This week I had the chance to speak with a fellow Scandinavian as the Guild leader of Immortals took some time to answer our questions. Check it out:
Where did your guilds name come from?
Well I’ve always been a fan of science fiction and ancient mythology, and the name “Immortals” is something I can connect with both parts, also to be honest, I have had the name Immortals stuck in my head since I was a little kid .. I think the name is fascinating.
Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild?
Immortals are a laid back, social and casual guild, suited for people with families, students or other reasons
they may have for not be abel to spend so much time behind the computer, but want to experience the game to the fullest.
How did your guild come about?
Well, here it goes.
The reason behind this guild is from bad guild experience, from previous games like Star Wars Galaxies, World Of Warcraft and Aion Online, at some point i have been kicked out of guilds in each game i’ve played, because i wasn’t active enough, and apparently because i didn’t join their raids often, seems like having a real life didn’t matter at all, and i should help the guild before anything else, they meant it would be better for me to find another guild.. and the cycle continued.
Then early 2009 i opened my eyes for SWTOR, and searched weeks after weeks for a guild that suited my needs, and i couldn’t really find any guilds at all, i started thinking about back then.. when i got kicked all these times. Started thinking, no way, that’s not gonna happen this time, and i bet there is a good amount of people who have been through the same thing, so i decided to form a guild on my own, with my terms.
What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
We will be focusing on PvE and PvP, and even crafting. Our Crafting Officer (yes we have an Crafting Officer) have contributed alot to make a guild crafting system. To be honest, i really could’t think of any better system at all. (I bet he smiles when he reads this)
What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
A:Currently we are using Guild Leader (me), Co-Leader, Admin, Officers, Class Leaders, members and trial members. You might wonder why we as a laid back casual guild are using trial period on members? well as any other guilds out there, we really want to have members who fit in, and to be frankly, nobody likes drama queens.
We are also a democracy, every member of Immortals are considered equal, including guild leader, officer and assistants. Everyone gets a say, and will be taken in consideration by the guild leader and officers and they will make the final decition. Im also allowing PvE/Raid Officers to be in charge for the upcoming raids, they will decide how they run things. I will act as a normal member and nothing more.
How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
We are very serious running this guild, we are making plans and preparing for every aspect of what the game can offer us. however, we are not going to have mandatory meeting and sign-ups etc. Members are allowed to play the game as they want to play it, and when they want.
Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
Well, this is something that still are in progress.
Why did you choose the sith empire?
I’ve always been a fan of villians/bad guys, as they do as they please, and really don’t care.
So in this case, there were no doubt at all.
Why do you run a guild?
Tired of searching for guilds, and here is a little secret for you, this is my first time ever, running a guild, being a Guild Leader. I have never done this earlier, so i have “0” experience running a guild. In 2010 i was a little worried, and asked the members how did i do, and i was willing to pass the leadership to someone else with more experience, surpriced as i was, they liked what i have done, and do, they wanted me to continue to be Guild Leader. I guess the secret behind a successful guild is to listen, hear out what the members have to say. I would never been where i am today with this guild if it wasn’t for the members who supported me and the guild itself.
How do you approach Raid Planning?
Our PvE/Raid Officers will be setting this up.
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
A:We will always have an eye open, we are getting quite large atm, but i guess after trial period there will be less. If someone brings an exceptional application, how could we refuse.
Age Requirement?
We have an age requirement of 18+, but this is not carved in stone, as mention above, if somone younger than 18 year old, brings an exceptional application, he/she will most likely be accepted.
Guild size?
If we are talking about members at our Head Quarter on the official site, we have 146 members.
What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
A:I feel this is like a trick question, anyway im gonna be realistic here, i don’t even know most of the guilds out there, and i guess each and one of them thinks their guild are unique, but in my point of view our guild is unique because we are social, casual guild, no mandatory meetings, sign-ups, no online requirements, so what do we demand of our members? nothing, all we want for our members is that they can experience this game to the fullest, when they have time for it.
How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
I am a parent of two, a 2 year old boy and 1 year old girl, so i spend most of my time with them, as a parent should do, and after they are in bed, i admit, i spend alot of time on the forums when i have a chance, i know 2 members in real life, and we are friends, other than that, i only know the others from what they have shared on the forums.
What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
Idon’t really play other games, when im really bored i normally play Counter Strike Source, but we have members who play games like Rift and World Of Warcraft, other than that, it seems like we all are wating for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
A:If there is someone interested they can check out:
Guild Site: http://www.swtor-immortals.com
HQ Site: http://www.swtor.com/guilds/4652/immortals
One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
Well, it seems like they have a lot of stuff going on at “The Wall Of Crazy” but it would be a nice feature to have a Guild Head Quarter on land, where members can gather and hang out, and use it like a neutral ground where Adversaries/random players can’t attack people.
I would also like to apologise for bad english, as english is not my native language.
