The SWTOR team held a major developer livestream on November 19, giving players a deep look at everything coming in Game Update 7.8 “Pursuit of Ruin,” arriving December 2025. If you missed the broadcast, don’t worry — here’s a full breakdown of all the new story content, systems, rewards, PvP updates, and holiday events headed to the galaxy.

This update introduces one of the most ambitious open-world systems SWTOR has attempted in years, plus new rewards, new bundles, a new Stronghold, and the next chapter of Galactic Threads.

Galactic Threads Story Update

Good news for story fans:

  • English voice recording is complete for the next chapter.
  • French and German clients will temporarily use English voice-over with native subtitles until their respective dubs are finalized.

This next chapter picks up after Desperate Defiance, with tensions skyrocketing across the galaxy. Mandalore Shae Vizla has freed Darth Malgus, and everything from the Hidden Chain to Darth Nul’s holocron is coming to a breaking point.

Players will join key allies to uncover Shae’s motives, understand Malgus’s new path, and confront the growing threat head-on.

New Zone: Crash Site Outpost on Dantooine

A mysterious ship of unknown origin has crashed into Dantooine, unleashing chaos across the planet. Its malfunctioning systems have “infinitely expanded” three artificial biomes — reshaping Dantooine’s ecosystem permanently.

Level 80 players can visit the Crash Site Outpost, where GSI researchers desperately need help dealing with the fallout.

Three New Biomes

  • Sporefall
  • Glacial Trespass
  • Geothermal Disruption

Each biome includes:

  • Dynamic Encounters
  • Environmental hazards unique to that biome
  • A biome-leveling system where encounters make the zone “evolve”

As players complete encounters, each biome “levels up,” unlocking new combat challenges and faster progress.

Master Mode Boss: The Orbital Core

Once all three biomes reach max level, a new Master Mode boss becomes available.
This fight is tuned for groups of four players, but will become easier as players advance a new Reputation track, which unlocks helpful consumables and long-term rewards.

Crash Site Rewards

There are a lot of new rewards tied to the Dantooine content, including:

  • New armor sets
  • Decorations
  • Titles
  • Mounts
  • Minipets
  • Achievement rewards
  • Reputation vendor unlocks
  • Boss drops

New Dantooine Stronghold

One of the most anticipated additions:
Players can unlock a Dantooine Homestead Stronghold via the new Reputation track.

You will:

  • Unlock the Stronghold itself through reputation progress
  • Purchase additional room keys as you reach higher ranks
  • Reach maximum reputation to fully unlock every expansion option

PvP Season 9 – “Gladiators of the Outer Rim”

Launching with Update 7.8, the new PvP season runs for 16 weeks and brings a massive list of rewards:
