News has now been released about the Guild Summit application status. If you applied to represent your guild, you will be receiving an email shortly (if not already) that tells you whether or not you were selected. If you were not chosen for the first round, hang on to your hats for a couple more days. Chosen guild leaders have 48 hours to respond to reserve their place or other guilds who have been placed on a waiting list will be chosen in their place. So if some of the guilds are unable to attend or fail to respond in time, you could still be receiving an invite. Don’t book any flights until you’re 100% confirmed that you will be going to represent your guild. From the Official SWTOR Community: Hi everyone, Thank you so much to everyone who applied for the Guild Summit! We received thousands of applications, have…
Awesome SWTOR Lego Sets
I have been a Lego fan since I was a little girl. My kids are now also Lego fans and my boys, as well as my 3 year old daughter, love Star Wars Legos. Too bad we couldn’t have all been at the New York Toy Fair on Sunday because those who were there told us all about the awesome Star Wars and SWTOR themed Lego sets that were presented. Kotaku has some great pictures of these sets in their gallery. Dual Shockers also wrote about the SWTOR legos on presentation: We all know that LEGO produces a very successful series dedicated to the Star Wars franchise. What we didn’t know yet is that they are releasing two kits dedicated to Star Wars: The Old Republic. The kits, showcased at the Toy Fair in New York, will be themed after the Imperial Fury class interceptor (that you can pilot as…
TOR TV: Unnecessary Bleeps in Star Wars: The Old Republic
In today’s TOR TV, we Bring you the brilliant idea of Jimmy Kimmel’s segment “Unnecessary censorship” to the world of video games. For people who don’t know what Unnecessary Censorship is, it refers to the practice of adding censor bleeps, mosaic blurs or black bars to source materials that were neither profane or explicit to begin with. The bleeps are typically dubbed over words to make it sound as if they were explicit. Mosaic blurs and black bars are placed over people, objects, or text to make it appear as if they are covering up pornographic or explicit material. Some times that makes not funny things hilarious. SWTOR Community Q&A
For some reason we fogot to post this one. Better late then never I guess. BioWare has an official Q&A thread for questions to be answered for the February 17th, 2012 Q&A blog post. This is an effort to keep the community of players more involved with the game and changes that are incoming. It’s also an opportunity for fans and players to tell the staff what they want to see in the game or what changes they would like to see happen. Here are the rules to asking questions: Keep your question relatively short. Background details are welcome, but don’t go overboard. Please actually ask a question. We want to hear constructive feedback elsewhere in the Forums. Use common sense – we cannot answer everything, especially on far-reaching content. This should go without saying, but be respectful. Limit yourself to one question in this thread, please. You can always…
Review of SWTOR Gaming Headset By Razer
If you’ve been thinking about getting the new SWTOR Razer gear but you’re not quite sure if you want to shell out that much cash yet, then now is a great time to read this review of the Razer gaming headset from Capsule Computers. While all of Razer’s peripherals look great, looks alone are not enough to drop $200 on a piece of gaming/computer equipment. So it pays to find out more about what people think about it. All in all, they give it a positive review. Some features are the fully functional 7.1 channel surround sound. Some down points to note: To be honest, the additional software is a must to get the most out of this device. You will need it to be able to configure the many awesome bits of the device, such as the lighting effects and game synchronisation which also affects the lighting of the…
George Lucas Says Han Never Shot First; Addresses Disgruntled Fans
“Changes are not unusual — I mean, most movies when they release them they make changes. But somehow, when I make the slightest change, everybody thinks it’s the end of the world,” Lucas told the Hollywood Reporter. Remember when we told you about George Lucas retiring from Star Wars and how he blamed the haters? Well, he’s back with another interview to defend himself and his creative works. He’s been doing quite a few interviews lately to help promote his newest brainchild, “Red Tails”. He discusses how the fans take his work so seriously and says “When I make the slightest change, everyone think it’s the end of the world.” When you look at all the controversies that have come up regarding Star Wars, the movies and the different versions of them, it’s easy to see where he gets this opinion. As a Star Wars fan, I can understand but…

BioWare confirms that Mass Effect 3 ” Is officially gold”
Mass Effect 3 has been touted by its developer, BioWare, to be the conclusion of the Sam Shepard trilogy in the game’s universe. The action role-playing-game series, which was once an Xbox 360 exclusive has come a long way from its early days and is a major name in the gaming industry. In fact, Electronic Arts, the publisher of the series, even decided to drop the single console exclusivity of the series and release it for the PlayStation 3 console as well. Mass Effect 2 was the first game in the series to be released on Sony’s console and exceeded expectations when it came to sales on the PlayStation 3. That also meant that BioWare had a larger gamer base to cater to with the upcoming three-quel of the. EA and BioWare have been dropping plenty of hints and details about the game for quite some time now. It all…
