DICE On Battlefront: No More Partner Spawn In Combat
Representatives for DICE have been quite responsive to the Star Wars: Battlefront community here in the past few and months and it’s been even more so now that the beta is live. For example, Dennis Brannvall, who is the Lead Multiplayer Designer, concurred with a gamer that partners should not have the ability to spawn during combat. This makes us think that this part of the game will be fixed before it’s released. However, someone else posted on the official subreddit of Star Wars: Battlefront about their surprising encounter with a loading screen with the map of Endor. This made rumors fly about the map being added to the rotation during the last few beta design days. This has happened with other games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but the Community Manager, Sledgehammer10, put the rumor to rest with tweets. One thing that he did clarify is that…
Darth Malgus is here to sell you some stuff.
Ever hear a voice so smooth, so sexy, so wonderful, you just want to do exactly what it says? Well, that’s Jamie Glover for you. The English actor is known for many roles, including his time on Waterloo Road but where you may know him best is as Darth Malgus. SWTOR isn’t the only video game he’s lent his voice to. Glover was also a voice actor in Soul Sacrifice, Dragon Age II, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, Star Wars: Empire at War, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Remus Lupin) (the video game) . So yeah… he’s no stranger to video games. You’ve probably heard him before and not even realized it was him. He also has a rich history of TV series, TV mini-series’, TV movies and…

Conquest issues fixed with SWTOR Fallen Empire anyways
Last week we told you, that Star Wars: The old Republic – Knights of the Fallen empire, would launch without conquests. This has apparently now been been fixed, and will work as normal oonce the expansion launches. Conquest Reward Issues and Fallen Empire | 10.14.2015, 06:22 PM Hey folks, I wanted to let you know that the dev team has found, and corrected the issue affecting Conquest rewards. This issue will be resolved next Tuesday, when we deploy Game Update 4.0. That means that you will be able to play Conquests normally and should receive both your Guild and Personal rewards as intended. The Conquest event that ends next Tuesday may still be in a broken state (as this is before we have deployed the fix). If that happens, we will work on issuing those rewards at a later date. Thanks everyone! -eric Conquest Reward Issues and Fallen Empire |…
NYCC 2015: Star Wars Rebels: Season 2 Trailer Revealed
One of the exciting reveals from the Star Wars Rebels panel at New York Comic Con this year was the Season 2 Trailer. If you were there, you would have seen Dave Filoni (executive producer), Taylor Gray (“Ezra Bridger”), Ashley Eckstein (“Ahsoka Tano”) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Seventh Sister”) there to promote the Disney XD animated series. If you watched the first season and you are eagerly awaiting the second, you won’t have to wait much longer, as it’s coming this week. There will also be more lightsaber action (something some fans of Season 1 had requested), a new villain voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, exciting story and more. Star Wars Rebels season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 9:30 pm on Disney XD. IGN also scored an awesome interview with Ashley Eckstein at NYCC. Find out why the actress is both excited for and dreading a possible confrontation between…
Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass
EA recently announced both the Ultimate Edition of Star Wars: Battlefront and also the DLC Season Pass. It sounds similar to what DICE has offered for past games. The season pass provides access to four expansion packs “coming at a later date.” EA didn’t give any other specifics of what’s in the packs or how often they will be released at this time. They did say they will be “filled with new content that will take you to new locations across a galaxy far, far away,” so it’s possible new maps are part of the packs. The Season Pass also comes with a “Shoot First” emote. We can speculate that we might also see new co-op stuff, new gear and possibly new game modes. That said, the Season Pass won’t come cheap. It’s already listed on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, and Origin at $50. If EA/DICE follow the same setup as the recent…

Star Wars Battlefront Feels Like a PS2 Game
This week the Star Wars Battlefront beta made it to the scene and players are experiencing and analyzing it, as well as offering their first impressions. If you’ve tried it already, we want to know what you think in the comments. So, Star Wars Battlefront is available on the PlayStation 4, the PC, and the XBox One. We also want to know what platform you’re playing it on. EA is expecting to sell 9-10 million copies of this game. Yes, that’s 9-10 MILLION! Crazy, huh? When it comes to first impressions, we think one write-up from Polygon staff is pretty interesting. They had the chance to play the beta on each of the three platforms and took time to write up some initial thoughts and opinions. It’s well worth the entire read because you’ll see why he says the things he says but the closing statement sums it all up…
