The Guild Sphere: vindicatum

Welcome back to another edition of the Guild Sphere. This time vindicatum took the time to answer our questions. Vindication is Is a guild with high ambitions supporting the republic. Check it out:

Where did your guilds name come from?
Vindicatum was an amazing guild back on my guild’s old World of Warcraft server (Icecrown, I believe) and they stood for something that we really wanted to emulate: Success. They were one of the best guilds in America, and tore apart any competition on our server. We also believe that Vindication is something that really stood strong in the Jedi and Republic ideals; so that’s something that we really wanted to reflect into Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?
We’re just a group of guys that want to be known. At this point, we’re all focused on leveling and being casual while enjoying the leveling experience, but we are dying to get in endgame, and tear it up. We’re always looking on how to improve everything about our game play, and we want to be one of those guilds that people are dying to get into.

How did your guild come about?
When we all heard about this game a few years ago, we were all super excited about it. The excitement kind of died down, as we were all 100% into World of Warcraft, and basically forgot about it. Ever since everything starting happening, and it started getting closer and closer to the point where it was actually going to be released, we all got amazingly stoked. We all pre-ordered as soon as we could, basically, and started a guild after we all realized that’s the way we wanted to go with the game; and here we are.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
We’re going to be pretty much focused on PvE progression, but there’s always going to be some time spent with PvP.

What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
Our guild is set up for everyone and anyone to actually have a chance to make a difference in our community. Although we already have a leader and 4 officers, there’s always going to be room for advancement and there’s going to be evaluated, consensual decisions made regarding anything of consequence.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
While leveling, we’re going to play pretty casual; frequent, but casual. Once we all hit the level cap, we’re going to transition into semi-hardcore gearing, and sooner rather than later, semi-hardcore raiding. As far as how serious we run the guild: We’re going to have fun, but actually progress and make a name for ourselves in the process. Too many times, have I been apart of a guild that is so focused on progression and end game content, that they forget that it’s still a game. We want to succeed, and we also want our members to have fun doing so.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
As it stands, myself and my 4 officers will have the final say in our guild’s matters. As far as the entire guild goes, we will have certain ranks throughout the guild that will mean different things. We don’t have anything planned as far as different rights and things that one rank can or can’t do, but that will come in time. In raiding, we will have role leaders (Tank, Healers, Melee DPS, and Ranged DPS) so each role can learn his/her part in each fight.

Why did you choose The Republic?
We chose the Republic because we believe in what they actually stand for. The Sith Empire is, in most people’s eyes, the “bad” guys in Star Wars, and we would prefer the support the good guys! 🙂

Why do you run a guild?
Like I said before, we all want to succeed. We’ve been in too many guilds that have gone no where, and we all don’t want that to happen. Also, this is the first time that all of us will be starting a game at launch, so this is the best chance we’ve had to have a successful guild right off the back.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
We will have Role Leaders, which will be responsible for everyone that falls into their specific roles. Also, we will have scheduled, calendar dates set for raiding. They will fall probably 2-3 days a week, and about 2-3 hours a night. We want to be semi-hardcore, so we all want to be very professional about this whole thing.

Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
They way we see it; the more the merrier. We want people in our guild that share the same desires as us. We don’t really want any specific number of people in our guild, but we want a group of core raiders that consistently raid every time.

Age Requirement?
We’re going to take this as serious as we can. With that being said, we don’t really have an age requirement, but we do have a maturity requirement. If you aren’t mature, then we don’t want you in our guild; plain and simple. We joke around a lot, but we also know when to buckle down and get serious; so that’s what we’re looking for in our guild.

Guild size?
We don’t have a specific guild size that we NEED, but we want to be able to have at least one solid 8 man group(and hopefully even a 16 man) at the start. As soon as we have progression under our belt, we will defiantly branch out and start new groups, including new members that need gear, and alt runs.

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
I feel as if the one thing that will set us apart from everyone else, is our general attitude towards gaming. We know how to have fun, and we know when to get serious. We all want to progress and to be a top contender on our server, but we will totally have an amazing time playing this game.

How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
Currently, we’re pretty busy with working and stuff due to holiday hours, but when we get some free time, we all like to hang out and have some fun. We have done tons of research regarding different aspects of the game, and will continue to do so until we don’t have anything else to research. My officers and I are all real life friends, and have known each other for about 10 years now.

What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
Right now, we all play League of Legends as a guild. We have a ranked team, and usually play at least a few games a night. If we’re not playing that, most of us are playing Skyrim 😉

If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
We have a website up right now, and a recruitment thread on Reddit.com/r/swtorguilds. The website link is http://vindicatum.enjin.com/home. All you have to do is go to that link, click the recruitment tab, and fill out the application as thoroughly as you can. Most will probably be accepted. 🙂

One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
There seemed to be a lack of action bars in the game. In World of Warcraft, you could turn on up to 2 and a half more rows of action bars, which made everything you ever needed and more available to you whenever you needed it. Hopefully, they increase the amount of action bars available.

Also, hopefully they allow AddOn support. 😀