The Guild Sphere: Relapse
Starting off this week, we have a new guild itnerview for you. This time I had the chance to speak with Audentia from the guild Relapse that plays Republic on the EU server Kai-Kan. Relapse is PVE guild and has more or less down the hole game. Check out the interview below: Where did your guilds name come from? Relapse: To fall or slide back into a former state. To regress after partial recovery from illness. To slip back into bad ways; backslide. All our members are ex-raiders from other mmo’s. We believe it’s an appropriate name because hardcore raiding, and the game in general, feels like we are slipping back into bad (but very engaging and enjoyable) habits. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild? Relapse is a (semi-)hardcore raiding guild on Kai-Kan EU. Even though we play on a server that was opened during…
Species of Starwars: Neimoidian
If there’s money to be had, a Neimoidian will be nearby. So says a common spacer stereotype, justified by the species’ reputation for excelling at business. Neimoidians are a species of green humanoids native to the Star Wars galaxy, closely related to Duros. Neimoidian society is said in certain behind-the-scenes books to be very highly Social-Darwinian, with many more Neimoidians being born than survive to adulthood. It seems that there is at least some purposeful withholding of food from the aquatic larvae in order to encourage survival of the strongest and most cunning. In 25,000 BBY, a Duros colony was established on Neimoidia. Due to the distinct features of Neimoidia, including a gravity which was greater than Duro, the Duros colonists became a separate species from their genetic cousins, thus starting the Neimoidian species. During an expansionist period in the Galactic Republic era, the Neimoidians colonized several worlds. The…
Create Your Own SWTOR Loading Screens
Do you want to know how to create your own loading screens? A lot of SWTOR players were having a lot of fun creating their own custom loading screens to help bring a little something new to the game. Well now you can learn how to do it on your own. Dijon posts on SWTORpano.com: As requested by a number of users, I’ve created a simple template for making loading screens and will include loading screens for each panorama I create from now on. It’s very easy to replace your loading screen – make sure to create a backup of the original! Bioware has suggested to be cautious with this, patching may require a repair if there is an altered background. Honestly, I’ve never encountered this. But beware! Panorama update tomorrow! Cheers, Dijon Along with it you will find several great panorama templates to help you make your own custom…
TOR TV: Sith Trifecta
Youtube user rovon2501 created a little tribute video to the leveling of three characters from 1-50 together. All 3 toons are all members of “Hate Machine” the Imperial side of Begeren. The video is incredibly smooth, well produced, and excellently narrated. I think the little in-jokes and carefully balanced approach is what makes the movie so effective. Interested in SWTOR Movies? We have new movies most weekdays here on swtorstrategies! Have suggestions for movie we ought to feature? Get in contact with us here
Guardian Angel: Rotations and Tactics
Guardian Angel Hello, fellow SW:tOR fans. It’s Kiran again with another entry into the Guardian Angel blog, a column dedicated to Jedi Guardian tanking. Today I’m going to cover some of the finer details of end game Guardian tanks, namely rotations and tactics. Later on I will also cover stat priorities and itemization. Ability Priorities and Rotations: The first thing you should know about any class in Star Wars: The Old Republic is that there is no set rotation for abilities like there are in other MMOs. Abilities instead have priorities which determine which available ability should be used first. You should also know that all priorities are situational. Hilt Strike might seem like a high priority ability having a stun and lots of threat, but against multiple targets, it’s not as effect as say, Force Sweep. As such, I will classify all abilities accordingly. The first thing we’re going…
AIAS Awards: SWTOR Wins Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay
The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has recently announced the winners of its 15th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards and not surprisingly, Skyrim took home big prizes. But SWTOR was also recognized as it took home “Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay” and we tend to agree with this assessment. According to Gamasutra: The AIAS is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates creativity in video games worldwide. The IAA ceremony took place last night as part of the 2012 D.I.C.E. Summit. Skyrim won a total of five awards, including Game of the Year, while both PlayStation 3 hit Uncharted 3 and Valve’s first-person puzzler Portal 2 took home three awards each. You can see the full list of winners on the Gamasutra site. So what do you think? Did SWTOR deserve the recognition? There were some big names in the running this year and I am happy to see SWTOR bring at…
Incoming changes to ‘global cooldown’ UI
