Are you ready for a new Star Wars game? EA has officially announced their long-awaited project code-named "Maverick". Star Wars: Squadrons is a 5v5 dogfighting game releasing this Fall. It will feature a lot of customizations for your ships that you earn through gameplay.

It has an emphasis on multiplayer but also has a single-player campaign, set in the time after the Battle of Endor. Initially, there were rumors that it might have microtransactions but those rumors have since been squashed.

Motive Studios' creative director Ian Frazier also said it isn't a living game, meaning they won't deliver post-launch content.

"Our mindset has been very old school," Frazier says. "We're trying to say with this game that we have a $40 price point, we want to feel generous to players, and we want it to feel like a complete experience. Like 'You gave us your $40. Here's a game that you will love. Thank you.' That's it. This isn't something we are building around a live-service strategy. It's built around a game that is complete and great in its own right. That's not to say we will never add anything, I guess we could, but it's not presented as a live service."

Personally, I love the idea. I want to get a full game when I pay for games online. I don't want to have to wait for extra content releases to get a full game experience. I'm feeling good about this one and excited to learn more about it as we await the official launch in October.

Check out the trailer here:

The game will cost just $39.99 and features cross-play across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and VR. EA Access and Origin Access subscribers will get to play 10 hours of the game for free, while Origin Premier subscribers will gain full access to the base game as long as their subscription lasts.

Star Wars: Squadrons releases on October 2nd and is available now for preorder.
