Star Wars Shakespeare: A New Hope Gets a New Format

If you love Star Wars but are reluctant to dive into the works of Shakespeare, Ian Doescher has just the book to ease you in to the verses of the Bard. Dolscher’s takes Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope back in time to the 1600s. Apparently, the project is George Lucas sanctioned, according to Get The Big Picture. The Star Wars creator has reportedly told Doescher he should take the project as far as possible. Perhaps this means we will see the other five episodes given the Hamlettreatment. Along with references to the Elithabethan author, the book also features period style images, including one with Luke holding a storm trooper’s helmet like a skull. “The allusions to Shakespeare’s works are references I carry around in my head, so most often the allusions to plays flowed naturally with a particular character’s dialogue. Other times, the references were more carefully planned,” Doescher told Quirk. “”For instance, I knew…

Amazon Now Selling Cartel Coins and “Umbral Blurrg” Pet

Don’t you wish you could just buy your SWTOR Cartel Coin cards online instead of having to head out to the store? Well, now you can. Maybe… As some others on the SWTOR forums have realized, Amazon is now offering the Cartel Coins with “Umbral Blurrg” pet. However, there are some stipulations. For example, Amazon does not ship them outside of the US. But some players have found a workaround. For example, if you are in Canada, you can use this service (http://www.cbiusa.com/) to have your items shipped to their address or to purchase digital items like this one. Players in Europe are using a workaround with a gift card and US address to purchase it. Here it is on Amazon: And here is the official product description: The Star Wars: The Old Republic 2400 Cartel Coins Card allows gamers to purchase 2400 Cartel Coins via the convenience of their favorite…

Celebrate KOTOR’s 10 Year Anniversary in SWTOR

It was hinted at more than once previously that we would have the chance to celebrate KOTOR’s 10th Anniversary in some way in SWTOR. Well today we have an official announcement of what this will include. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me and I’m actually glad to see Bioware using this opportunity to celebrate KOTOR in SWTOR. However, these planned events are one-day-only so it sucks if you’re going to be away on summer vacation or something. Take a look at the timelines for the celebration and see if you can check in. Maybe fire up your laptop on the hotel WiFi and grab your brand new title. Or hop on over to Facebook page and try to snag some free Cartel Coins in the giveaway. This news article was shared this evening: Celebrate KOTOR’s 10 Year Anniversary We are happy to announce that on July 15th we…

TOR TV: swtorHELL – a music Video

GGAvrii made this awesome 1o min fan film that reminds us of “a New Meme“. If you haven’t already watched that short movie yet, you are really missing out. It is one of the funniest SWTOR movie to date. This movie is great to though.  GGavrii Basically made a random music with video elements that shouldn’t work together, but they do! And they do so really well.  I especially like the ‘I want it now’ segment, and I swear the Dark Knight music gets me every time!

Scum and Villainy Operation Guide SWTOR

Don’t forget to check out constantly growing list of guides for Star Wars: The old republic The newest Operation to be released on the 2.0 PTS is Scum and Villainy and it has 7 bosses. The seven bosses in Scum and Villainy are: Dash’roode Titan 6 Thrasher Operations Chief Olok the Shadow Cartel Warlords Dread Master Styrak In storymode there is Vilus Garr, Captain Horicm Tu’chuk and Sunder. 2.3 Graphical Color Improvements to SWTOR

SWTOR is getting something of a makeover in terms of colors. Most will agree that it’s an improvement but for those who have grown accustomed to seeing it in its darker fashion might not approve. Personally, I like it. I really think some zones were just a bit too dreary and drab with all the grey/brown. I like the improved colors and crispness of it all. It also seems to have more of a real feel and texture rather than the cartoony feel in some zones. I like this. One user shared some before and after pics on Reddit to help us see what the color changes look like: What’ll strike you first is the sheer colour in the game. These screenshots were taken in the exact same locations, with the same gamma/brightness/graphics settings. Before: After:  Before:  After:  To be honest, while I think this is a good move, I…

Bioware has Delivered Nearly Everything from May 2012 Survey

Some of you might remember that back in May 2012, there was a rumor about a survey going around. You can actually see one of the old threads about it here on the official forums that has now been revived. The reason being that while it was called a fake, Bioware has now delivered nearly everything that was in that survey over a year ago. Let’s take a look. Possible Expansion? From Swtor Survey Star Wars: The Old Republic: Makeb Mission introduces an explosive new conflict threatening the future of the galaxy. The Hutt Empire has risen from the underworld to challenge the Republic and Sith Empire for control of the galaxy, unleashing never-before-seen droids and monstrous battle stations to serve as powerful weapons of destruction. DICE Working on Battlefront Almost Didn’t Happen

We’re excited about DICE working on Star Wars: Battlefront, as we wrote about recently but can you believe it almost didn’t happen? While they seem like the perfect choice for this project, it’s a deal that almost didn’t happen. We’re glad to see DICE on the job because they are meticulous and great at what they do. We definitely have high hopes they will do very well with Battlefront. In Computer and Video Games, we have a great interview with EA’s Patrick Sderlund. Here is the really interesting part: So one of your big surprises was DICE working on the new Star Wars: Battlefront. As you said, that’s pretty much a match made in heaven for fans… but those sorts of dream collaborations don’t happen often. I’m glad you say that because it was almost not happening. It was just something as boring as resources and availability. The DICE guys…

