Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Datacron issue with Pillars of War rollback and compensation announced

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes Datacron Issue Explained — Rollbacks, Hotfixes, and a Massive Make-Good Incoming

If your Datacrons felt like they went through a few too many hyperspace jumps this week, you’re not imagining it. Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has run into a significant Datacron issue tied to the recent update aimed at fixing the overpowered Attacker-affix Datacrons — and the fallout has been messy enough that Capital Games is now hitting the reset button.

The good news? A rollback is coming.
The better news? So is a very generous pile of compensation.

Here’s what’s happening, what’s changing, and what you should (and shouldn’t) do right now.

What Went Wrong With the Datacrons?

Wednesday’s update was supposed to rein in overpowered Attacker-affix Datacrons, particularly within the Pillars of War set. While the bug that caused AoE attacks to deal far more damage than intended was addressed, the fix introduced new problems.

Most notably, affected players were not granted enough resources to restore their Datacrons to their previous power and investment levels. In short: players lost value, progress, and materials through no fault of their own.

That’s the part Capital Games is now undoing.

Datacron Inventory Rollback Is Coming

For players affected by the issue, your entire Pillars of War Datacron inventory will be reverted to its state before the problematic update.

Important details:

  • This rollback excludes Focused Datacrons
  • It will only affect Pillars of War Datacrons
  • No other inventory items will be impacted

The rollback will be deployed via an upcoming hotfix, which the team intends to release by end of day tomorrow.

Attacker Affix Is Still Getting Nerfed (Properly This Time)

Even after the rollback, the Attacker Affix is still being adjusted:

  • It will deal less damage per buff
  • The AoE bonus damage bug is fully fixed

So yes, power levels are being normalized — just without deleting your investment in the process.

Everyone Gets New Datacrons (Yes, Everyone)

Here’s where things get unusually generous.

With the hotfix:

  • You’ll receive new level 0 Pillars of War Datacrons
  • You get one for each Attacker Datacron in your inventory
  • Plus one extra, even if you had none (or no Datacrons at all)

These are in addition to the Datacrons you get back from the rollback — not replacements.

Free Materials to Level Them All the Way to 9

To make sure no one gets stuck halfway:

  • Players will receive all materials needed to level these new Datacrons to level 9
  • Data-cache upgrade costs for Pillars of War Datacrons will be reduced by 90%

Example:

  • Level 2 → 3 will cost 30,000 Data-cache instead of 300,000

This effectively removes Data-cache as a bottleneck during the recovery period.

Reroll Materials Flood the Galaxy

All players will receive:

  • 20,000 Alteration Mk 1
  • 20,000 Alteration Mk 2
  • 20,000 Alteration Mk 3

On top of that:

  • Rerolling Pillars of War Datacrons will cost just 1 Data-cache
  • Reroll material dust value for this set will be set to 0

Translation: reroll freely, experiment wildly, and don’t worry about burning resources.

Important Warning: Don’t Invest Right Now

If you’re among the players affected by the rollback, do not invest in Datacrons until the rollback is complete.

Any changes made before the rollback hits will be lost.

Capital Games says they will identify impacted players and return lost items, but the safest move is to simply wait until everything is finalized.

Yes, patience is required. No, it’s not fun. But it’s better than rebuilding twice.

A Rare “We Messed Up” Moment (Handled Fairly)

To their credit, Capital Games has been transparent, direct, and unusually generous in their response. Datacron issues are never small in SWGOH, and this one affected both balance and player trust.

The rollback, free Datacrons, massive material grants, and cost reductions make this one of the largest make-good efforts the game has seen in a while.

If nothing else, this update ensures that when the dust settles, players won’t be worse off for having engaged with Pillars of War — and might even come out ahead.

Just… wait for the hotfix before touching anything.

Your future self will thank you.
