Star Wars and Fortnite: A Dream Come True?

Crossovers have become more and more common in entertainment, whether that’s true for Marvel Comics crossover events or movies as old as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, released in 1943. Software producers have started to see the potential of crossover games as well with Fortnite vs. Star Wars arguably being the very best.

The first collaboration between Fortnite and Star Wars in Chapter 2 Season 1 in 2019 quickly turned out to be one of the most successful collaborations in the game. Gaming enthusiasts were delighted to find out in November 2019 that a new crossover between the two was announced. Here’s everything you need to know about this crossover event.

Fortnite Meets Star Wars

Fortnite X Star Wars was a popular event that was part of Epic Games’ Battle Royale video game, Fortnite, to promote the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie. The crossover began on December 14, 2019, and ended on January 7, 2020, getting the most out of Fortnite’s highly sought-after Winterfest event. The crossover event was officially announced on the 8th of December 2019. This happened both in-game and via Fortnite’s Twitter account. Different cosmetics for Rise of Skywalker characters Finn, Rey and a Sith trooper were made available a few days later, on December 12. Later that day, Star Wars director and writer Donald Mustard announced at The Game Awards 2019 that a TIE Whisper Glider would be given to all users for free during the event.

Most Popular Collaborations to Date

The partnership between Fortnite and Star Wars in Chapter 2 Season 1 quickly turned out to be one of the most popular collaborations to date in the video game. At the time of the first event, different characters from the New Star Wars Trilogy were added as item store skins, and fans of the game massively purchased the skins. On December 21, 2019, new outfits were added, bringing Kylo Ren and Zorii Bliss into the Battle Royale game. Later, even The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda were added to the Battle Pass. Also, Boba Fett appeared in Fortnite with the launch of the Disney+ series “The Book of Boba Fett.”

Both Game Enthusiasts and eSports Bettors Excited

Not only are fans of the video game extra excited about the new crossover, eSports bettors, especially those interested in Fortnite betting, have taken their enthusiasm to social media. The latest Star Wars vs. Fortnite crossover is therefore expected to still boost betting activities on the Epic Games’ video game in Q1 and Q2 of 2023. This time around, both lightsabers and rifles will be flying around in yet another epic battle.

Daily In-Game Gifts

The Star Wars and Fortnite crossover is still widely considered one of the most significant promotional events in the field of modern video gaming. For the duration of the special crossover event, players were able to obtain these weapons in the Battle Royale mode from special chests. Throughout Fortnite’s Winterfest event, players were awarded a daily one in-game gift. Two of these special gifts were Star Wars themed: a Millennium Falcon Glider, and a Backbling representing the Sith logo.
