Star Wars: Squadrons is currently available for free

Electronic Arts doesn’t enjoy the greatest of reputations among Star Wars fans, and there are good reasons for that. When the games developer and publisher gets things right, it gets them very right indeed, but when it gets them wrong, they’re frequently awful. As a fandom, we’ve had some dreadful Star Wars products from EA over the years, but their form has been better thus far in the 2020s. When they released Star Wars: Squadrons at the end of 2020, it was late, but it was fantastic. It was well worth anybody’s money when it was brand new, and it’s still a great game now.  We appreciate that not everybody has a limitless budget for video games. There are a few people who won’t have picked up Star Wars: Squadrons when it first came out – partially because they didn’t have the cash and partially because they didn’t trust Electronic…

Star Wars Squadrons Full Movie Cinematic

Star Wars Squadrons is here and the cinematics are awesome! Some are even saying that when combined, they’re better than some of what Disney is putting out these days. I absolutely love it when someone puts all the cinematics together like this to create one full length movie you can watch. If you dig it, too, then you can check it out below. It’s a bit over 30 minutes long and not only is it very fun and interesting to watch, it also shows you a lot about what went into this game. Yes, these are the cutscenes but it gives you insights to the story and plot behind Squadrons, which I find really interesting whether you are currently playing the game or not. Star Wars Squadrons: A Review

Is Star Wars: Squadrons finally the new Star Wars game we’ve all been hoping for? Since it’s release on October 2nd, reviews of the game have been quite favorable. I’ve seen little, if any, complaints from people who have played it. If anything, the complaints have been that it’s an amazing game in a limited package and fans are wondering how that will play out in the future or for expanded content of the game. Let’s take a look for ourselves. First, for those who don’t know, what is Star Wars: Squadrons? Star Wars: Squadrons is a space combat game set in the Star Wars universe developed by Motive Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It has both multiplayer game modes and single-player campaigns. Squadrons allows you to play as an ace pilot for both the Empire and the…

Why is Star Wars: Squadrons $40?

Could it be because it doesn’t have the “breadth” of bigger EA games? And what does that even mean? Back in June, EA explained that their starfighter sim Star Wars: Squadrons would have zero microtransactions, which was surprising, since the game is supposed to have a lot of different cosmetics for pilots. Also surprising? The $40 price tag, which is significantly lower than other Star Wars games they’re putting out like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or even other non-Star Wars games like the new FIFA or Madden games, all of which sell for around $60. EA said it’s very specifically focused on the ‘fantasy’ of dogfighting in X-Wings and TIE Fighters, so it’s a bit cheaper than usual.  Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen explained in the quarter financial call that Squadrons will be more focused than other EA games. “Games all have different scales, and most of…

The Facts About “Star Wars: Squadrons”

For many years, new “Star Wars” content was few and far between. When video games were released, we were expected to be content to play them for years on end. The idea of a new movie was laughable, and after the misery of the prequel trilogy, there weren’t all that many people who were receptive to the idea of seeing one anyway. A live-action television series like “The Mandalorian” would have been unthinkable. We all know what’s changed since then. Disney came in, and since then, “Star Wars” has been everywhere. There are new films, new toys, new games, and of course, “The Mandalorian” is one of the best TV shows of any genre that we’ve seen in years.  While “The Mandalorian” appears to have pleased everybody, and the most recent three movies split the crowd, our relationship with the newer “Star Wars” video games is a little more complicated….

‘Star Wars: Squadrons’ Won’t Have Microtransactions

Are you ready for a new Star Wars game? EA has officially announced their long-awaited project code-named “Maverick”. Star Wars: Squadrons is a 5v5 dogfighting game releasing this Fall. It will feature a lot of customizations for your ships that you earn through gameplay. It has an emphasis on multiplayer but also has a single-player campaign, set in the time after the Battle of Endor. Initially, there were rumors that it might have microtransactions but those rumors have since been squashed. Motive Studios’ creative director Ian Frazier also said it isn’t a living game, meaning they won’t deliver post-launch content. “Our mindset has been very old school,” Frazier says. “We’re trying to say with this game that we have a $40 price point, we want to feel generous to players, and we want it to feel like a complete experience. Like ‘You gave us your $40. Here’s a game that you…
