The Dynamic Duality of Twins: Mae & Osha from "The Acolyte" vs. Arcann & Thexan from "The Old Republic"

In the expansive universe of Star Wars, the theme of duality often takes center stage, exploring the balance between light and dark, good and evil. This is no more evident than in the captivating stories of two sets of twins: Mae and Osha from the upcoming series “The Acolyte,” and Arcann and Thexan from the game “Star Wars: The Old Republic.” Each pair brings a unique narrative filled with conflict, growth, and the constant struggle for identity and purpose. But how do these twin duos compare, and what makes their stories so compelling? The Acolyte: Mae and Osha The Setting and Premise “The Acolyte” is set during the High Republic era, a time of relative peace and prosperity in the galaxy, yet shadows lurk on the horizon. This series delves into the darker aspects of the Force, focusing on the rise of the Sith and the intricate balance between light…

Exploring the Force in Star Wars: Beyond Light and Dark

Exploring the Force in Star Wars: Beyond Light and Dark

When you think of the Force in Star Wars, what comes to mind? Light and dark, Jedi and Sith, good versus evil? These are the classic dichotomies introduced in the original films, but the Star Wars universe is vast and ever-evolving. The latest episode of The Acolyte, titled “Destiny,” presents a fresh perspective through the witches of Brendok, challenging everything we’ve come to accept about the Force. This essay dives deep into these new interpretations, how they mirror and diverge from traditional views, and what they mean for the future of Star Wars storytelling. The Force: A Multifaceted Concept The Traditional View of the Force In the beginning, the Force was framed simply: the Light Side and the Dark Side, embodied by the Jedi and Sith. This binary perspective shaped the original trilogy and has been a cornerstone of Star Wars lore. The Jedi, guardians of peace and justice, harnessed…

The Paradox of Love in the Force: A Dichotomy Between Sith and Jedi

Exploring Love Across the Force: Unraveling the Complexities of Sith and Jedi Relationships

Is Sith Love Real? One might chortle at the notion – Sith love, a contradiction in terms, surely? Well, hold your tauntauns! The Sith, contrary to popular belief, are not devoid of feelings. The Sith Code emphasizes passion, and what is love if not the most intense form of passion? However, this passion is fueled by selfishness and possession, which leads to the Dark Side. It is a potent source of power, but it’s a double-edged sword, potentially leading to their downfall. The Sith’s love is intense, fiery, and all-consuming, but it lacks the selflessness that typically characterizes love as we understand it. They love, but it’s a possessive, consuming kind of love – a far cry from the selfless affection often associated with the term. Why Do Sith Avoid Love? An intriguing question indeed, and one that delves deeper into the Sith psyche. The Sith fear love because it…

The Cost of Being a Jedi: An Analysis of the Financial Burden of Training in the Jedi Order

An Analysis of the Financial Burden of Training in the Jedi Order

The Jedi Order, as depicted in the Star Wars universe, is a revered organization of mystical warriors who uphold justice and peace in the galaxy. But have you ever wondered about the financial cost of becoming a Jedi? The iconic lightsabers and starships that are so closely associated with the Jedi Order surely come with a hefty price tag. In this article, we will take a closer look at the financial burden of training in the Jedi Order. Let’s start with the most iconic item in a Jedi’s arsenal: the lightsaber. According to Star Wars lore, lightsabers are built by the Jedi themselves, using kyber crystals as the focusing lens. While the kyber crystals are said to be rare and difficult to obtain, it is unclear whether they are actually expensive in the Star Wars universe. However, the materials needed to build a lightsaber – such as the hilt, power…

How many Jedi survived order 66?

