Understanding the Classes in SWTOR

SWTOR Game Update 7.7.1 Livestream Recap – Flashpoints, Rewards, and Big Changes Ahead

Game Update 7.7.1 is warming up the hyperdrive, and the latest livestream delivered a hefty rundown of what’s coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic. From new Galactic Season rewards to long-awaited quality-of-life updates, there’s plenty to digest—and a few surprises along the way.

Twitch Drops: Watch and Loot

The first headline is all about Twitch drops. Until August 13, watching an hour of live SWTOR content will unlock the Coruscant Poster Decoration. When 7.7.1 launches, four hours of Twitch time nets you the TF-6 Striker Mount. Just make sure your SWTOR and Twitch accounts are linked—don’t be that person who watches for hours and gets nothing but regret.

Story Content: New Arcs and Date Night Missions

The team teased that the next story arc, Galactic Threads, is slated for Game Update 7.8, with Master’s Enigma to follow in 7.8.1. Story delays? Maybe. But at least they’re being upfront.
Also coming: two new Date Night Missions with fan-favorites Kira Carsen and Torian Cadera, arriving with 7.8.1. Who said romance is dead in the galaxy far, far away?

Galactic Season 9 – Flashpoint Resurgence

Season 9 kicks off with 7.7.1 and will run for 26 weeks. This time, Kai Zykken wants players testing Czerka Combat Enhancers, which add some flashy new buffs:

  • Experimental Repulsor Field – Lift an enemy and hurl them into another, Jedi-style.
  • Projectile Probes – Companion drones that rain fire during combat.

Season rewards include:

  • Legacy Titles: Ancient, Ambitious
  • Character Titles: The Rebel, Resurged
  • Mounts: Verdier Luxline, Minas Stinger, and a swarm of bee-themed rides (because why not).
  • Meta Achievement Reward: T7-01 Rugged Customization.

Quality-of-Life Upgrades: Faster Queues and Fewer Spacebars

The Activity Finder has been overhauled, letting you queue for multiple roles across your combat styles. Bonus: Veteran and Master Flashpoint cutscenes can now be skipped entirely, with fade-to-black transitions replacing the dreaded spacebar marathon.

Low-level players will also enjoy better loot drops, while under-75 characters get improved boss rewards.

Combat Tweaks and Class Balancing

The balance pass continues with small but meaningful adjustments:

  • Assassin/Shadow – Force Speed cooldown reduced by 7s at level 73.
  • Operative/Scoundrel – Exfiltrate/Scamper cooldown reduced to 7s.

Expect the full list of changes in the 7.7.1 patch notes.

Subscriber Perks and F2P Boosts

From September 9 to December 9, subscribers can earn a new login currency each week, redeemable for gear, boosts, and a unique Andor™-inspired droid customization for companions 2V-R8 and C2-N2.

Free-to-Play and Preferred players also get more breathing room:

  • Rest XP, Legacy Titles, companion customizations, and Hide Head slot are now unlocked.
  • The first Cargo Bay is free, and quickbars are no longer gated.

Cartel Market Highlights

7.7.1 brings a new hairstyle, Nightfall Operative Glasses, and the PAV-11 Imperial Scout Mount, all with Andor™ vibes.
Cartel Market sales roll out in waves: Mounts (July 30), Tunings & Toys (Aug 11), Weapons (Aug 23), Armor (Sept 4), and Decorations (Sept 16).

Character Modernization and DirectX 12

The ongoing character model revamp now includes Rattataki with improved textures and lighting. Hundreds of new hair and montral color options have been unlocked across multiple species.

The team also confirmed that a DirectX 12 build is in active development, with a Technical Alpha on the Public Test Server planned in the near future. This could be one of the biggest tech leaps SWTOR has seen since launch.

The Road to 7.7.1

All of this rolls into Game Update 7.7.1: Flashpoint Resurgence, launching later in August 2025. With Galactic Season 9, a returning Feast of Prosperity, and tech upgrades on the horizon, SWTOR is quietly gearing up for its next big chapter. And yes, we’re still waiting on that juicy new story content—but at least there’s plenty to keep players busy.
