If you’re playing SWG on Legends, or if you’re thinking about coming back to SWG now that it’s on EMU, then you may be interested in these new updates added earlier this summer. Here’s a video from Napyet about the upcoming changes to Star Wars Galaxies on the Legends server. I really love that he covers all the details and specifics of the updates, what makes them unique and interesting, and shows us in the video while telling us about it. Two very important updates just dropped for the Star Wars Galaxies server SWG Legends – the Avatar Platform Hardmode and PVP Flashpoints. I talk through why these updates are so exciting for Star Wars Galaxies in 2020! SWG has a lot of fond, nostalgic memories for people and those players are now coming back to play through these emulators. This is a great example of how the fans and…
Gambling in The Star Wars Universe
You may love Star Wars due to spaceships, combats in the space, or simple Sci-Fi elements. But one aspect of the franchise is gambling. You probably know about the scene where Han Solo gambles with Lando Calrissian and wins the most famous spaceship in the movie, Millennium Flacon. There are countless other real money gambling-related situations. It is impossible to explain all of them, but let’s take a look at some, the most popular online games. Gambling at Cantonica The ultimate gambling experience in Star Wars is located on planet Cantonica. This is the casino that covers the entire planet. It is actually known as Canto Casino, which is located in the city of Canto Bight. This part of the movie comes from Last Jedi. As you would believe, this casino is massive, and it offers numerous gambling options, games, restaurants, and so much more, all you can see in…

EA Shareholders Vote Against Pay Packages
A majority of EA’s shareholders have voted against EA’s proposed compensation package for its top executives. What does this mean exactly? Early in July, the CtW Investment Group, one of EA’s pro-labour shareholders, urged investors to vote against the Say on Pay proposal and if it had passed, this would have given EA total control over how it compensates the top execs outside of their salaries. But in the beginning of August, there was the annual shareholder meeting and 68% of shareholders voted to reject the executive pay proposal. Over 171 million votes were cast against it, compared to 59.6 million in favor according to regulatory SEC financial filing made the same week. “Shareholders issued a resounding rebuke of Electronic Arts’ deeply flawed executive pay practices that does not incentivize executives to create long-term value,” said CtW executive director Dieter Waizenegger. “This vote is a clarion call for the board to stop piling…
New Details On Amy Hennig’s Canceled Star Wars Game
Unfortunately, I’ve had to do a lot of posts about canceled Star Wars games. And that’s because they keep getting trashed; many of them before they even have a proper chance to get started and some of them canceled right when they are close to release. It’s a tragedy, really, and today we’re going to talk about about one such game. It went by the code name Ragtag, and if you’ve been around a while, you’ll remember that I’ve written about it before. In this clip from MinnMax’s full interview about leaving EA and creating Airborne Kingdom, The Wandering Band’s Zach Mumbach and Ben Wander talk about Amy Hennig’s Star Wars project codenamed Ragtag at Visceral Games and why the game was ultimately canceled. See here: Here’s an interesting snippet: “We were making an amazingly-well crafted” 12-hour experience, but EA started throwing their weight around, and I’m thinking, this is effing…