How many Jedi survived order 66

Order 66, also known as the Great Jedi Purge, was a key moment in the Star Wars franchise that occurred at the end of the Clone Wars. It was a directive issued by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, to the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic, ordering them to execute their Jedi Generals. This moment marked the end of the Republic and the beginning of the Galactic Empire, as the Jedi were essentially wiped out by the clones they had trusted as allies. But how many Jedi were able to survive this tragic event? According to an article from Collider, there were roughly 200,000 known Jedi at the time of the Clone Wars. This number includes both full-fledged Jedi Knights and Initiates in training. However, it is important to note that this number is likely an underestimation, as the Jedi Order was secretive…

The Medieval Histories That Inspired the Jedi

When George Lucas described a Jedi Knight as ‘a Buddhist monk who happened to be very good at fighting’, he was referring to the deep esoteric philosophy of Light and Dark, suffering and selflessness that characterised the Jedi Order. These themes would have been intimately familiar to the orders of Knights in Medieval Western Europe – here, we’ll chart the intertwined histories of Jedi and medieval chivalric knighthood, and see how understanding the past can help shed light on the Star Wars universe. Lightsabers and Swords The most obvious comparison with the medieval era is that, put simply, the Jedi have medieval swords. The Jedi lightsaber is a rare and mythic weapon that surpasses all others in sharpness, and the possession of which marks the wielder out as a hero. The concept of the sword-wielding hero fighting against the forces of darkness is an extremely ancient one, but it finds…

The Rule of Two means that there can only be two true Sith Lords at any given time. This rule is actually very important to the survival of the sith. As the video explains, the lack of the rule could destroy the sith. It explains the beginning of Darth Revan, where the Rule of Two came from, and why it’s important. It explains how Revan was caught…

Versus Series: Luke Skywalker VS Revan

Versus Series Luke Skywalker VS Revan – who would win? Here’s a fun and interesting episode of the Versus Series that pitts Luke Skywalker against Revan. It’s an interesting question but there are some arguments made about the way it was carried out in the versus video. For example, it’s  comparing Luke at 63 with Revan at 43. A comparison of both at the same age may have been better. One thing that is certain from the reaction to the video- most fans are pretty hardcore about which side they want to win and their supporting reasons why. Some fans argue that the video was not fair to Revan and that under different circumstances, he would beat Luke without a doubt. But the same counter-argument can be given for Luke, who later becomes very best of all Jedi in the entire universe of Star Wars. Check out the video and tell us…

Darth Malgus Versus Count Dooku DEATHMATCH

by FrelsAreN, DeviantART   by lelmer77, DeviantART  Jensaarai1 aka the Nerd-Rage Ranter, a video blogger on YouTube, is probably one of the greatest experts on Star Wars I have seen in some time. He appears to be well versed in all the movies, both of the Clone Wars series and the comic book series (Dark Horse). I have not heard him mention the novels in his analyses, but I wouldn’t put it passed him. Rest assured he is an expert on the Expanded Universe of Star Wars, which pretty much trumps those who only know about the movies when it comes to general Star Wars knowledge. What really impresses me is his unique knowledge on everything that is the lightsaber, which is impeccable. He made a 10 episode series throughout 2012, called the “Versus Series” where he pits Jedi against Jedi, Sith against Sith and Jedi against Sith in “what…

Jedi Consular Shadow PVP Build For 1.2

Today we have another PVP build and this time it is for the Shadow class and this one comes courtesy of SWTOR Savior. This build should help you out if you need a good PVP build for 1.2. The build will allow you to be awesome 1 vs 1 duellist and makes for some awesome survivability and you will also have very high damage output. To use the Consular Shadow you want to try and single out high priority targets or the squishy DPS players and healers. Although PVP is all down to the situation and the people you are facing at the time these rotations will help you if you need a guide: You will start a fight by stealthing or pulling your target with Force Pull and then use Spinning Kick. You can then follow up with Double Strike or Shadow Strike and Force Breach. Just keep an…

Guardian Angel: 1.2 Updates

Now that patch 1.2 is out, we can start adjusting our Guardian Tank game play accordingly. This patch did not have a ton as far as Defense Guardians go, but it changed enough for us to re-examine a few elements in the Guardian’s build. Defense Guardian Changes: Guardian slash was the ability affected the most by this recent patch. Command took a nerf, which now makes it a worthless talent in PvE, and the tree as a whole got slimmed down. It now takes less skill points put into the Defense tree to get all of the relevant tank skills. Master Strike also received a buff in both damage and channel-ability. The attack can no longer be interrupted. This makes it more relevant in the Tank Guardian’s priority line, since more damage means more threat. Master Focus also adds to Master Strike damage and Single Saber Mastery now works in…

