Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes – Road Ahead 1/31/2019

Here is the road map for Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Contrary to BioWare, Capital Games seems to have big plans for their Star Wars game this comming year. Check it out: After an exciting end of the year with the release of Grand Arena, C3PO, and Han’s Millennium Falcon, the Capital Games offices are bustling again with plans for the upcoming quarters. We’ve spent much of the past few months focusing on the roadmap, including a bold and somewhat audacious five-year vision, but as always, I’m here to talk a little bit about the next couple of months. When we sit down to plan the next year’s roadmap, one of the key things that we focus on is learnings from the previous one. Since so much of the core of the game is collecting and strategizing with the iconic characters and ships from the Star Wars universe, we are constantly…

No SWTOR Roadmap for 2019 so far

BioWare is not planing a Roadmap for SWTOR so far. I speculate that it might because BioWare Austine is waiting to see how the upcomming game Anthem does – to see whether they’ll have the staff numbers and resources/funding left to pull most of it off.  Here is the news: Hey folks, Right now I don’t believe there are any plans for a formal roadmap in the coming weeks. To calm any concerns, that isn’t because there isn’t stuff happening this year, but we have been making an effort to give you more visibility into content sooner via PTS. With that in mind, here are some details: 5.10.1 is on PTS now, which you already know. That will come out in the next couple of weeks, more details on timing this week. After 5.10.1 is out the door, look for details on 5.10.2 going to PTS. We are still locking…

Replaying the Classics: Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

Few things give me as much joy as going back and replaying an old game that I loved back in the day, or as a child. There’s something nostalgic about it, of course, but there’s also a fun element to gaming nostalgia, in particular. Seeing how a game you loved from the past matches up to the current gaming trends and technology, for example. Or seeing how storytelling and other elements have changed or progressed over the years. While many games have gotten fancier and with more bells and whistles, story from older games most often still wins out. A recent post on StarWars.com talks about one of my favorite Star Wars games, Galactic Battlegrounds and gives it a full revisit. It’s part of their Replaying the Classics column which revisits great Star Wars games of the past, explains why they love them, and also how they stand the test…

Romantic Story of Leia and Han Solo

After the release of the seventh part of the space saga, viewers were upset that the beautiful love story of Princess Leia and the smuggler Han Solo ended with their breakup. In the course of the film, it becomes known that the characters got married and gave birth to a child, but then they broke up. Many assumed that the reason for the breakup was the decision of their son to join the Dark Side. However, according to Fisher herself, everything turned out to be much simpler and more prosaic. Leia was not happy that her husband didn’t quit smuggling, spent too much time with his best friend, Chewbacca, and was also not a very good lover. But for now, let’s start with the beginning and remember how everything started. However, at first, visit one of the best Russian women dating sites and write your own love story.   So,…

Star Wars Fan Film: Whisper in the Dark

It’s fan film time again! I really do love fan films and they bring out the best of the Star Wars community. people geeking out over what they love and coming together to bring other fans some fun and enjoyment as well. Even the “bad” fan films are good because they embody the spirit of what we love about Star Wars. Some of them are cheesy, some of them may not have professional-quality sound, or acting, or lighting. But they all embody the spirit of Star Wars and they nearly always have a great story. I suppose that is part of why I like them so much. So, here’s a fun one to entertain you for a bit. It’s just at 15 minutes long so you can watch it on a break even. It’s from TheJW Phillips and hopefully we see more from them in the future. Set in a…

Should EA Lose their Star Wars License?

Here’s a question that’s been going around for a while now, since the future of Star Wars games is looking pretty bleak and EA seems to have canceled yet another one. Many fans are saying “enough is enough” and they want Disney to fix this issue they very clearly had a part in by allowing other companies to make Star Wars games. Is it fair to say that EA should lose their license, based on how they have performed? Well, someone very close to the Star Wars universe seems to think so. Gary Whitta, the co-writer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has said what a lot fans have been thinking. For Electronic Arts (EA) to have the “one of a kind” Star Wars licensing deal taken away, due to their mishandling of the franchise. Whitta details his thought process and frustrations during a video interview with Kinda Funny Games, referring to…

Star Wars: EA Reportedly Will Not Let BioWare Make KOTOR Games

How long have KOTOR fans been talking about a new game? Over the years, we’ve heard a lot of talk of BioWare making a new KOTOR game the fans would love to see it happen. But now, EA has the contract on all Star Wars games and it doesn’t seem like its in the cards. BioWare has supposedly asked EA multiple times for permission to make a new KOTOR game. “They’ve tried to make it happen, more than once from what I’ve heard,” says Kotaku’s Jason Schreier on Twitter in response to a question about BioWare making another KOTOR game. “No luck.” Ugh, shot down again! That seems to be par for the course when it comes to a new KOTOR, but is there more to this tweet? There’s a story on DenofGeek about it that breaks it all down for us. “On its own, there’s not much information there, but there is more…

Troubling Times for EA Star Wars Games

We’ve written quite a bit here about the rise and fall of so many Star Wars games. In recent years, this has always included talk of Electronic Arts. That’s because EA are the only ones who can make Star Wars games, at least for now. On May 6, 2013, Disney and Electronic Arts announced that the two companies had signed a ten-year deal to make Star Wars games. This would be a deal that many would later question, as it doesn’t seem to be working out for either party as well as they had hoped. It’s certainly not working out for the fans the way that we had hoped. Kotaku recently published a piece that talks about this exact problem – EA’s Troubled Decade of Star Wars Games. Here’s part of what they had to say: ““Back in 2013, Star Wars was in a rough place. The most recent movie had been 2005’s Revenge of…

EA Cancels Open-World Star Wars Game

And another one bites the dust! Sad news in the land of Star Wars games as another one has been officially cancelled. This is so frustrating, from someone who love Star Wars games and loves bringing you news and updates about new games. It seems every time we start to get excited about a potential game in the works, we get the inevitable news that it will be cancelled. It’s practically a pattern at this point! The latest victim of this trend is Electronic Arts’ open-world Star Wars games that was in process. The project was code-named Orca, according to info released by people close to EA’s Vancouver projects. It was very early in development but would involve playing as a scoundrel or bounty hunter who could explore various open-world planets and work with different factions across the Star Wars universe. Little more was known about it since it was not publicly…

Star Wars Episode IX – Release Date & More

December 2018 held a certain significance, I’m sure the same can be said for many people for many reasons, however, for fans of the Star Wars movie saga it became the first time in the past four years without a new Star Wars movie to enthuse about, see, and discuss. Initially scheduled for a May 24 release, the hotly anticipated Star Wars: Episode IX denotes the end of a trilogy; a new chapter which began with JJ Abrahams’ December 17, 2015 release of The Force Awakens, followed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Not part of the trilogy), with Episode 8 – The Last Jedi having relayed the second part of the adventure on December 14, 2017, and the trilogy will now come to a close with the bumped back, more traditional Christmas release window of Episode IX on December 20, 2019. The news gives Star Wars fans something…

Series of EA Project Cancellations Leaves Gamers Fuming as it Under Delivers on Disney’s Star Wars Gaming Franchise

In the latest breaking news involving EA, the company failed to dispel strong rumours from reputable sources, rumours which proclaimed the cancellation of the promised, long awaited and much anticipated, future release of the next single player title meant to continue the massively popular Star Wars saga. Initially developed under the codename Ragtag which aimed at creating a linear gameplay adventure. However, a mid-2017 reimagining refocused the teams to instead develop an open world environment re-focused on delivering a broader player experience. Ironically this mid-2017 reimagining seemingly is possibly also the reason for the project’s death, since developing “a broader experience” would apparently have required too long a build period, driving costs up. The most common fan response to that would be somewhere along the lines of “come-on EA, Bethesda managed to create just such a series of open world games with each episode of The Elder Scrolls series and…
