SWGOH The Ronin Kit Guide: Best Team, Abilities, Omicron, and How He Works

The Ronin is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and he might be the coolest character in the entire Myths & Legends rollout.

Darth Jar Jar is funnier.

Mara Jade Skywalker has the Legends weight.

Jaxxon is pure old-comic chaos.

But The Ronin brings something different to the holotable: Star Wars: Visions energy, Sith synergy, a summoned droid, Bleed pressure, Critical Damage scaling, and a Territory Wars Omicron that looks built for players who enjoy making Sith teams more annoying than legally necessary.

The official The Ronin kit reveal from EA puts him inside the new Myths & Legends era, while the The Ronin unit data on SWGOH.GG shows a Dark Side Sith Attacker with a strange little engine built around Boiling Point, R5-D56, Bleed, Siphon, and enemies hiding behind Taunt, Stealth, or Resilient Defense.

Translation: he is not here to politely tap someone with a lightsaber.

He is here to punish defensive nonsense.

The Ronin Quick Overview

The Ronin is a Dark Side Sith Attacker from Star Wars: Visions, based on the wandering Sith-inspired warrior from the anthology’s alternate take on the galaxy.

In SWGOH terms, his kit seems built around:

Faction: Sith
Role: Attacker
Best mode: Territory Wars, thanks to his Omicron
Core mechanics: Bleed, Siphon, Critical Damage scaling, Turn Meter gain, summoned droid, anti-Taunt pressure
Summon: R5-D56
Likely partner: Darth Jar Jar / Gungan Sith leader setup
Best target types: enemies with Taunt, Stealth, or Resilient Defense

That last part is important.

The Ronin does not just hit hard. He gets better when enemies are hiding behind common defensive tools. Tanks, stealth units, and Resilient Defense targets all help feed parts of his kit.

Very rude.

Very useful.

Best The Ronin Team

The most obvious early team is a non-Galactic Legend Sith team, especially in Territory Wars.

Based on his kit text, The Ronin wants:

A Gungan Sith in the Leader slot
A Sith Healer ally
Other Sith allies
Enemies who rely on Taunt, Stealth, bonus Turn Meter, or Resilient Defense

That points directly toward the Myths & Legends Sith structure.

The big clue is his Unique, Mercy Left Behind. SWGOH.GG’s ability data says The Ronin starts with stacks of Boiling Point, and when those stacks expire, he summons R5-D56. If the ally in the Leader slot is a Gungan Sith, stacks come off faster. If there is an allied Sith Healer, even more stacks are removed.

So, yes.

The Ronin appears to be another piece of the Darth Jar Jar machine.

And because this is SWGOH, the sentence “Darth Jar Jar machine” is now something we have to say seriously.

How Boiling Point and R5-D56 Work

The Ronin starts battle with Boiling Point stacks.

At the start of his turns, those stacks tick down. When Boiling Point reaches zero, he summons R5-D56, his droid companion.

That summon is a major part of his kit.

When R5-D56 arrives, The Ronin gains extra Defense Penetration and Max Health until the end of battle, while Sith allies gain bonus Protection for a turn. R5-D56 also brings his own attacks, Shock, Bleed support, Critical Chance Siphon, and bonus-turn mechanics.

In plain English:

The Ronin starts dangerous.

Then his droid shows up and things get worse.

The trick will be making R5-D56 arrive quickly enough to matter. That is why the Gungan Sith leader and Sith Healer clauses matter so much.

If you are trying to use The Ronin without the right Sith structure, you may still get damage.

But you probably will not get the full engine.

Basic Ability: Wandering Steel Hums

The Ronin’s basic, Wandering Steel Hums, deals Physical damage and gives him Offense Up.

More importantly, every time he uses it, it increases the damage of Oaths Buried Beneath Silence until the end of battle. R5-D56 also gains stacking Max Health whenever this basic is used.

If the target is Shocked and the ally in the Leader slot is a Gungan Sith, the attack is guaranteed to critically hit if possible.

So the basic is not just filler.

It sets up his special damage, helps R5-D56 scale, and benefits from Shock when the proper Sith setup is active.

That is exactly the kind of slow-building kit SWGOH players either love or hate depending on whether it is on their side.

Special Ability: Oaths Buried Beneath Silence

This is the big punishment button.

Oaths Buried Beneath Silence deals Physical damage, but it becomes much nastier against enemies with Resilient Defense or Taunt. Against those targets, it deals heavily increased damage and inflicts Armor Shred, which cannot be evaded or resisted.

It also inflicts stacks of Bleed, and every time the ability is used, it increases the damage of The Ronin’s basic until the end of battle.

There is also a Siphon layer: The Ronin Siphons Critical Damage from the target enemy, and R5-D56 gains the same amount.

That is the identity right there.

The Ronin does not simply damage a tank.

He cuts into it, shreds armor, applies Bleed, steals Critical Damage, and makes both himself and his droid more threatening over time.

