Star Wars Cast Does A Cappella Version of Opening Theme

Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Cast Sing “Star Wars” Medley (A Cappella) Thank you Jimmy Fallon for another awesome a cappella feature with The Roots. I thought the Adele cover of Hello with classroom instruments was cool but this is even better. Jimmy and The Roots join Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford for an a cappella tribute to “Star Wars.” If you haven’t seen it yet (or just feel like listening and watching again), here it is. How awesome is that? Okay first, it sounds really awesome. Like seriously, the quality is good and it’s fun to listen to.  Secondly, the attitudes the actors bring to the video are great. It’s so much fun to watch it while you listen. It has a Hollywood Squares/Brady Bunch feel to it and we can’t help but…

TOR TV: SWTOR: Love & Lust – Imperial one-nighters

“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?” Oh yeah, he went there. One big appeal to SWTOR is the story. You’ve heard it time and time again, you’ve probably said it yourself, we’ve said it here on the site. When a game has a good story, it has immersion. We you can lose yourself in the characters, in the plot and even in the passion, you have the makings of a very good game. One thing Bioware does well is story and one thing they’ve never been afraid of is adding love and sex to their games, when relevant. SWTOR is no exception. So here is a video that gives us a compilation of romance scenes throughout SWTOR. You’ll notice they really do love their “private time” here. You might recognize some of these scenes yourself. Maybe others are new. It’s an hour long so it’s not a…

SWGEMU: Vendors Disappearing and Basilisk Rollback

Something bad happened over with SWGEMU today recently. They were quick to update to the forums and Facebook to let members know what was going on. No excuses, no twisting of the facts but just a simply notification of what was happening and how they intended to fix it. As many members of the community have said, a roll back is better than vendor loss. They worked hard and quickly to try to correct the issue. Here’s the update in case you missed it. From SWGEMU forums: Well something got messed up pretty bad. Unfortunately bunch of vendors, shuttleports and starports went poof. While we are investigating the issue, we are making backups and trying to find the underlying cause. At the moment the worst case scenario would be a rollback. If that happens, and we are hoping it wont have to come to that, all characters created in the…

Still Hope for Star Wars 1313

While it might seem that Star Wars 1313 is shelved forever, there might still be hope for the game. In an interview with Slashfilm, head of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, told the site that Lucasfilm is still looking at George Lucas’ live action Star Wars TV show, as well as Star Wars 1313. This is good news for fans of Star Wars games (like us!) who have feared the third-person action adventure was dead forever. Speaking of the TV show and the game, Kennedy said there is still hope. “We don’t want to throw any of that stuff away,” Kennedy told Slashfilm. “It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.” The game was originally announced just before E3 in 2012, and some of you might remember us telling you about it. Then they showed…

Havok Trooper Cosplay by LazyAardvark

You know how we love to bring you fan-created stuff and cosplay. (I live for reporting on these things!) So here’s another we adore. A SWTOR fan named LazyAardvark posted a great Havok Trooper cosplay that we really wanted to share with you. He says he’s been working on it for a few months and we can definitely see why. This armor is so realistic, it looks like it should be on the set of a movie. One thing we really liked was the worn, battled look it has. LazyAardvark explains how this was achieved: “The battleworn look was done with pastel chalk and a magic wash which comprised of acryllic paint, floor polish, and water, i also did some low lighting in the recesses to make the details pop out.” We think This is pretty awesome! It’s amazing to see what serious fans can and do come up with….

Star Wars: Battlefront Fails to Impress Some

Not everyone is smitten with Star Wars: Battlefront. This is not news to us and not news to you. We’ve even written about it here on the site before. But have you spent any time to delve into why some people don’t like the game? Let’s go beyond the “haters” who just want to complain about things, or who oppose anything EA/DICE and look to some real critique of Battlefront. There have been about 100 Star Wars video games released since the first film premiered in 1977. Of those, only a handful can really be considered good. But the thing about most Star Wars and gamer fans is that we love them both so much, we’ll be willing to try anything, at least once. We’ve bought and played some pretty terrible Star Wars games over the years, all in our quest to find the right games we want to play. When we…

I Played 13 Star Wars Mobile Games. Here are the Best.