Preliminary Datamining for SWTOR 2.3PTS

Datamines, datamines! What is upcoming for SWTOR in 2.3PTS? Well, swtor_miner is back with some new info that might give us a few clues. First, note that there might be SPOILERS in some of this data. Secondly, remember that datamined info is just a guess at what might be coming in the future of the game. There are no guarantees this even means what we think it means and even if it does, BioWare still have the right to change everything on us before the official release of the game update. In the meantime, it’s fun to speculate! So here is the info SWTOR Miner has for us this time: Hey guys, I got a little bit of free time and tore into the 2.3PTS files. My most interesting find was this: Czerka Executive Cruiser – Activates the Czerk Executive Cruiser, increasing movement speed by 110% and offering excellent protection against…

Ok, maybe some of your wouldn’t but I’m willing to bet he’s going to be pretty popular which, of course, is why BioWare made him. A new Legacy-wide Ewok companion named Treek is coming as part of patch 2.3! Massively Reminisces on Star Wars Galaxies’ 10th Anniversary

It’s hard to believe it’s been that long but the 10 year anniversary of Star Wars Galaxies just passed. Are you feeling old yet, because I am! If you’re reminiscing about the good times you had then join the club because Massively was doing the same thing and they were kind enough to share it with us. Has it really been 10 years? Yep, Star Wars Galaxies did indeed launch on June 26th, 2003. And yep, this is indeed an anniversary post for an MMORPG that closed down in December of 2011. Why the reminiscing about a game that we can’t — ahem — play any longer? Simply put, SWG deserves it. If you’re reading this article, you already know why it deserves it, so we’ll skip the sandbox proselytizing and get right to the part where Massively’s Starsider veterans raise a glass and share a few of their favorite launch-era memories.  You can…

SWTOR Double XP Weekend Quick Tips

If you want to make the most of the double XP weekends and stims, then here is a little trick to help you when you need to run AFK for some food or a bathroom break or … whatever. A lot of people don’t realize that when you are in a conversation with NPCs or a cutscene, your timers are paused. This means your class buffs, stims and other experience boosts will not be running down on you and you can save the time if you need to step away. Your timers will also pause when looking at the Galaxy map so this is a good way to stop everything for a few minutes when you have to AFK. This works great when you’re solo but of course if you are running with a group, it will be a bit more difficult since they can holo call into the conversation….

KOTOR and SWTOR Combine for 10th Anniversary

Those who know me know that I love social media, and for good reason, as it connects us in ways that could never be possible before. It’s a great tool for extending your gaming connections as well. And it also helps us remain in contact with our favorite game updates and staff. Which brings us to a little tidbit from Twitter and Cory Butler this week. A couple of days ago a conversation happened that many might have missed. It’s such a small thing, yet says so much, especially for fans of SWTOR and KotOR. @AlexDGeslin asked @BlazeofCory Hey, I was wonder, are there any plans celebrate KotOR 1’s 10th anniversary on the #cartelmarket ? #swtorfamily BioWare Producer Cory Butler answered Alex Geslin’s question on Twitter and this would spark more questions about just what his answer meant and what we might all expect to see from SWTOR for the 10th anniversary….

Alright, here we go again. You know we’re waiting on more details from 2.2.1 so if you’re looking for the scoop, this data mine might help you out. As always, take what you read here with a grain of salt. WARNING: May contain spoilers. swtor_miner has some more data mined info for us. I don’t have a whole lot of free time right now, so this isn’t going to be a full exposé. Encrypted Datacube: Story content in the cartel market? — Not going to happen

People have been discussion whether or not the Encrypted Datacube was a good thing to have on the CM or not. After lot’s of feedback the devs have been changing their stance and no Datacubes will be available in the Cartel Market in the future. Hey everyone, Our plan with the Encrypted Datacubes was simply to see if packs would be another avenue of getting story content in the game. It will always be the Cartel Market teams goal to look for new and interesting things to add into the Cartel Market which are not gameplay impacting (avoiding pay-to-win, etc.). With that being said, we have heard your feedback loud and clear on this and we have no plans to place the Datacubes in the Cartel Market in the future. Thanks! -eric I’m curious if that means the next four are gone too. While I’m glad they are ditching it I’d still like the ones…

PTS Closing for 2.3 Testing Prep

The public test servers are coming down todayto begin the preperation for Game update 2.3. I must admit that this come as a surprise as  it was a very short duration on the PTS. Thanks very much for your participation and assistance in testing Nightmare Mode Scum and Villainy. We’re excited to bring the new content to you in Game Update 2.2.2. Issues regarding the Revan Armor

Eric Musco took on the official SWTOR forums today explaining players that nothing is wrong with the Revan armor. While this pretty dull news, I’m amazed at the comments on the official forums; the aggressivity and disrespect are mind-boggling. What is wrong with these people? Check it out here: Hey guys, I wanted to add a bit of clarity to the post in this thread, and my update from this morning. This is all of the information I have about Revan’s armor, what was or wasn’t changed, and why. When we originally saw the double hood issue we also noted that it appeared there was a color difference in the armor between the player and NPC. Our plan was to mirror the NPC exactly for the player for consistency. When we fixed the double hood and we looked at the color palette, the armor sets were already identical in color so…
