Today I had the chance to interview Judgepayne and Tali from the republic guild “Republic Misfits”. The guild plays on the U.S. East Mind Trick – PvE server. Right now the guild are looking to expand their roster with more 50s for Operations and PvP. They are in need of: two level 50 tanks (Vanguards), four 50 RDPS, and two 50 healers. Check out the interview below:
Where did your guilds name come from?
Battlefield 3 I think, it was a brainchild of Asst. GM mf-jones.
What is a 2-3 sentence description of the guild?
I’d describe us as a laid back, but serious guild that’s just looking to have a good time. We have the devotion of helping others in the guild rank up/get better gear, along with focusing on our weekly raids and hardmodes.
How did your guild come about?.
We started as a group of real life friends who formed Forsaken Legion, a WoW guild on the Stormrage server. This core chartered and helped grow the Republic Misfits from a small group during early access, to a large and diverse group in a month’s time. We are also fortunate to have crossed paths with the Nerf Herders, another Mind Trick guild. In order to better facilitate operations for both groups, the Nerf Herders joined the Misfits and play an active and irreplaceable role in the guild today.
What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
After Ilum broke, the Sith’s equipment disparity has shifted our guild focus mostly to endgame progression.
What is your guild set up?
Rank is more or less unimportant. Recruits gain member status after registering on our website republicmisfits.guildportal.com We do most of our communication there, so it is a must.
How do you run your guild?
Like God said to Bender, Being God isn’t easy. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket. When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.
How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
Our progression attempts are serious, but you won’t hear us yelling at each other after wipes. The guild atmosphere is meant to be casual.
Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
Yes, but they are mostly for show.
Why did you choose Republic?
Why not Republic, I mean come-on, everyone wants to be a Jedi?
Why do you run a guild?
To ensure the maximum enjoyment of and access to the game for the members.
How do you approach Raid Planning?
Progression runs are attempted with our best geared members. After fights are well known, raid party makeup shifts to getting the max amount of new gear for lesser equipped members. We want all of our members as geared as possible, and therefore more able to see and complete all of the content.
Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
Jedi Sentinel recruiting is closed, but all other classes are desired and welcome! We close recruiting when a certain class becomes populated to the point where new members would hurt our current members chances of being able to participate and get gear at the same rate as other classes.
Age Requirement?
We are an adult guild (18-35), but we would certainly welcome some more mature youth.
Guild size?
We are up to 71 toons after absorbing the guild Sabers and Lasers, probably about 65 real life people
What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
I think what makes our guild stand out is our name, Republic Misfits. That makes it unique because we are just a bunch of individuals looking to have fun and enjoy the game to its fullest.
What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
I’ve heard of some casual Battlefield sessions in the works. I personally enjoy crushing our Asst. GM on the chessboard, albeit I don’t play shooters so his chances for revenge are limited somewhat.
If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
You can register at republicmisfits.guildportal.com. You can also message judgepayne, mf-jones, satesh, or tali in game or whisper any Misfit that you see around the fleet or in-world.
What do you think of the game so far?
Minus the bugs in this game, I’m loving it. It’s so much fun, very interactive community, and lots of stuff to do. Even though there isn’t that much end game content, there are eight classes to play from, each with their own story line. So that adds a lot of content to itself.
If there is one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
Brackets for all levels in PvP. It’s really not fun with level 10-49s for warzones, it just doesnt mix well. I’d like to see something along the lines like 10-20. 21-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-49 and of course the 50 bracket.