Over the past couple years, we’ve seen a lot of new Star Wars games, just not where you might expect them: on your phone. There have been tons of new mobile games that have come out since Disney took over the franchise, from Rebels-themed kids’ games and puzzlers to tower defense and shooters. But are any of them any good? Do they stand up to the classics, like Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire? I had to find out, so I sat down and played 13 of them. It took me a while, but here’s what I found out. The Best: Knights of the Old Republic It’s getting old now, but this game has translated remarkably well to mobile platforms. The controls are really easy to use, the gameplay is intuitive, and the story is a classic one that stands the test of time. The graphics are what you’d expect for a game that’s…

When The Star Wars Slot Machines Stopped Spinning

The (un)told story of how Disney decided that Star Wars Slot Machines weren’t family-friendly enough and the Force lost the casino battle Two major celebrations are in the air. First, it is the fourth anniversary for SWTOR! Congrats all around and hope for many, many more anniversaries ahead. The second, needless to say, is that the Force Awakens, once again. It is no small wonder. After the last reboot (1999-2005) there was a heavy feeling in the air that it might just have been the last one. Many even pondered that it might be for the best. But not really. Because the question must be asked – would you rather live in a galaxy that stars don’t war, or in one that they do? Don’t even bother to answer that. So spirits are high, and lines outside movie theatres are long. And not to spoil the fun, but it is…

These Knock-Off Star Wars Toys are Hilarious

People love Star Wars. This is a fact as simple as the sky being blue. So it’s no surprise that you will find some unscrupulous (or perhaps just ignorant) companies trying to play on the Star Wars love. That’s exactly what we find in these “Star Wars” toys purchased by wholesale trader Karl Baxter, of Wholesale Clearance UK. But these discount toys that arrived just in time for the new film release weren’t exactly what he expected. These weren’t just knock-offs; these were fakes that seemed to have been designed by someone with no knowledge of the franchise and the results are hilarious (maybe not for Mr. Baxter). Most of the molds do not come close to properly resembling the characters intended but the names/titles are even funnier. Obi-Wan Kenobi was dubbed Toy-One and C-3PO is R2-3PO. A young Anakin Skywalker is simply called “little girl” and Qui-Gon Jinn is…

How Disney is Keeping the Star Wars Premiere Under Wraps

There’s a big premiere happening today but you won’t hear much more than that about it, at least not anytime soon. Disney is using The Force to keep details and location of the premiere of The Force Awakens under wraps. Disney is about to pull off a very big feat by keeping details of their next (and most anticipated) movie a secret. We know the premiere is happening today December 14th and in Los Angeles but we don’t know any other details. In fact, it’s being kept so under wraps, members of the team an dinner circles of Disney, Lucasfilm and Abrams’ have not seen it yet. Traditionally, Hollywood will give early releases to reporters, film critics and other VIPs in the industry to upcoming films. This not the case for the new Star Wars film. All early showings were cut, including important screenings for critic groups, in an attempt to keep the…

Nude Patch for SWTOR (NSFW)

Edit: New SWTOR Nude Mod working with 64-Bit Upgrade For those in the Star Wars: The Old Republic community interested in customizing their game, there are mods out there that push boundaries, including the infamous “nude patch.” This mod has been around for a while, offering a risqué twist on character customization. What is the SWTOR Nude Patch? This mod is designed to replace certain character textures with more explicit versions. It’s a user-generated mod and not officially supported by the game’s developers, BioWare or EA. Important Considerations: NSFW Content: This patch is definitely not safe for work and is intended for adult audiences only. Installation Risks: As with any third-party mod, installing this patch carries risks, including potential security concerns and the possibility of game instability or bans. Always be cautious and understand the risks involved. See an example in video with a cantina dancer: Where to Download The…

Have You Seen the Missing Star Wars Celica?

