Good news Sims fans, you’re about to get a little Star Wars in your Sims! This is great news for crossover fans of both franchises. A new Star Wars DLC was just announced.
“The Sims 4” will soon receive a new story-driven game pack, titled “Star Wars: Journey to Batuu,” as announced during Thursday afternoon’s Gamescom Opening Light Live. Releasing for $19.99 on Sept. 8, the pack requires “The Sims 4″ base game to play (available on PC, Xbox One and PS4).
So, what will this DLC be about?
Batuu will be a destination world, meaning sims can’t live there full-time since it’s meant for visits. But players can find a type of home base in Batuu that fulfills a sims’ basic needs.
Players will find familiar characters from the Star Wars universe, including Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker, and can play Sabacc (a fictional card game from Star Wars) against Hondo in Oga’s Cantina. You can even find the Millennium Falcon.
It sounds fun, and has an overarching story, which is rare in The Sims series. In this expansion, player agency typically found in Sims games will continue, as players will be able to choose different factions: The Resistance, the First Order, or the rebels fighting for control over Batuu.
Similar to “The Sims 4” “Get Famous” DLC, other sims will treat you differently depending on your status. This can change the dynamic of the game for you, depending on which way you choose to play it and which faction you side with.
Players get to decide how to navigate this world and fit into it with the characters that they create, sticking with the nature and appeal of Sims games.
It’s not quite a full-on Star Wars Sims game, but it does look like a fun, immersive DLC worth checking out if you’re already playing Sims 4.
