The Guild Sphere: Kings Destroyers

Another week, another guild feature. This time “Kings Destroyers” took the time to answer a few question about there guild. Check it out below:

Where did your guilds name come from?
The name was conceived by a good friend of mine and myself in 2008 for the game Age of Conan. The idea behind Kings Destroyers is that we are the destroyers of Kings; Kings being a metaphor for tyranny and oppression.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?
We are a laid-back guild whose focus is in creating a community of mature players. No member is limited based on class, skill, or gear choices; we strive to help each other grow. When running PvE instances or PvP groups, we focus on the task at hand while still retaining a comfortable and relaxed environment.

How did your guild come about?
To be honest, it was because of the tiring drama of small guilds that never had a chance to grow into an end-game community. Certain rules and regulations limited the guilds I was in, so I wanted to start anew.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
We are mainly a PvE guild; however, we do partake in light RP and PvP. There are PvPers in the guild, including myself, who plan on running PvP groups and events.

What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
It is run by a guild leader(me) and a tightly knit council derived of close friends who elect officers to handle certain areas of the guild; be it member quarrels, events, guild issues, etc. All major guild issues are voted by the council and decisions affecting all members are voted by the community as a whole.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
We are very serious as long as there is enough content in the game. We are still very social, but remain focused when it comes to end-game content. Members are held to a higher standard with practical rules that keep it fair within the guild as well as with other players.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
We like to keep it simple. The guild leader oversees everything and is also a member of the council.
The council oversees officers who watch over the members. Guild Leader > Council > Officers > Members

Why did you choose the Republic?
It’s easy to kill and draw power from fear, real strength comes from protecting those around you and keeping the peace. There are always too many “dark side” guilds; true players are the ones who play the underdog.

Why do you run a guild?
I’ve been in quite a few guilds, and I’ve always felt like I was more of a leader than a follower. I enjoy spending my time making a relaxing environment for the people I play with inside the gaming community.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
We elect Raid Leaders who plan raid events. We normally have a set day that works with the majority of people; however, depending on how many members are interested we can set up multiple days a week.

Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
Even when we stop actively recruiting, we are always open to members who wish to join.

Age Requirement?
We keep the door open for all ages, the deciding factor is the maturity level of the player.

Guild size?
In the past we have had up to 600-700 members in the guild at one time. It varies but we intend to have a minimum member count of 200-300 in this game. We are not a Zerg guild and remain a tight community.

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
We are a mature bunch of players who goes the extra mile to make sure everyone is enjoying the game.
We have tons of resources that keep people occupied on the website as well as in game.

How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
We spend a lot of time in the forums researching the new game, listening to podcasts, and working on our guild (logos, banners, advertising). Public relations is very important to us and we try to keep the website up to date.

What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
We are currently in RIFT, but the lack of content is causing our members to play other games (WoW, AoC, EQ1&2). We need SWTOR to get here he he.

If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?

One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
Guild ships or guild housing.
