PlayStation’s next State of Play airs today, and yes, Star Wars fans are allowed to look at the calendar, raise one eyebrow, and start quietly wondering.
Could something Star Wars appear?
Maybe.
Should anyone bet the cantina tab on it?
Absolutely not.
Sony has confirmed that State of Play returns on June 2 with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from studios around the world. The showcase begins at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, and 11pm CEST, with a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine kicking things off.
That makes this a major gaming showcase. It does not, however, make it a guaranteed Star Wars showcase.
The Jedi 3 Question Is the Obvious One
The reason Star Wars fans will be watching is simple: Star Wars Jedi 3.
Respawn’s next Jedi game has not been formally revealed, but it is already one of the most expected Star Wars gaming projects in development. We recently covered the rumour that Star Wars Jedi 3 may feature an older Cal Kestis, with talk of a larger time jump after Jedi: Survivor.
That kind of rumour makes any big PlayStation event feel interesting.
The Jedi games have a strong PlayStation audience, and a first teaser or logo reveal would absolutely fit the “one more thing” fantasy that keeps gaming showcase season dangerous.
But there is a big difference between “possible” and “likely.”
Do Not Expect a Star Wars Blowout
The safer expectation is that State of Play will focus on known PlayStation priorities, especially Marvel’s Wolverine, third-party titles, and broader PS5 updates.
If Star Wars appears, it may be small. A teaser. A release-window hint. A surprise trailer for something not on the radar. Or, very possibly, nothing at all.
That is the honest version.
Star Wars fans have been trained by years of rumours, leaks, and cancelled dreams to watch every showcase like 1313 might suddenly crawl out of the underworld holding a release date. That is emotionally relatable, but not always healthy.
Still Worth Watching
Even without a Star Wars guarantee, today’s State of Play is worth keeping an eye on.
Gaming showcase season is where publishers set the tone for the next year, and Star Wars gaming is still part of that wider conversation. From Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor to Battlefront II, Squadrons, Galaxy of Heroes, and beyond, the franchise has become a major part of the complete history of Star Wars games.
So yes, watch State of Play.
Hope for Star Wars.
Just do not ignite the lightsaber until something actually appears on screen.
