“Star Wars: The Acolyte” Set to Introduce First Live-Action Wookiee Jedi

The Star Wars Cinematic Universe is about to expand in a groundbreaking way with the introduction of the first live-action Wookiee Jedi in the upcoming Disney+ show, “Star Wars: The Acolyte.” The series, helmed by showrunner Leslye Headland, is set in the High Republic era, a time long before the Star Wars prequel trilogy when the Jedi Order was at its peak. In a recent interview with the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Headland confirmed the inclusion of a Wookiee Jedi in the series. The inspiration for this character came from “Solo: A Star Wars Story” and the performance of actor Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. “It honestly started with Joonas,” Headland said. We thought it’d be cool to do a Wookiee, obviously they have a Wookiee Jedi in the High Republic, and we thought it’d be cool to have our own version of that and have a very different character design. While the special has been largely panned by critics and fans alike, it remains a fascinating artifact of the Star Wars franchise and a glimpse into the creative choices and cultural trends of the late 1970s. The special was commissioned by CBS and aired on November 17, 1978, just over a year after the release of the first Star Wars film. The special was intended to capitalize on the success of the film and generate interest in the upcoming sequel, The Empire Strikes Back. However, the special was plagued by production problems from the start. The original script was rewritten multiple times, and the special’s director and writers had little experience with the Star Wars universe. The storyline of the special…

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 10

Chapter 10 Lando held his breath as he brought them out of hyperspace.  BX had engaged the cloaking device before they had completely slowed to relative speed.  For a moment they were flying blind until the small extensions poked past the cloaking field.   Rae stood behind Lando’s chair, holding onto the back of it.   Nein monitored the ships systems from the co-pilot’s seat.   Lowbacca watched the forward screen from the engineer’s seat.   Nothing could be seen for a moment then the screen flickered and then they could see outside the ship.  “Cloaking devices suck,” Lando said.  “Sure they keep things from being able to see inside the field, but they also prevent you from being able to see out.”  Lowbacca growled and MTD translated.  “You are using passive probes?  How big are they?”  Lando nodded.  “They are a millimeter in width.  There are six that stick past the field.”  “Can’t…

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 5

Chapter 5 “Nien, I know.  Not really thrilled with it but it will take days if not weeks for the Jedi to make up their mind,” Lando said.  The two of them sat on the bridge of the Lady Luck with the door shut.   The flicking light from hyperspace filling the bridge. Nien waved his arms and gestured back to the door.  Lando sighed.  “Look, Nien, they tried to kill us.  You don’t try to kill someone in a business deal unless you are doing something you don’t want to get out.  And don’t tell me you changed your mind about the fact that we both agreed that this wasn’t something we could ignore.”  Nien made a face and gestured again back toward the hatchway.  “We take what we can get, bud.  We are going to head back to Yavin once we see if Takodana has anything for us.”  Nien…

Star War: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within Chapter 3

Scene 3 The Lady Luck descended into the atmosphere of Yavin 4.  Lando flew past a Mon Calamari Cruiser and four Nebulon B frigates that were stationed in orbit.   None of the ships contacted them but they were scanned multiple times.   “Yavin control to Lady Luck, please state the nature of your visit,” came an almost childlike voice from the comm.  “Yavin control, this is Lady Luck.  We are here to speak with,” Lando paused for a second giving Nien a glance who shrugged.  “Grand Master Skywalker.” “Affirmative, Lady Luck.   Sending coordinates for landing now.  Please be aware, we do not have automated guidance and the skies are busy.”  “Copy that, control.  Coordinates received.”  Lando banked the Lady Luck and descended toward the jungle below.  In the distance he could see the crescent of the gas giant rising and below a jagged hung of superstructure from the original Death Star. …

Star Wars: Darkness Rising: The Threat Within – Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Han leaned against the door frame and watched as the Lady Luck glided toward the landing deck.  He straightened up as he noticed several jagged pieces of metal sticking out from under the ship.   “What have you gotten yourself into Lando?” Han muttered.   Lando saw Han watching the ship come down.  “I didn’t expect him to meet me at the landing pad,” Lando said.  The ship dipped a little then leveled out.  “Number two repulsor is shot,” he said.  Nien nodded and sighed.  When the ship touched down, he motioned Lando toward the back saying something to him.  Lando smiled.  “Yeah, you get the easy job, I have to explain this to Han and Leia.”  Han winced as the landing ramp descended with an audible screech of protesting metal.   He watched Lando come down the ramp.  ‘He’s looking old,’ Han thought then laughed.  Lando was only a few…

Star Wars Battlefront II – The BB Update & Age of Rebellion on the way

Here are the latest patch notes for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 INCOMING TRANSMISSIONWe’re back with more news and information on the next update for Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. Back in December, we mentioned that both BB-8 and BB-9E would be coming to the game, and you also got a sneak-peek at them in the trailer we released. Known for his courage, BB-8 will play his part as an offensive hero. This will help balance out the light side, which currently has a support-oriented roster. With an Astromech joining the light side, it seems only fitting that the dark side should also get one. That’s where BB-9E comes into play. While BB-8’s bravery helps him charge into the battlefront, BB-9E is cold, calculating, and will play more of a support role, fitting in nicely with the dark side Hero roster. As January comes to a close, our attention turns to February and,…

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Interview Sheds Light on Game’s Dark Origins

In an interview with STACK, Respawn Entertainment’s narrative lead, Aaron Contreras provided further details about the backstory behind Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, gameplay info, and more. Why Fallen Order is Set Shortly After Revenge of the Sith When asked about the timeline of the game, Contreras stated that the Respawn team decided to roll with a period just a few years past Revenge of the Sith because they found it to be one of the most intriguing ages in the Star Wars franchise. Aaron went on to say that due to the Empire having immense power throughout the galaxy during this time and Order 66 being in place, this period paved the way for a story based on an emerging hero – one that has to stay off the Empire’s radar and fighting to flee persecution. Why Force Players to Utilize a Specific Character? Aaron also shed a little…
