SWTOR Has Neutral Plans to Come Soon

SWTOR’s alignment system is one thing that sets it apart from other games, gives it that added edge and makes it more exciting and more personalized for the player. The only thing that got in the way of the alignment system in SWTOR is the fact that there was gear designed specifically for Light Side (LS) and Dark Side (DS) points but nothing for neutral. I’ve found on my first character that when I just played the storyline the way I wanted, answering by instinct, I ended up more neutral than one side or the other.

I guess that means I am a fairly balanced human in general, which is probably cool for my friends and others around me, but it’s no good in SWTOR when it means I cannot use any of the gear that I’m getting because I don’t have enough LS or DS points.

Ok so it seems like the game is forcing you to pick a side and for some players, that’s just not the natural way we play. The good news is, BioWare has announced they have a plan to change this in the future so they will be offering gear for neutral players as well.

James Ohlen talks to PC Gamer about their soon to come Neutral plans for the game.
“We knew with the light side/dark side system that there would be an urge, especially for min maxers, to go completely light side or dark side. It happened in Knights of the Old Republic back in 2003. We knew it was going to happen,” said TOR’s game director, James Ohlen.
“We have a system for people who want to stay more in the middle. But that’s something coming up in a later release,” he continued.
He goes on to say that they never intended to restrict players in the game with the alignment system and gear was not meant to limit players. I, for one, am happy to hear about the upcoming changes. I just hope we don’t have to wait too long for them. What do you think?