The stories say that back in 1977, a custom Star Wars Celica was built to help promote the very first film. Sadly, it seems, it has gone missing. The Official Blog of Toyota GB is now calling for your help in this post, “Help us find this Star Wars Celica, you must”. Their post explains what they are looking for: Search your feelings – and maybe your garage too, just in case. Toyota fans around the world have been called on to help track down this Star Wars Celica made to promote the first film in 1977. You won’t have missed that the new Star Wars film, Episode 7: The Force Awakens, is arriving in UK cinemas shortly. The release has prompted a renewed search to find the car created for the ‘Star Wars Sweepstakes’ competition, which marked the arrival of Episode 4: A New Hope in 1977. Hip Hop Star Wars

My pal, Richie Branson, who we told you about before back in 2012, is making the trending list again, this time with a Star Wars mixtape you’re going to want to play on repeat. I have always been a fan of Biggie Smalls and of course, of Star Wars, but leave it to Richie to come up with an idea to blend the two. He got with a buddy of his to make it happy and the results are glorious! We’re not the only ones to think so because the album has essentially gone viral since it hit the net and it’s being mentioned all over the place. It was at 2.5 million streams and counting, featured on livemixtapes, USA Today, Comedy Central and more. Yesterday it was trending on Twitter for quite some time with the hashtag #HIPHOPSTARWARS. It’s still making the rounds across the Internet and if you haven’t…

Will We See Yoda in a Battlefront DLC?

While it’s true that we feel like they’d do anything to sell Star Wars: Battlefront and the subsequent DLCs, we still find it interesting that we just might see an appearance by Yoda in a future content release. It’s also expected that Kylo Ren will be in the game and we think this is pretty cool as well. It makes sense as we know EA is going to try to play on the popularity of the release of The Force Awakens to try to sell more DLC too. See above What does this mean? Well, it might mean next to nothing. Just because we see Yoda’s voice actor listed on IMDb doesn’t mean it’s accurate (although usually it is) and it doesn’t mean we’re going to see Yoda in the game. Perhaps it’s just a voice-over? He could appear as just a hologram giving  you some game advice. It really could be anything…

Star Wars: Battlefront Real Life Mod Dazzles

Star Wars: Battlefront was always going to be extremely keen on visuals. DICE have made it clear from the beginning that they were going to go for authenticity and that they were going to exploit the Frostbite engine to the fullest in their quest for Star Wars eye candy. Granted, on maximum graphics settings, the game has always been a visual delight, but there are individuals out there who have found ways to push it way past what the official version was supposed to accomplish in this respect. Back in November, a mod surfaced, which was used to produce a few impressive screenshots. Called SweetFX Real Life, the mod makes it possible for the game to run in 4k at 60fps, putting out some truly mind-boggling graphics details. Following the still pictures mentioned above, the mod has now been used to make actual footage too, posted to YouTube by jackfrags….

[PATCH NOTES] Star Wars Battlefront PC Update – 12/10/15

Here are the newest patch notes for the PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront. Most of it sounds reasonable. The Endor map should be more equal now, and Boba Fett’s missile lock was way to over powered. So no complains from me on this: Miscellaneous Updates and Tweaks: Added Dolby Atmos support for PC players Fixed an issue where one out of 12 players remained in the loading screen on Swamp Crashsite, Sorosuub Centroplex, and Graveyard of Giants in * * Heroes vs. Villains and Walker Assault multiplayer modes Fixed an issue where two players would spawn in a damage area that doesn’t match visual lava Walker Assault Updates and Tweaks: Increased AT-AT health on Endor Hero Updates and Tweaks: Removed auto-lock on Boba Fett´s missile. Weapons, Gadgets and Star Cards Tweaks: Tweaked impact damage for Impact grenade from 100 to 90

“Night at the Museum” Meets “Star Wars”

The Oklahoma Science Museum knows how to keep a child’s interest. In fact, I wish I was a kid and I wish I lived in Oklahoma because I would be all over this. On Friday,December 11, Oklahoma Science Museum is hosting a Science Overnight program inspired by the wildly popular “Star Wars” movie franchise. It’s like a big, Star Wars-themed slumber party! The museum director of education and training, Clint Stone, said the overnight exhibit will have trained science educators who teach the visitors about the science of “Star Wars”, comparing ways the real world stacks up against a galaxy far, far away. It’s a timely event, considering the upcoming release of Star Wars: A Force Awakens but it’s more than just exploiting the popularity of the film to get kids interested in science. This is a great example of how Star Wars truly is a culture, rather than just a movie franchise….