There has been a lot of talk recently about SWTOR global cooldown UI, the interface changes that were made as part of patch 1.1.2 as well as what players would like to see in the UI. Many players also had opinions and complaints about the look of the ‘global cooldown’ animations. So BioWare staff listened to these concerns and took them seriously. Now they have announced on the official SWTOR blog thatthere will be some incoming changes to the global cooldown UI. This announcement explains: OurUI team took this feedback to heart and worked up a solution which gives everyplayer a lot more choices in how cooldown animations are displayed. If you’rehappy with the way the game currently looks, you can ignore these changes – butwe think some of these preferences will be welcomed by many players. Currently, these new preferences are scheduled to be added to the game in patch…

Intergalactic Intel: Ilum
I stared at a lagging computer screen. I was averaging maybe 3 frames per second. I had been in operation groups before, but never this big or laggy. “So what are you doing?” My brother said as I stared at the screen hoping to make a difference in the ongoing battle. “Me personally?” I stared into the abyss of red names and lightning. “Every so often I run up, force pull someone into our group and then force speed away.” “But aren’t you a tank?” “Tanks still die when 30 people jump them.” Welcome back to another installment of Intergalactic Intel! This week we’re talking about that nasty old Ilum! For those of you who don’t know, Ilum is the “final planet” currently in SWTOR for all classes. While we’re not going to focus on the dailies or the story quest, we’re going to focus on the real elephant in…
SWTOR Mixtape “Cold Republic Episode I: The Empire Likes Rap” Released
Big SWTOR news out today- The world’s first SWTOR mixtape “Cold Republic Episode I: The Empire Likes Rap” has been released! Richie Branson proves to us all that rap music and Star Wars go together like no one ever could have imagined. He announced today the release of his mixtape, titled: ‘The Cold Republic: Episode 1 – The Empire Likes Rap‘ – the first ever SWTOR mixtape. You can download it for free here. On his website, he explains the origin of the album: Sometimes the business of music can be so stressful, so it’s good to be able to take breaks and have fun with my creativity. Since the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, I’ve been glued to my computer levelling and kicking ass in huttball with my sith assassin “Branson” (check me out on the Ven Zallow RP-PVP server). When I heard the main theme music,…
Republic has Better Color Crystals than Empire
There have been several accusations of bias on the part of BioWare in SWTOR. Some were said in jest but others seem to have some real backing to them. Could there be a legitimate case of favoritism towards one side? While BioWare insists that this is not the case and that they created the game with balance to both sides, here is some evidence that Republic has better color crystals than the Empire for lightsabers. This is actually the case for several weapons, especially if they have the same name for both sides. Here we can see that Empire players get the Q48 crystal but Republic side gets the Q56 crystal. There are other instances of this in the game. What gives, BioWare? Do you feel like the Republic has better color crystals in the game? What about just better gear/weapons overall? Are there any other cases where you think…
SWTOR Lightsabers and Icons with Matching Hilt
One of the big appeals to playing a Star Wars game is the lightsabers. No matter what age you are or what kind of gamer you are, lightsabers are still pretty good. The good thing about SWTOR is that they have taken the time and energy to give us a good variety of lightsabers within the game. We have written about this before and if you’ve played a character all the way up to 50 (or even close to that), you’ve probably already seen that there are tons of lightsabers you will come across yourself as you play. Not every character can use every lightsaber. Some are light or darkside specific. Some are class-specific and some are only available to one side or the other (faction) but there is a real appeal to these different weapons, their colors and even the careful attention that went into the different hilt designs….
Five Planets The Old Republic Needs
Have you ever thought about what SWTOR needs to add in future content? It’s a legitimate question since the game could go on for years and years. BioWare has already announced they are working on content we the players won’t see for years down the road. It’s no surprise then that we will see the addition of more new planets. They would have to implement new planets in order to keep the content fresh and continue adding more content to the game. So what new planets should we see in the TOR universe in the future? IGN actually has some great ideas on this very question. This is why they offer up a piece on Five Planets the Old Republic Needs and include their planetary picks of Felucia, Geonosis, Kashyyyk, Csilla, and Bothawui. Read more to find out about each of these five planets and why they make a great…
Is EA CFO Eric Brown Jumping the TORtanic?
Electronic Arts chief financial officer Eric Brown has resigned from his position at the company, Gamasutra reports. He’s only been with the company for under three years but Friday, February 17th will be his last day. The following Tuesday he will start his new role as both the CFO and COO of communications company Polycom. Current chief accounting officer and senior vice president Kenneth Barker will serve as CFO for EA until they find a new official replacement. Some are saying that Brown is leaving the sinking ship they have dubbed the “TORtanic” before it is too late but is this departure really evidence that something is wrong at the company? It’s important to look at all the facts when making such an accusation. First, Brown has a history of coming and going- with EA as well as with other companies. He first joined EA in 1998 but left for…
