Knights of the Old Republic could have had a part 3 and how excited would fans everywhere have been? We’ve been talking about a KOTOR 3 for some time now and it has been revealed that it was in pre-production. Creative director Chris Avellone says the 3rd installment of the popular series was in development at Obsidian and that it would have featured Revan a lot more than the second game did.
Yes, a Knights of the Old Republic 3 game existed in pre-production at Obsidian Entertainment.
To this day one decision still plagues Chris Avellone’s mind: should Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords have had more Revan in it? BioWare and LucasArts hadn’t forbidden it – instead, Obsidian had decided to focus on new characters to allow more creative breathing room.
“But I don’t know if that was the best decision,” Avellone ponders, speaking in a Eurogamer KOTOR2 podcast other members of Obsidian and The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod join us for. You can listen to it in full right now, jokes ‘n all.

They talk about Revan and his role in the series, and also explain why the 3rd part would have featured more of Revan than parts 1 and 2.
Unfortunately, it seems like LucasArts didn’t want the game.
“It felt like we were pitching and pitching [to LucasArts] and it just wasn’t going anywhere, and at some point people just drew a line and said ‘it’s just not going to happen,’ which made us kind of sad, but, OK, if that’s the business, that’s the business,” he explained.
Hello LucasArts? How about listening to what your fans wanted? I for one, know that a lot of people wanted to see a KOTOR 3 and would even still play it if they came out with it now.
In February 2013 Obsidian revealed that it was pitching a new Star Wars game to Disney and a lot of us had high hopes for news of a KOTOR 3 but sadly, that was not the case.
However, it’s not too late. We could still get that game afterall. Would you be on board for a KOTOR 3 and more of the Revan story?
