example, if someone is saying in chat LFG, we’re not going out of our way to whisper that person and /ginvite them. We want to keep an atmosphere of good people.
Age Requirement?
There is no age requirement. However, we have denied people in the past because they were young and we don’t think the language and/or subject matter in vent would be suitable for them.
Guild size?
70 members, which includes alts of guildmates.
What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
atmosphere
What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
We have different chapters for Tera, and Guild Wars 2 at the moment.
If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
The best place to find all the information on the guild is cynical-sw.guildlaunch.com. However, you can always whisper people in game. I can almost certain there will be someone on. 😛
One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
Give us something varied to do at endgame rather then running dailies and ops. Variety will keep people around, dailies and operations get boring after doing them too many times.