Ten well known voice actors behind SWTOR characters
When Star Wars: The Old Republic first launched it became one of the biggest video game voice-over projects that BioWare or any gaming studio had ever done. It consisted of over 200,000 lines of dialogue that was voiced by more than 200 actors, and with each new expansion and mansion this number has grown. With a ton of different voice actors using their talents, it won’t be surprising to once in a while find yourself thinking, “Where have I heard that voice before?” So many have done that often and we have a list of some of the largest celebrities and actors who are behind the characters in the SWTOR community since 2012. Jennifer Hale: Female Trooper and Satele Shan Jennifer Hale is best-known in the video gaming world for being the voice behind FemShep in all of the amazing Mass Effect games, but she has also made her mark…
Komatu: Two Very Impressive Hours With The Star Wars Battlefront Beta
Patricia Hernandez it’s not actually a huge Star Wars fan, however after spending a few hours playing Star Wars: Battlefront on the PS4 a while back, she stated that she was starting to feel what all the fuss is about. This post is her experience with the time she spent with the game. The visuals are amazing but it’s not just because they are pretty to look at. In her opinion, the best thing that strikes her about them is how well they show off the work, threadbare quality that the majority of the objects found in the movie are seen as well. The blaster gun isn’t all fancy, it’s rough and rugged. Futuristic but still somehow old, which is simply amazing. With these graphics and the combination of DICE’s amazing audio design, Battlefront completely transports you into their world. Star Wars fans will absolutely love the details and the…
Crew Skills Used in Flashpoints (Storymode)
Those of you who have been here with us since the beginning will remember vanilla SWTOR and here is something that might remind you of that era of the game. It reminds me of some of the instances in KOTOR, for example, where you had different paths. There are crew skills in the storymode Flashpoints and they are worked in like “hidden” gems for you to find. Here’s a really cool chart that tells you (almost) all of them in one place. Take a look: If you plan to try to find all of these, want specific ones, or just want to see what’s around in a Flashpoint you’re doing already, this is a handy chart to keep around. Bookmark it or print it out – whatever works for you – but keep it around to refer to. Have fun!
Former SWTOR Lead Writer Daniel Erickson Working on Chapter 2 for SW: Uprising
Curious what former Lead Writer for SWTOR Daniel Erickson has been up to lately? Well, his recent Tweet will set the record straight (sort of): Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Deep in dev on Chapter 2. Which is literally more than 150% the size of the entire present game. — Daniel Erickson (@DanielAErickson) September 26, 2015 The former Bioware writer is now Director of Star Wars: Uprising and like those of us here, a BIG Star Wars nerd. I don’t know about you but I love seeing people who are truly passionate about games work on games. Being a writer myself, I also have a special kind of love for game writers. It’s why I was such a fangirl over meeting Erickson and Alexander Freed. These guys are not in it for the money or for fame (so many don’t even recognize their names). They are in it…

Datamining Yavin PvP Map
Are you curious to know what Yavin is going to be like? It’s a work-in-progress map but thanks to some datamining, we can get some info on what it’s going to be like. As always, keep in mind that datamined info is not necessarily what you will see as a finished product and it’s also the miner’s interpretation of the data. You can head over to TOR Community to see the data in its entirety but here are some things you will find in the summary: Is most likely 8v8. Probably won’t be released in 4.0, but a lot of work has been done on it so possibly 4.1 but don’t hold your breath. Has a VIP, the VIP gets special abilities on a temporary quickbar. Has a game mode chooser that allows someone to choose Bounty or VIP mode. Possibly a CTF mode to but this might just be…
HYPERSPACE BEACON: Six things to do before SWTOR’s Knights of the Fallen Empire launch
Once the long-awaited Knights of the Fallen Empire for Star Wars: The Old Republic launches, certain activities will not be available in the game anymore. To be specific, quests such as the Makeb staged weeklies and the Nightmare achievements for Eternity Vault will be gone. You also need to know that many of the basic story missions will not be available once you begin the KotFE missions, and the developers have stated that those missions will affect the story in KotFE, as well. There is only one more month left until the expansion is available to the public, so we need to prioritize which mission achievements you must have before you get the expansion. Here are six suggestions to get you started on the right path. Companion missions The first suggestion is to do as many companion missions that you possibly can. Many of them only require that you go…
Why Is There So Much Hate on Star Wars: Battlefront?