Subtle?

No.

Appropriate?

Absolutely.

Unique Ability: Mercy Left Behind

Mercy Left Behind is where The Ronin becomes more than a basic Sith attacker.

At the start of battle, he gains Boiling Point stacks. Once they are gone, R5-D56 is summoned. The Ronin also gains extra Critical Damage, Advantage when Manipulated enemies take turns, Turn Meter when enemies attack out of turn, and more Critical Damage on his own turns based on enemies with Resilient Defense, Stealth, or Taunt.

This makes him especially interesting into teams that rely on defensive layers or out-of-turn attacks.

If the enemy team is hiding, tanking, countering, assisting, or trying to stall behind annoying mechanics, The Ronin is designed to start collecting value from it.

That could make him very matchup-dependent.

But in the right matchup, he sounds nasty.

Territory Wars Omicron: Is It Worth It?

The Ronin’s Omicron is built for Territory Wars, and it requires all allies to be non-Galactic Legend Sith.

That already makes the intended home pretty clear.

In Territory Wars, while R5-D56 is active, The Ronin gains extra Speed. While The Ronin is active, R5-D56 gains extra Offense. The Ronin also gains Alert and Speed Up when attacking the enemy Leader, and both he and R5-D56 gain more Siphon when Manipulated enemies begin their turns.

There is more.

Allies with Emergency Powers gain Defense Penetration, and enemies with Bleed lose Max Health when they gain Resilient Defense, Stealth, or Taunt. The Ronin also gains Turn Meter from that.

That is a very specific anti-defensive package.

Is it an instant Omicron? Probably not for everyone.

If your guild cares about Territory Wars and you are building the Myths & Legends Sith lineup, this Omicron is worth watching closely. If you are casual, low on Omicrons, or not building Darth Jar Jar’s Sith structure, wait for testing.

Territory Wars Omicrons can be amazing.

They can also become expensive decorations.

Best Mods for The Ronin

Early mod advice: build him for damage, Speed, and Critical stats.

His kit cares about Critical Damage, Siphon, scaling attacks, and taking turns often enough to tick down Boiling Point and build momentum.

Safe early mod sets:

Critical Damage + Critical Chance
Offense + Critical Chance
Speed + Critical Chance

Recommended primary stats:

Arrow: Speed
Triangle: Critical Damage
Cross: Offense
Circle: Health or Protection

Important substats:

Speed
Offense
Critical Chance
Critical Damage
Health

He is an attacker, but do not completely ignore survival. If he dies before R5-D56 gets value, the whole point starts falling apart.

Zeta and Omicron Priority

Based on the kit structure, Mercy Left Behind is the priority ability.

That is where Boiling Point, R5-D56, Critical Damage scaling, Turn Meter gain, Sith synergy, and the Territory Wars Omicron live.

Suggested early priority:

1. Unique: Mercy Left Behind
Core engine. This is the big one.

2. Special: Oaths Buried Beneath Silence
Important damage, Armor Shred, Bleed, and Siphon value.

3. Basic: Wandering Steel Hums
Useful because it scales the special and helps R5-D56, but likely after the Unique and Special.

4. Omicron only if you are serious about Territory Wars
Do not spend it just because The Ronin looks cool. That is how SWGOH gets you.

And yes, he does look cool.

That is the trap.

Where The Ronin Fits in Myths & Legends

The Ronin is one of the better examples of why the Myths & Legends era could actually work.

We already covered the broader era in our SWGOH Myths & Legends overview, along with Darth Jar Jar’s kit and our Mara Jade Skywalker kit guide.

But The Ronin brings a different flavor.

He is not a meme like Darth Jar Jar.

He is not classic Legends royalty like Mara.

He is the Visions lane: stylish, strange, mythic, and slightly outside the normal Star Wars box.

That makes him a perfect fit for an era built around Star Wars material that does not behave like standard canon roster filler.

Early Verdict: Cool, Niche, and Probably Dangerous in the Right Team

The Ronin looks like a character built for a specific Sith structure, not a universal plug-and-play attacker.

His best value likely comes from pairing him with the Myths & Legends Sith setup, speeding up R5-D56, punishing defensive enemies, and using his Territory Wars Omicron in the right guild environment.

The early read:

Best faction: Sith
Best mode: Territory Wars
Best partner: Darth Jar Jar / Gungan Sith leader setup
Core value: anti-Taunt pressure, Bleed, Siphon, scaling damage, summoned droid
Big question: whether the full Sith shell is strong enough to justify the investment
Who should care most: Territory Wars-focused players and anyone building the Myths & Legends Sith team

The Ronin is not the loudest addition in this era.

He might not even be the most important.

But he is easily one of the most interesting.

Because if SWGOH is going to pull from Star Wars: Visions, this is exactly how to do it: stylish, dangerous, weird, and just complicated enough to make roster planners sigh into their coffee.