Guardian Angel: Statting and Itemization

So far, with the Jedi Guardian we’ve only covered the very basics, including leveling, builds, rotations, and tactics. Now it’s time for itemization. Note that for the current build, 1.1.x, end game itemization is greatly limited by the amount of gear available from the tier system. There is only one tank set for Tionese, Columi, and Rakata gear, as well as Centurian, Champion, and Battlemaster gear. Though you may not be able to itemize as you choose now, familiarity with the system and how you can manipulate it will help you for later builds, such as the upcoming 1.2 patch. The only stat I will not cover in this article is armor, which is a stat that you have virtually no control over. We will start with the most basic stats. Strength and Endurance: As far as primary stats go, even in 1.2, your ability to manipulate these will be…

Faction lore: Jedi Order

The Jedi Order was an ancient and noble monastic peacekeeping organization unified by its belief and observance of the Force. The Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic, and became the most famous of the various groups that relied on the Force for their power. Led by a series of Jedi Councils, the Order grew over the millennia despite facing many trials, most often threats from the Sith, wielders of the dark side of the Force. Origins and brief history of the Order Since the beginning and most likely before the Galactic Republic, scientists had been studying the Force and its connection to midi-chlorians. This research was conducted most notably by the Paladins of the Chatos Academy, The Followers of Palawa and the Order of Dai Bendu, on planets like Ondos and Had Abbadon. The Jedi Order itself, however, began on Tython, where the brightest…

SWTOR Beta Sneak peek

A long sneak peek from the beta has just been published. A lot of the video is normal questing with some strange breaks where the player stands still for awhile and you see in the chat box that the Ambiance is turning On and Off multiple times. Animations and graphics look great. Running (which if I remember was previously reported to be clunky?) looks good and the combat is smooth. Some polish needed for some of the quest conversations. Animations and set pieces don’t line up sometimes and it defiantly breaks the immersion. I assume this will be addressed and corrected so don’t hold it against BW.

TOROCast: Jedi Immersion Event

TOROCast as promised has published a wealth of information from the Star Wars: The old republic Jedi Immersion Event. The guys got an Interview with Daniel Erickson that you can check out below, and a great job collecting player stats and NPC info: Nothing is more important to any MMO players efficiency than their stats and understanding how they affect your character. Min/maxxers especially care about stats since it is through stat optimization that we can set ourselves apart. Below you will find a complete breakdown of everything we learned from our playtime. Each level, main and primary go up by 4, secondary goes up by 1. It is possible that their is a rotation we can see this by looking at the increase in primary stats. So they go up by 4, then they go up by 4, then they go up by 3, and rotate like that. Unfortunately…

More reviews from the big gaming sites

Reviews are still pupping up all over the interwebs. With in the last few hours, Massively, VideoGamer, Eurogamer, and some of the more “hardcore” Star Wars the old republic fansites such as DarthHater and TOROCast has posted their reviews of the Jedi Immersion Event. Here is an update and a snip from each site. Firstly we got Massively that spoils us with a long review plus a few ingame movies: And for the people worried that SWTOR is going to be a Star Wars-themed World of Warcraft, you can rest easy too. The dialogue system guarantees that returning to your quest-giver isn’t just a mad dash of clicks. Your quest choices actually matter. The NPCs talk to you, and you’re going to want to talk back. I never once had the urge to skip the quest text (in fact, I was terrified I’d miss something if I looked away!), and…

How Stuff Works: Holocrons

A holocron was a crystal lattice (often cubical and sized to be held in one hand) in which the Jedi, as well as the Sith, of old stored phenomenal quantities of data, as well as the holocron’s gatekeeper. The Sith also had their own form of holocron technology, and they seem to predate the Jedi in using the technology by three thousand years. Description Sith holocrons usually took the form of a pyramid, and the existence of the first Sith holocron predates that of a Jedi holocron by at least three thousand years. The technology to create the pyramidal holocrons common to the Sith was something gifted to the ancient Sith king Adas by Rakata warriors trying to gain his trust. He accepted their technology and made a holocron, but he saw through their ploy and rebelled against them. It can only be assumed that the Jedi also learned the…
