501st Stormtroopers, R2-D2 and Alexander Freed signing SWTOR: The Lost Suns comic!
This week I wrote about the Star Wars: The Old Republic- The Lost Suns author signing event but yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to attend and it was every bit as awesome as I expected.
As a video game writer myself, I was super pumped to meet Bioware Senior Writer Alexander Freed. We talked about SWTOR (sorry guys, nothing new that we didn’t already know. :/) They weren’t going to let him divulge any spoilers, even if he wanted to. We talked about gaming in general and how exciting it is to be behind the scenes of a game’s development, especially a game as big as SW:TOR.
Alexander was everything I expected- a really, chill guy, creative and a huge Star Wars fan. While we were chatting, my husband disarmed a Stormtrooper and my daughter danced with R2-D2, who was quite popular with all of the kids and kids-at-heart.
Roboteer Jamie McShan brought R2-D2 who was a super hit with the youngsters, my kids included. This is the most awesome, realistic robot of any type I have ever seen and who doesn’t love R2-D2? He talked, he walked, he danced and even waved. I wish I had video instead of just the still shots so you could see how awesome he really was. Special thanks to Jamie McShan and R2-D2 for that experience!
Speaking of the 501st Stormtroopers, my son really hit it off with Agent TK-9750 who’s Tours of Duty include Texas Comicon, Wizard World Comicon, Live Oak Toy Show, Star Wars in Concert and many charity and hospital events.
You can learn more about them 501st at www.501st.com.
Austin Books & Comics is one of the coolest comic shops I have ever been in. Their AC was a relief on this 108 degree Texas day and their shelves are stocked full of everything awesome!
As for the comic, it’s everything I thought it would be. You can learn more from our post on The Lost Suns but I don’t want to spoil it for those who have yet to get a copy. You don’t even have to be a comic fan to enjoy it and if you plan to play the game, I suggest you invest in the comics and get the full story.