Tales of the Jedi Inspires SWTOR
How Star Wars: The Old Republic owes it all to Tales Of The Jedi, from double lightsabers to Sith Lords, Korriban, and the family tree of Bastilla and Satele Shan – James Hoare of Sci Fi Now tells us about Tales of the Jedi and how the Dark Horse Comics had an impact on SWTOR as we know it today. They have a great interview to help pay homage to the origin of SWTOR as we know it today. The idea behind Tales of the Jedi was really a new concept. It branched out from the views and storyline of the original Trilogy and did something new and bold. “18 years later, to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic – which like Bioware’s Knights Of The Old Republic before it owes Tales Of The Jedi a tremendous debt – we got in touch with Veitch to find…
What You NEED to Know about SWTOR in 2020
SWTOR is now available on Steam, as I told you about recently. Because of this, the game has been launched back into mainstream conversation. This has a lot of people wondering if they should try the game, or come back to it if it’s been years since they played. I know I’ve had a lot of Steam friends asking me about it when they see me playing. This is a great opportunity for new players to jump in, or old players to return, if you’ve been out of the scene for a while. (And if you’re still social distancing for help reasons, this can give you something else to do while you’re spending more time at home). Lore Star has done a fun video that answers the question, “Is SWTOR worth playing in 2020?” He also talks about the difference between free players and Preferred (paid) players. Check it out…
BETRAYAL – Star Wars: Order 66 Short Film
It’s fan film time again! I feel like I haven’t done this in a while. I’ve missed it. This short film from Loacher Films is really well done. The acting is great, the video quality and modeling is nice too, but what really gets me is the very unique story idea. It’s a short film- under 4 minutes – so I’m not going to spoil the impact by talking about it too much. I think you should just watch it yourself and then let me know what you think of it. See it for yourself here: After you watch, drop us a line and let us know what you think. Would you want to see more from this story? I’m definitely curious about what happens next!
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Nude Captain Phasma Mod
Ah, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 modding community, you never cease to amaze! If you thought you’d seen it all, think again. Introducing the Nude Captain Phasma mod—a bold, if not unexpected, addition to the game. This mod swaps out Rey’s character model for a rather unconventional version of Captain Phasma. And by unconventional, I mean Phasma’s donned her helmet, but left the rest of her armor in the Star Destroyer’s locker room. The Concept: Phasma, but Make It Fashion Let’s dive into the concept behind this mod. It’s not just any old character swap; the modder behind this creation had to go through quite a bit of work to get Phasma’s helmet to fit snugly on a nude body model. The result is a mod that keeps Phasma’s iconic helmet (because safety first, right?) but does away with everything else—except maybe a cape, if you’re feeling fancy. You have two…
Why is Star Wars: Squadrons $40?
Could it be because it doesn’t have the “breadth” of bigger EA games? And what does that even mean? Back in June, EA explained that their starfighter sim Star Wars: Squadrons would have zero microtransactions, which was surprising, since the game is supposed to have a lot of different cosmetics for pilots. Also surprising? The $40 price tag, which is significantly lower than other Star Wars games they’re putting out like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or even other non-Star Wars games like the new FIFA or Madden games, all of which sell for around $60. EA said it’s very specifically focused on the ‘fantasy’ of dogfighting in X-Wings and TIE Fighters, so it’s a bit cheaper than usual. Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen explained in the quarter financial call that Squadrons will be more focused than other EA games. “Games all have different scales, and most of…

Why Republic Commando Needs a Sequel
Have you ever fallen in love with a game that needs a true sequel? Oh, it can feel like heartache and heartbreak to want more of your beloved game, but there is no more to be had. So sad. 🙁 In this video The Act Man takes a look at one such game. See it here: I gotta say, I agree! This game is awesome. And for being released in 2005, it was way ahead of its time. Unfortunately, the sequel was cancelled before the game was even released. This video goes into the background on that and explains what happened and why the planned sequel was cancelled. The reasoning is kind of up there with the same reasons why some of our other Star Wars games have been cancelled. Maybe we can get a sequel one day, as all fans of this game can agree that it deserves one….

The Future of Star Wars Games Not from the Latest Movies
The Star Wars sequel trilogy was long awaited and massively-hyped, but did it live up to expectations? For some, yes. For others, no. In fact, Rise of the Skywalker triggered quite the controversy in the Star Wars community. Personally, I enjoyed the new movies for what they were, but we have to agree with facts that the Sequels were kind of a mess compared to the earlier films, and that Disney didn’t really seem to have a long term plan in place when they started making them. Add to that the complete chaos behind the scenes as directors were swapped out and plot-lines and characters were dropped or changed, and it’s easy to see how it became such a mess. Since then, they just don’t carry the same excitement the earlier films did. There isn’t as much of an emotional response as we expect from a Star Wars film (let…

A Step Forward For The MMORPG Genre?
Particularly in the west, the massively multiplayer online role playing game genre has been struggling for a number of years – the huge time investment required alongside an aging core audience who now have different priorities in their lives have left many of the games to slowly wither and with the biggest names still holding on to their core, numbers are certainly shrinking. Whilst the previously mentioned factors are a big reason for the impact in reducing player base, another reason has been a shift in gaming platforms as many of us have made the swap to gaming on our smartphones along with many others – a change to more casual games such as online casinos that can be clicked in and out of at a whim without much investment required, and despite recent adjustments in regulation a growing number of operators are registering in different countries to avoid initiatives…