If you’ve been following the news and updates on Star Wars: Battlefront then you are surely no stranger to the fact that there is a lot of negativity surrounding this game. The community seems to be really torn on whether to love it or hate it. While there are some who straddle the fence in the gray zone, most everyone is in one camp or the other. What is it about this game that has so many people either super hyped or super let down? I have a lot of theories on this answer but of course, it’s all speculation. My guess is that with any big Star Wars game, the community is going to be anxious. We love Star Wars. We love games. We want great Star Wars games. And the truth is, we’ve been let down before. A lot. Some of us are bitter about that. Some of…
My Favorite Things About the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta
The Star Wars: Battlefront closed beta has become available a couple of days ago and it instantly vindicated all those who have put their trust into DICE to make this a game that would live up to the tremendous hype that preceded it. Indeed, as we followed the development of this game one bit of rumor/news at a time, it has become clear that no amount of effort would be spared to make this good and now all I can say is: it shows. The beta isn’t all milk and honey obviously, there are a number of smaller problems with it, but being positive a person, I’m not going to dwell on any of these minute and ultimately insignificant details, and I’m only going to focus on the bits that have left me thoroughly impressed. To start off: the graphics. In this day and age, raving about the visuals of…
3 Marvel/Star Wars Crossovers We’d Like To See
Now that Disney owns everything (or at least, Marvel and Star Wars), we’ve already seen a lot of changes for some of our favourite entertainment franchises. The most noteworthy of these changes is of course the forthcoming third Star Wars trilogy. However, we’re also seeing Star Wars spin-off films, new Marvel TV shows, and all kinds of spin-offs, side projects, and novelisations that weren’t around before. What we haven’t seen much of yet is crossovers between Marvel and Star Wars, arguably the two most significant branches of Disney’s modern entertainment empire. So here are a few ideas in that category that we think it would be fun to see, starting with gaming concepts. A Crossover Video Game The first idea that comes to mind in this regard would be a fighter series; first because these games are almost impossible not to enjoy and second because they’re probably the easiest ones…
Clarification on Endgame Crafting in SWTOR Fallen Empire
Assistant Community Coordinator Nick Avola, took on the forums to clarify on the endgame crafting blog Tuesday with regards to operation and conquest mats. Crafting Changes in Fallen Empire | 10.07.2015, 09:27 PM Hey, team! Long time no see A lot of great questions here. I’ll pass along some clarification from the Developers, regarding the endgame crafting portion of this blog: “There will be two new endgame purple mats: Conquest Mat called “Strategic Resource Matrix”. Operation Mat called “Dark Matter Catalyst”. The Conquest Mat can only be acquired by completing your personal conquest goal. The Operation Mat can only be acquired by killing bosses in Operations. The Conquest Mat is used to craft Endgame equivalent gear. This gear is initially trainable from your trainer. You can then reverse engineer it to Storymode-equivalent gear, and again to Hardmode-equivalent gear. This gear is un-moddable, Bind-on-Equip, and slightly better than the gear found…
NYCC Community Cantina and Cosplay Contest
The time has come for another SWTOR Community Cantina, the last on the calendar for 2015. This time the Cantina lines up with New York Comic Con and there was a decent turnout at the Hard Rock Cafe. When I arrived around 6:20, there was already a line forming outside the building. They got the cosplayers inside early and the rest of us promptly at 7pm. We were given tickets for free drinks and our other goodies and Hard Rock staff were walking around with some good food (great for those who had just come over from NY Comic Con and also for those of us standing around in line awaiting entry.) As always, the staff are super friendly and always around to chat and answer questions. They’re a lot of fun to hang with and in addition to the cosplay contest and the Q&A, they made sure to mingle…
DICE GM Admits They Almost Passed on ‘Star Wars Battlefront’
In the most recent issue of Official Xbox Magazine, the studio general manager of DICE, Patrick Bach stated that the Swedish video game developer nearly passed up on creating Star Wars: Battlefront, and its already looking to be one of the biggest games this year. “Disney came to EA looking for a partner to make games and suggested, ‘Maybe DICE should make a Battlefront game.’ On our side, we had this opportunity, but were fully booked with other work and thought, ‘Argh, we can’t do that!’ But then the heart kicks in, says ‘we will figure it out,’ and we figured it out. Because you can’t say no to a project like that. You piece it together based on competence, passion, availability – although that’s easier to fix. You need the right people in the right place to do the right ‘thing’. Even though you don’t know what that is…
