Star Wars Zero Company Gameplay Trailer Coming at Summer Game Fest

Star Wars gamers finally have a reason to watch Summer Game Fest with something stronger than blind hope.

EA Star Wars has confirmed that a new gameplay trailer for Star Wars Zero Company will debut during Summer Game Fest on June 5 at 2pm PT. That means the upcoming tactical Star Wars game is stepping back into the spotlight, and this time the magic word is gameplay.

Not a logo.

Not a cinematic mood piece.

Gameplay.

That matters.

The Clone Wars Tactics Game Gets Its Big Showcase Moment

Star Wars Zero Company is the upcoming single-player turn-based tactics game from Bit Reactor, developed in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games.

EA’s official Star Wars Zero Company page describes the game as a gritty story set during the twilight of the Clone Wars. Players take on the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer leading Zero Company, an unconventional squad of professionals for hire pulled from across the galaxy.

In normal human language: Star Wars is finally getting its big squad-tactics moment.

That is why the Summer Game Fest trailer matters. The first reveal gave fans the premise, the tone, and the promise. A gameplay trailer should show how the thing actually plays: squad movement, tactical decisions, abilities, enemy encounters, battlefield flow, and whether the game really scratches that XCOM-style itch in a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Gaming Needs This One to Hit

The timing is interesting.

Star Wars gaming has been living in a strange place lately. Jedi: Survivor proved single-player Star Wars still has power. Galaxy of Heroes keeps the mobile side busy. SWTOR is still alive and patching. But fans are hungry for something different.

A turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars is exactly that kind of different.

It is not another Jedi action adventure. It is not another shooter. It is not another live-service gamble. It is a squad game about planning, positioning, risk, and hopefully watching your carefully built team survive one very bad decision at a time.

That makes Zero Company one of the most interesting upcoming entries in the complete history of Star Wars games.

June 5 Just Got More Important

Summer Game Fest is always full of noise, but this gives Star Wars fans something concrete to look for.

The big question now is simple: will Zero Company look like a proper tactical Star Wars game, or just a cool idea with a lightsaber-shaped marketing hook?

We find out June 5.

Get the squad ready.
