Disney Infinity 3.0 developer discusses bringing iconic Star Wars characters to the franchise

Disney Infinity 3.0 is venturing into new territories by introducing popular characters from Star Wars to the franchise. You will find characters such as Ahsoka to the iconic Luke Skywalker, each player will have its own playable character and collectible figurine. The development team has worked extremely hard to bring in each character to the game and make them as detailed as possible.

The new game will be introducing play sets that expand through all of the Star Wars films and it will also introduce brand new character from the animated series and cinematic entries, The Clone Wars and Rebels. You will be able to choose which character to play as by using the real figures that go with the game. Every single character has went through a detailed process for its development.

After speaking with EW, Jeff Bunker who is the VP of Art Development from Avalanche Studios, the challenges and opportunities that were brought up during this process were discussed. The interview with Mr. Bunker can be read fully here. Read more below for a snippet of this great interview.

Entertainment Weekly: Can you tell me a little bit about the design that went into Leia, both the figure and her as a playable character (her gameplay type, going with specific costume choices, etc.)

Jeff Bunker: First off, I’ll just say it was amazing and surreal getting to work on Star Wars, in general, and Leia, specifically. Most of development team at Avalanche grew up on the original Star War Episodes IV-VI and would never have dreamed it possible that some day we would get to work with those characters.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will be released later during this year for the PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, iOS, and Android devices.
